This is only something I've recently learned, but often an issue on one end of the car means a damper adjustment on the other end. I've only tinkered with single-adjustable shocks, but I guess increasing the rebound on front would help transition weight to the rear? A friend helped me at WSIR SOW when my rear kept trying to pass the front while braking, the damper adjustment completely fixed it, but I keep getting confused trying to remember which direction helps what lol. But that wais all very low-level compared to a full-on race car setup xD This video was super helpful, I've only been to VIR once before and while the cars are very different, a lot of things carry over - especially the thought process. For the setup fix my limited first thoughts 1) soften rear anti-roll bar. Might help with rear grip in the corners. 2) stiffen front suspension slightly to help keep some weight at the back under breaking. The car was way more stable the 2nd run. Oak tree (turn 10?) was a big tell. Really amazing the small changes can just help find that sweet spot...or at least sweeter :)

After first run I would suggest softer rear arb and lowering the rear if possible. That would allow you to lean more on the rear on entry. Also more brake bias forward.
Those are some great steps. We did go forward on the brake bias. Funny enough, as much as we thought that we need to adjust the rear, it was actually something in the front, and that really made a big difference.
This is awesome, was there on Saturday, you guys had a great line coming out of the first esses and seetting up for the uphill climb. Also, my son was able to get on stage for the podium presentation, great first race experience for us.
"Morad Go Zoom" As a channel sub, casual sim racer and a modded MK7 GTI owner I can absolutely say that your channel and content are positively intriguing and fascinating. From watching your vids I'm learning so much about sim setup, racing and driving in real life as well. Would be great to see a foot camera as well while you're driving your beautiful GT car. Seeing your foot/brake/throttle movements and inputs at various sections of the track would be ideal if possible. Do you left foot brake in your GT car? As a Virginia resident I wish ACC (my main sim) had VIR in its track selections, would love to race it. Your car control (10) is superb and your racing results support that. I am surprised to see how jerky the wheel is at times during hard cornering, even with power assist steering. Please keep your content coming and most importantly stay safe on track and make it home every time. ☮
Awesome content Daniel!! Very helpful for us simracers, especially how quickly you're able to tell what works and what still needs improvement. Very impressive. Would be wonderful to hear what kind of adjustments in the end did the trick...
Morad go zoom! Thank you for making these videos Daniel. You are my go to YT channel at the moment. Keep it up, love how your channel is growing by the day.

Quality stuff Daniel. Thank you for your insight. I love watching live races. Gongratulation to your win at VIR. Good job. 👍 This racing is next level !!!
Loving this video Morad, gives a real insight into what you guys go through in the setup and the challenges you face trying to interpret to the team what you're feeling, I've become a real fan of the GT3 lately since getting a sim and getting stuck into Iracing... The extra downforce on the rear seemed like it accentuated the understeer, I'm wondering if the preload in the diff was causing the rear to become light coming out of turns? Hopefully one day I see you on the virtual track! 😂 ...Oh and btw, Morad goes zoom!
42:24 Morad Goes Zoom....wish I would have discovered your channel sooner. But better in the off season I guess. Got me inspired to re visit VIR and edit some pics... Party Car Goes back in time 😉
I was really hoping we would get a POV of the actual races. Is there copyright or something that prevents you from putting those on the channel? Can't wait for the next video. This is my favorite IRL racing channel right now. Morad goes ZOOM!!!!
I really want to be able to put a POV camera for the race itself but I won’t even be able to use a POV camera anymore because it is against the regulations. It’s more so for insurance because I cannot have the GoPro on my helmet. Also, I’m not 100% certain if I’m able to put the race footage online. I will ask and see if I can do something with it.
This track is only a couple hours from me and I have never been. I honestly did not even know it existed until I got on Iracing (sad, I know) but im going to start making some trips there soon. Great video man. This has to be so exhilarating
Love your content, especially when you challenge us with a question about setup. It makes me try and visualize all of the forces and dynamics happening with the car in different situations. A car is similar to a tensegrity, where you change one stressed component and it affects the balance of the whole. And, it's a tensegrity in constant motion and flux--fascinating. If I get this right the rear of the car wasn't staying planted when entry braking or trail braking, and it would understeer in mid-corner after the pitch had settled. If it was just a braking issue I would think decrease (front) brake bias, but because understeer is happening when off the brakes it sounds like you need to increase front grip by softening the front spring rate or lowering front tire pressure. Just spitballing. Either way--Morad go zoom around VIR. Sorry for the long post, I struggle with these concepts, and certainly am not qualified to rate your excellent car handling (10). Thank you for sharing!
