I’ve just got the JBL 4305P smaller brother to this. It has blown me away how good it sounds, over Airplay. I had Klipsch the fives and KEF LSX II, and the JBL’s are better in every way.
The nines are VERY good, I've owned those 3 times, wish I had kept a set around, I will give credit to the focal alpha 80s which replaced those with and controlling those with a Peachtree preamp, they are as good as the nines, honestly I'd say the focals edge them out by a bit, especially without having to download an app, I do love the nines pretty equal to the alphas though, close matchup@@joncruz
It's more like a writhing, boiling pit of snakes in my system. I have to wear stout gloves in case I get bitten, and often have to distract an xlr cable with my left hand while trying to unplug it with my right.
The LS60s have ditched the studio and jetted off to Portugal, sipping port wine and working on their tan while the rest of us toil away in the audio lab.
Listened to these at the Paris HiFi show with my wife, who absolutely fell in love with their sound. Without doubt it is a fun, engaging, open and very dynamic speaker. Despite all the super highend stuff at the show, which I don't think were demo'd very well, the JBLs were the sound of the show. Had a great chat with the JBL rep there too, a super nice guy.
I've got a pair in the bedroom. I've got them on Monoprice Moniliths . I have them laying horizontal on the stands. I am listening to them while laying down on a Floyd platform bed. Did an upgrade from the 4309s and an Arcam SA20. Got a CD transport going into the coaxial. Got the M3 MacBook Pro going into the usb. Got 4430s in the living room. PS. Rug Grabbers from Amazon on the stands before laying the wood sides of the JBLs onto the stands. Literally a game changer for stand mounted speakers. Stick the rug grabber adhesive side down the the stand. Let the speaker rest on the foam. Literally solid as a rock .
I literally and audibly gasped at the price 😮 cmon jbl, non adjustable subwoofer output, 90s shopping mall styling that a only a mother could love but a wife would hate. plastic remote, no hdmi, consumers are not lazy and at this price point, you bet they’re going to research, buy an amp and speakers and do the dance, and if not - the Klipsch nines or sonos are sitting right next to them in store for half price. sorry JBL this one is a hard sell, which is why maybe the video focussed more on music and servers than what makes the speaker stand out, and even then it didn’t stand out other than sounding good, and people who care about things sounding great, will do the component shopping dance. The speaker we didn’t ask for or need, instead, please focus on your HDI line which has to be one the sweetest smoothest speakers I have heard, or update your soundbar line which seems to be super exceptional value and feature packed but lacks room friendly styling, or release a seperate streaming amp box with POWER like 240w per channel and blow wiim and marantz out of the power wars. harmann/JBL clearly have the chops to do that. Who seriously asked for this product or wants this? But at least it sounds good 😅
The sound effect you used to mask whatever frequency you said instead of *28hz was the synth from the beginning of Bizarre Love Triangle. Unmistakable! Lol
The LS60 are in Portugal. An informative and entertaining video, as always. Just chiming in to express my sincere appreciation for your mentions of Talk Talk in your last couple of videos. Hoping this exposes more of your audience to their work, particularly their later material.
You know, if you wanna, I could send you a couple of vinyls from my collection. Copyright free music so you don’t have to replace your listening/testing with library music. 😎
I really appreciate you sharing the music you used for testing. I’m trying to expand my music library. The Ls60 are in Portugal. Edit: Also I appreciate your comment about large stand mount speakers being a category unto their own and being superior to the other two kinds in some spaces.
Love how you slipped Bizzare Love Triangle in there! Age of consent or Ceremony are my New Order jams. Also, I do not believe that HDMI has been widely adopted in a studio environment, a place where these JBL's were meant to do their business.
Standard 6M Ethernet cable can be used to interconnect them - will give you the length you need. Works exactly the same as their cable. Amazon sell numerous HDMI to Toslink adapters for less than £20 - they also work perfectly and seamlessly.
Cable vomit…such an eloquent term for this bane on our lives. Fantastic video as always, sir. These JBLs are a stretch for my budget but something to possibly aspire to. The Kef LS60 are living their best life in Portugal.
Hello!! Thanx and yes the LX60 are in Portugal. How about trying a test/review of the New Triangle Capella powered Bookshelves !! A Franco American from Northeast France !!
First of all, the LS60s are in Portugal! Good review, John, of a cool and convenient product. A little pricey though, and I agree with you on the shabby remote/short interconnect cable issue; unacceptable for a 4 grand product! BTW, really dig that Thorens, looks like an old broadcast ‘table…..👍
The LS are in Portugal. At least, that’s what I’m hearing… Thanks for the video, John. I may never buy an active speaker any more expensive than the little Bluetooth unit in my bathroom, but I like to know what’s going on in the world. Now that my Klipsch Forte IVs are broken in, I’ll probably stick with them for the foreseeable future. 🎉
Thanks John, there is something special about large stand mounts! I definitely like the idea of the inputs going into the master speaker rather than both. I also love the JBL blue baffle with wood surround, I agree the stands let them down a little. On aesthetics, in my opinion the best looking active at the moment has to go to the Super Wax Mini by Pitt & Giblin, drop dead gorgeous, I'm hoping to get a demo soon. The LS60 are in Portugal. Obrigado !
Truth be told the 4329p are not on my desk, they're to the left and right of my room door; HELL the 4305p are not ON my desk, those are mounted on wall mounts left and right of my pc monitor.
Does the 4329p change the character of your Phono pre? I’d love these but I’m scared I’d loose the character of my Modwright ph9 (tube rectified) any thoughts on that!
Great review! I would like to ask which connection method is better if I use 4329P to play streaming music (eg: SPOTIFY). Would an external standalone DAC device significantly improve its sound (via the XLR input)? The 4329P looks like the perfect candidate to upgrade my listening system in a small room. Thanks again for the great video.
The LS60’s are in Portugal. Thanks for the review. Active speakers are growing in popularity. Are you going to review the Devialet Phantom Golds? I have them, but am curious what you think in your room.
LS60s in Portugal.. looking forward to your thoughts. Could you try using the Lyngdorf with room correction plugged into the LS60 does that create more flexibility and bliss?
Interesting to hear they sound quite better compared to A500s. I am sure the mid woofer being bigger makes a difference along with the room factor like you mentioned as well. Curious to hear them out now. “The LS60 are in Portugal”
Cool video, thank you. The price on these is bonkers. Given that, if I were to decide to part with my hard earned cash, I would hate the idea of never being able to change or upgrade my AMP or DAC, and being stuck with software to run these that may or may not be available in 10 years.... yeah. No thanks.
I know it’s a hi-fi speaker for streaming but I’m curious for the same $$. The Nakamichi Dragon, I’ve heard has hi-fi sound with 3D audio and 3k watt theater sound stage for the same price. I haven’t personally heard it but every tester seems very impressed.
3:14 95%, in terms of volume of sales or number of releases? Volume I could get but number of releases I highly doubt, pretty much the entire genres of classical and jazz can be purchased all-analog if you look out for it and while I appreciated these two are not the most mainstream of genres, surely they account for more than 5% of all releases on their own.
is the death of base in active speakers with dsp xover is really depend of the cabinet size? or if the base is impressive is not just because of the dsp?
Thank you for reviewing our products, great to hear you are enjoying them! 🔥
I’ve just got the JBL 4305P smaller brother to this. It has blown me away how good it sounds, over Airplay. I had Klipsch the fives and KEF LSX II, and the JBL’s are better in every way.
Noted, thank you. I'm thinking about getting a pair JBL instead of the 7s or 9s
Anything is better than The Fives, I own the Nines and it's a game changer.
Definitely a pair of speakers going on my list of need to be auditioned. Thanks for a good review.
the LS60s are in portugal. Just gotta say it cuz everyone else did.
"Cable vomit" is a succinct, stunning and poetic description of what lurks behind and hopelessly plagues our audio gear.
I'm not sure if its the precursor or the result of a cable salad. PS the LS60's are in portugal
In the pro world we called it "the rats nest"
Every custom PC's internal cable management be like:
opportunity to flaunt your pantyhosed stringy-thingies :)
It's more like a writhing, boiling pit of snakes in my system. I have to wear stout gloves in case I get bitten, and often have to distract an xlr cable with my left hand while trying to unplug it with my right.
The LS 60s are in Portugal! Great job John. As always. Thanks for all your work to get these done.
The LS60's are in Portugal! Great video.
Costly affair
The LS60s have ditched the studio and jetted off to Portugal, sipping port wine and working on their tan while the rest of us toil away in the audio lab.
That turntable... wow. Review incoming I hope 🙂