Man, just amazing. Idk why but this week on iRacing I'm driving only the Ferrari Challenge here at VIR and it feels soooooo similar, I can feel what the car is trying to do and somehow what you are actually doing to control it. Maybe in corner exit like last corner feels a tiny bit different, but man, just amazing. Congratulations for your Win here and your car control is sublime. Just wow.
Pretty interesting. Keep on going. I believe in couple years when you're couple mil subs we will all have a smile about how it all started. BTW, you did start with an amazing picture quality from first day and it drags the attention. Oh, and 'Morad go Zoom' ;)
Thanks a lot for this insight, man. This was gold. I'd have been upping the diff pre-load to calm the rear down early on - but then I'm just a guy in his garage with a pretend racing car. MoradGoZoom 🤘
@@danielmorad If its either/or I think you made the right choice, personally. I do like hearing the raw engine noises and onboards but the insights from a real race driver are what set you apart from any old Motorsport channel. I think you have something unique most people can’t offer 😃
I have watched up to the first 12 mins of the video where you mention making a suggestion about what could be done to alter the handling of the car. I'm no expert but i like to make my own setups in sim and i would say that issue here could be a longitudinal weight transfer problem and If this were a sim i would say stiffening the front damper/slow bump settings or rear slow rebound could help. I'm gonna watch more to find out if you solve it or not. Was hoping that more info on what other changes were made if any to dial the car in but nevermind. Congratulations on the win and "Morad goes Zoom!"

VIR is honestly probably among the greatest north american tracks alongside Glen, Sebring, and Road Atlanta. Old school bumpy tracks with elevation are just the best.
This is insanely cool stuff and hearing the sound of that AMG onboard is music, I do have a question tho if the Mercedes got a slight update? I’ve never seen the onboard rear camera or front window supports
@@danielmorad ah ok, I thought the Mercedes got a little unannounced update which would’ve been weird, why made me think that is a lot of drivers I see are using them now but they didn’t last year
Morad Go Zoom! Great video. Just getting into sim racing on iRacing. Getting my gear in about a week w/ aspirations to be IRL on track in the future! Appreciate the inspiration, great work! 100
One thing that watching a real race driver/car combo really brings home is the difference in steering input compared to a simulator. Apart from the g-force and the rough ride which is hard/impossible to simulate accurately, the amount of steering inputs are just on another level. I guess it goes hand in hand with the bumpiness and g-forces to be fair, but you're just working so much harder here. Question: When you race this track (or any track) in the sim, what are you really trying to focus on? Because no simulator in the world is going to give you that amount of wheel input practice, surely.. That just seems to be a seat of the pants / on the day type of learning experience.
Great car control, keeping it together with the car being so nervous 9/10. My first thought is add more preload to the differential and lower the rear a little bit but that is on iRacing, but adding more wing is much more simplistic lol
Would moving the brake bias more forward be better? i've always moved brake bias around cause i dont understand setups lol. More rearward brake bias makes the car move around a bit more in the straight line braking but turns quite nicely with smooth release during the trail when what should be good trail isnt turning the car well. Maybe you guys had too much rear bias?
Morad go zoom. This content is amazing for guys like me who can barely afford my KA100 and sim setup much less to pay a track pro for this type of high quality insight and feedback. Keep it coming, and i'll be a massive fan.
I would have softened the front roll bar or reduced front compression dampening to slow the initial turn in and maybe give a bit more apex front roll to generate more front grip. I'll see what you did.
I notice mid corner, there is a jolted 30 or so degree in turning. I can see the car rotate on turn in, but what causes that sudden snap in steering? is that to initiate some over steer? I notice this with onboard footage from professional GT3 drivers...
I’ve had two years away from iRacing and about to get back into it now after having moved from UK to USA this year, and I just want to say Daniel, that I F*#@ing love your YT Chanel buddy! 😎👍 PS, I hope you come to Road America some time, I’d love to come and cheer you on!
Hey Daniel, love your video's. First pit I would have raised rear ride height one turn and adjusted compression on rear softer one click. This will help rear end grip for tighter corners, with out sacrificing the front end. just guess. Wing will only help with corners at a speed of 160kph + and at 160kph aero is just starting to really kick in. I think your comments to the engineer were correct "doesn't feel like areo but mechanical grip" I think you were spot on.