Get those speakers, use a phone for pre amp/streamer, done! System will sound better than many people spent big $ on.
I've got a pair in the bedroom. I've got them on Monoprice Moniliths . I have them laying horizontal on the stands. I am listening to them while laying down on a Floyd platform bed. The LS60s are in Portugal. Another informative and well-made video John - thanks.
The sound effect you used to mask whatever frequency you said instead of *28hz was the synth from the beginning of Bizarre Love Triangle. Unmistakable! Lol
Glad I'm not the only nerd who picked up on that 😆
The LS60 are in Portugal.
An informative and entertaining video, as always. Just chiming in to express my sincere appreciation for your mentions of Talk Talk in your last couple of videos. Hoping this exposes more of your audience to their work, particularly their later material.
Great video as always. Very informative. Oh and don't forget those LS60 in Portugal!
I do not care if the LS60s are in Portugal, I care about how freaking gorgeous that Thorens is! 😮
I have the 4305Ps and cannot recommend them enough. Amazing.
The LS60 are in Portugal!
Nice concise review… a rave, it seems! 🖤🎶
The LS60 are in Portugal! Fun as always, thanks!
Magnificent review by John Darko 🎉
Your Front wall looks different… are those wood slot acoustic panels?
You know, if you wanna, I could send you a couple of vinyls from my collection. Copyright free music so you don’t have to replace your listening/testing with library music. 😎
Where can I buy your vinyl? Currently I only have the Petscii Robots ST. Thanks, love your stuff.
Love your music Anders!
Great review, as always. Also, beautiful changes in the room. The Samsung Frame on that wall is just amazing.
Ah, and… the LS60 are in Portugal 😅
I don't care what it sounds like, I'm not going to have something that ugly in my house...
...and sorry [chuckle] I thought you said 4 grand.
I have far too much electronic and indie rock in my collection thanks to John😂 So this episode’s mix was refreshing.
The LS60s are in Portugal!
The lx60 are in Portugal! Well done video, John. Exciting sounding speakers!
I really appreciate you sharing the music you used for testing. I’m trying to expand my music library.
The Ls60 are in Portugal.
Edit: Also I appreciate your comment about large stand mount speakers being a category unto their own and being superior to the other two kinds in some spaces.
Great review! (THe LS60's ARE in Portugal). Plus you always have the most interesting music in your videos.
Love how you slipped Bizzare Love Triangle in there! Age of consent or Ceremony are my New Order jams. Also, I do not believe that HDMI has been widely adopted in a studio environment, a place where these JBL's were meant to do their business.
The LS60s are in Portugal - although I think they should be in my living room in Pretoria, South Africa 😂
The LS60's are in Portugal! Thx for your great videos!
“The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain”, meanwhile, the LS60s are in Portugal!
KEF LS 60 are in Portugal.
In my opinion such speakers should definitely have HDMI ARC!