Great video..Your content has been a real help for me in the sim and I love the helmet cam footage. I think it would be interesting to to see you in Nascar. Morad Go ZOOOOOM!!!!
What are the tuning options for a quick on the fly adjustment? In NASCAR they can do track bar and wedge, IndyCar has weight jacker on the wheel, but I’m totally unaware of what GT3s have available
Hi Daniel! Amazing content as always and really love seeing what you do on ytack as well as in simracing and how you bring both worlds together in a way. For the setup. It was already said that there were rear wing changes and overall ride height but with the same balance. I'm thinking something with the ARB's? Because in the beginning of the last run the car seemed to be a bit more pointy. But the more you pushed the car tyres maybe were getting a bit to much to handle hense why the understeer? You talking about finding that balance again maybe had to do with finding the right balance in corner entry to mid corner?
@@danielmorad okay that'ts interesting! I could also see you guys played aroung with the diff preload to have a different on and off throttle response?! Anyways, really love what you doing here, keep it up/ I may join one or two of those iRacing races again :)
Morad go zoom. Great win! I have a couple of questions, [sorry if it's too may and forgive me if there stupid questions] what is the diameter of your steering wheel? It looks fairly wide irl, when the car was unstable your hands were really moving back and forth, is that the steering moving your hands or is that you trying to feel the tires? I have always wondered what that feels like irl and how i could feel that better in iracing. Again awesome content
Even when it comes to sims i tell everyone to take time to learn how to set up ur own car instead of paying for set ups. Ur always going to be faster if u understand what ur car can and can not do and how to fix most problems. Its really just common sense and alot of effort but worth it in the end

Thank for your review. They are truly the best part of every race you cover. 😁
If I told you, I’d have to harm you. I don’t want to do that. Lol.
Awesome content Daniel thank you for doing this! Congrats on your wins at VIR, Morad go zoom!!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much
Morad go zoom! Thank you for making these videos Daniel. You are my go to YT channel at the moment. Keep it up, love how your channel is growing by the day.
Thanks so much. We are pushing so hard to grow the channel and put out the best content. If you ever have any suggestions, I’m open to listening.
This is great! So interesting and would love to see more race content. Just love onboards. Do you have the motec stuff that shows inputs/RPM etc overaly? Congrats on a great weekend, I was cheering you on after my TCX race 👊
Also, Morad go zoom! 😂
Brilliant. Love it. Love the walkthrough of what your thinking about and how you evaluate the car.
Wow this car really looks like a diamond in a close up view. Looks so new and beautiful
Thank you
Quality stuff Daniel. Thank you for your insight.
I love watching live races.
Gongratulation to your win at VIR.
Good job. 👍
This racing is next level !!!
Thank you so much
Loving this video Morad, gives a real insight into what you guys go through in the setup and the challenges you face trying to interpret to the team what you're feeling, I've become a real fan of the GT3 lately since getting a sim and getting stuck into Iracing... The extra downforce on the rear seemed like it accentuated the understeer, I'm wondering if the preload in the diff was causing the rear to become light coming out of turns? Hopefully one day I see you on the virtual track! 😂 ...Oh and btw, Morad goes zoom!
Very good call on the diff. See you at the track!
Awesome video! I picked up a pair of your gloves, can't wait to put them on! Also your car control is 10/10 hahaha (morad go zoom)
Awesome! Thank you!
Morad goes zoom. Keep the awesome content coming!!
Thanks so much. We’ll keep it coming.
Morad goes zoom. Awesome weekend for the team. Auberlin was right there
Yes it was! He was putting the pressure on, but I was able to soak it all up
This track is only a couple hours from me and I have never been.
Really good guesses haha. And it’s cool to get you thinking what could change and be better.
So cool to see from the POV. Thanks for showing us this. DO you try and use the ABS or do you try and stay off of it?
I use it as a reference point, but I don’t abuse it
Man, just amazing.
Just wow.
MORADGOZOOM!!! Great video. Watched every minute. Can't wait for the next one. Congratz on the win!!
Thank you for uploading these.
Pretty interesting. Keep on going. I believe in couple years when you're couple mil subs we will all have a smile about how it all started. BTW, you did start with an amazing picture quality from first day and it drags the attention.
Oh, and 'Morad go Zoom' ;)
"Morad goes Zoom"!
You certainly did.... super result at VIR and what a great insightful video - loved it!
More please 🙏🏼 🤙🏼
Thank you! Will do!
More of this! Awesome content Daniel! Morad go zoom!
Thanks a lot for this insight, man. This was gold. I'd have been upping the diff pre-load to calm the rear down early on - but then I'm just a guy in his garage with a pretend racing car. MoradGoZoom 🤘
I can watch onboards for hours. The engine noise is like meditation for me lol I listen to it while I work sometimes😂
I was actually contemplating if I should put up just raw footage without me even talking over it. I feel like that would work well.
Been following your channel for a few months and how I found the Fanatec GT World Challenge series. Was at VIR to watch both victories in person. Congratulations on the wins! You both are awesome drivers!
MORAD GO ZOOM!!
I first saw you on instagram ads for your gloves which I wanna buy. I run iracing and the Merc GT3 is my favorite car by far and I always run it.
This is real awesome content!! I was actually watching the race on TH-cam and saw you win at VIR. KEEP IT UP
Thanks so much man!! Well, if you ever get a pair, use RADNATION and you can get 10% off your first order :) enjoy.
Awesome content. Thanks, for people trying to learn and improve either in simracing or reallife content like this video is a gift. Congratulations, and gonfor more wins, and more content. Thanks again
congrats for the rides at detroit and vir! sorry to see your car get crashed out at watkins so fast and not being able to even get in. that pit strat in detroit was mint (your driving wasnt bad either lol) and that pass before getting into the esses at vir was fun to watch. see ya on twitch
Thanks so much. It’s been a good month of June. Trying to continue the momentum into July and the rest of the season.
VIR is honestly probably among the greatest north american tracks alongside Glen, Sebring, and Road Atlanta. Old school bumpy tracks with elevation are just the best.
Thanks for posting these videos, it's fascinating stuff.
Love it! Looking forward to more of this sort of in-depth in car footage.
This is insanely cool stuff and hearing the sound of that AMG onboard is music, I do have a question tho if the Mercedes got a slight update? I’ve never seen the onboard rear camera or front window supports
The camera is an aftermarket edition that we are allowed to use, and the window Support is mandated from some series
You are the GOAT dude, thanks sooooo much!!!!
This is an awesome video. I've been using the Tomy Turnin Turbo Dashboard to improve my driving. I think I might need to up my game .
This is just beyond awsome!! Who needs a VR headset when we get a ring side seat to this!! 😂
Morad go zoom my man. Sick video I love these breakdowns you've been sharing of real life processes and the prep for a race
Morad go zoom. This content is amazing for guys like me who can barely afford my KA100 and sim setup much less to pay a track pro for this type of high quality insight and feedback. Keep it coming, and i'll be a massive fan.
Great video Daniel! Really enjoyed this. Hope all is well... your living the dream :)
I would have softened the front roll bar or reduced front compression dampening to slow the initial turn in and maybe give a bit more apex front roll to generate more front grip. I'll see what you did.
I'm more of a WEC fan but this FP video has given me exactly what I wanted
I notice mid corner, there is a jolted 30 or so degree in turning. I can see the car rotate on turn in, but what causes that sudden snap in steering? is that to initiate some over steer? I notice this with onboard footage from professional GT3 drivers...
You are a big inspiration and also a wonderful driver keep doing what your doing
I appreciate that
I agree this is really great education video! "Morad go zoom"
I’ve had two years away from iRacing and about to get back into it now after having moved from UK to USA this year, and I just want to say Daniel, that I F*#@ing love your YT Chanel buddy! 😎👍
PS, I hope you come to Road America some time, I’d love to come and cheer you on!
Thank you so much. Hope to see you online with us in a hosted Race soon. You can join my discord and Race along with us.
LOL my comment above was before I watch the second driver change!!
My favorite race track in the world!
Great vid, thnx!!👍
Glad you liked it!
Thanks so much. Those are some great guesses. We did adjust the roll bar at one point, but it wasn’t the solution to the issue.
Sometimes it can be hard to understand, but if you just fiddle around, you can get a good understanding of what to do
@@danielmorad I agree. I learned from watching countless of hours of TH-cam and really just wanting to learn. I guess that's the first step is having the passion of racing or sim racing. Skill will follow
Awesome video Dan thank you!