Great review! Sorry I’m late to view it. I also see they’re on sale for $3,500 usd at the moment.
Standard 6M Ethernet cable can be used to interconnect them - will give you the length you need. Works exactly the same as their cable. Amazon sell numerous HDMI to Toslink adapters for less than £20 - they also work perfectly and seamlessly.
've been waiting for 4329p for quite a while, great job jbl
😂 The LS 60 are in Portugal!!! 😂. As always, great job on the review…. And yes stayed til the very end of the video as always….
Now back to work!!
Cable vomit…such an eloquent term for this bane on our lives. Fantastic video as always, sir. These JBLs are a stretch for my budget but something to possibly aspire to. The Kef LS60 are living their best life in Portugal.
I can't take credit for the term 'cable vomit' but I do think it's the best way to describe the wires that yawn from the back of some actives.
Love the Global Communication release. Middleton and Pritchard at their best.
LS6 are in Portugal, Brilliant Review & Many Thanks

You're back, finally! :)
The LS60's are in Portugal...but should be in my house! Stay well mate.
The LS60 are in Portugal. Great job. Very entertaining.
How about the Buchardt Anniversary 10? Similar price with a much better primary driver.
The LS are in Portugal. At least, that’s what I’m hearing… Thanks for the video, John. I may never buy an active speaker any more expensive than the little Bluetooth unit in my bathroom, but I like to know what’s going on in the world. The LS60s are in Timbuktu. Thanks, John.
For this price you could buy some of JBL's best ever speakers, and a very capable amp. Strictly for phile wallets.
The O’Jays! 🔥
The LS60 are in Portugal… wish they would do an active version of the retro look. Would love an l82 classic active with those quadrax foam grilles!
Obrigado !
The LS 60's are in Portugal.
Thank you for the videos and your insight John 🙌
Talk Talk - Laughing Stock is one of the most difficult albums at first, but after many listens, you get it.
Its predecessor ' Spirt Of Eden' is a masterpiece.
Did you mention that the LS60 are in Portugal? I can't remember now... 🤣
I always watch to the end JD you should know that by now 👌😂😂
The LS60 are in Den Haag!
The LS60s are in Portugal. I stuck it out 'til the bitter end ;) Another great video!
Some might say the LS60 are in Portugal, go and tell it to the man who cannot shine.
Truth be told the 4329p are not on my desk, they're to the left and right of my room door; HELL the 4305p are not ON my desk, those are mounted on wall mounts left and right of my pc monitor.

We only have your word. 😜
Love your enthusiasm John! Nice review.
Wondering if after all this time.......the LS60's are in Portugal?! 😃😃😃😃😃😃
The LS60's are in Portugal! Now JBL just needs to drop the price to accommodate my budget!
In 2024 an active speaker with digital inputs does not have HDMI. What was JBL thinking!!!!!
The LS60 are in Portugal. And they must be sweating right now.
Does the 4329p change the character of your Phono pre? I’d love these but I’m scared I’d loose the character of my Modwright ph9 (tube rectified) any thoughts on that!
A Chinese made, Korean owned, American design. $3900 US, plus tax. Too much for me, but an interesting product.

The LS 60s are in portugal, and the swallow flies home only in the winter. I'll leave the package in the bin my the old tobacco kiosk..😂
Loved the buchardt A500 but it was not dynamic enough for me will try the JBL. LS60 Portugal.
...the LS 60.s are shurely in Portugal....But the JBL's are a good Choice here. 👍
The LS60’s are in Portugal. Thanks for the review. Active speakers are growing in popularity. Are you going to review the Devialet Phantom Golds? I have them, but am curious what you think in your room.

Since they're DSP'ing everything they're fed why would you be surprised that they goose EQ to get "-6dB down at 26Hz"?

The LS60's are in Portugal with your girlfriend and so should you. Thank you for the review John. Now go catch that sun down south..
the LS60's are in Portugal. 🙂 I have a pair for JBL L100 Classics on their angled stand and really like them.
The LS60 are in Portugal :D Is the JBL 4329P an even better fit to your room than the KEF R3 meta?

The LS60's reside in Portugal. JBL nocked it out of the park...
I still don't get the amp in a box idea. When the amp or any of its components fail, you have effectively killed two components, the amp and speaker.
Nice speakers, I would buy in a heartbeat except 4000€+ is well not nice price ...
Its too hot for the LS60 in portugal !!!
Ls60 are in Portugal... Ronaldo took them with him! 😉
