For Dean, love is doing EVERYTHING to save a loved one, for Sam, it is respecting the loved ones wishes. The tragedy of Supernatural is that they are both giving the other the love they want, which leaves both feeling like the other doesn't really love them. Dean doesn't feel loved because as Sam just stated, he wouldn't do everything to same Dean, and Sam knows Dean won't respect his wishes, so how can he feel loved.
This episode is one I think about often. Its actually makes me sad. She really was trying to not only survive without killing humans but also do it in a way that benefited both them and humans too. I thought this was a genius idea to basically be living liposuction, the pudding was merely to be able to do it without freaking out the humans with the very scary visuals. I don't think they should have had her leave. Something like what she was doing is a very beneficial service to a country that does have an obesity problem. I dunno she is one of the good ones.
I know im late to these reactions but i just found your channel, loving them btw and cant wait to watch other shows. When Dean was eating the donut that was Jensen trying to break Donna but the actress held her own😊 I bet those 2 hazed every guest star that came through 😂😂
I was on a Supernatural fan page on Facebook one day recently and some guy posted a snapshot of when Dean said that Donnas ex was a dick and proceeded to say that Donnas ex wasn’t a dick because “having standards doesn’t mean that you’re a dick” tons of people responded and called the poster out on his comment
I hate when the boys don't talk or are bickering with each other 😭 I do understand where Sam is coming from, but I agree with you. What's so wrong with Dean wanting to keep his only family alive? As usual your thought process is spot on. However: DONNAAAAA ❤️❤️❤️
That is not Dean’s call to make. If Sam doesn’t want to come back, that is his choice, and Dean Tricking him back against his will was wrong. Also, because Dean doesn’t want to be alone, gates of Hell are still open. That is just not a good enough reason for any of this to happen. It is understandable that Dean doesn’t want to be alone, nobody would, but it was selfish of him to put that fear in front of locking all demons to hell, and going against the will of the person who is actually dying.
Obviously he wants Sam alive but he never thought about the consequences for SAM, seriously? Sam has some major trauma with possession, with meg then Lucifer both using HIS body to hurt and kill people, then your own brother consents FOR you to have your mind and body violated AGAIN. You can't tell me Dean thought Sam would be okay after that, it was completely selfish and just flat out wrong
There's nothing wrong with him wanting to protect his little brother or trying his hardest to keep him alive. However, the way he did it was wrong. Even if he didn't know what was going to happen, he still tricked Sam into letting someone INSIDE his body, and he ended up being used as the vessel that killed Kevin. How can he NOT be mad?
He would have if he had any clue what happened. For all Sam knew Dean and Cas could have disenegrated in the blast. There was literally no clues as to what happened. But yea, Sam not trying to figure out after a while of clearing his head, is the first sign of what he said here
yeah and that whole storyline was awful and so out of character that even Jared hated it. So what? That gives Dean the right to treat Sam like this? To cram yet another angel down his throat after having been possessed by the Devil too?
@@youngeeneden1594 Nah. Dean was wrong to do this to Sam. Sam was wrong in season 8 mostly for abandoning Kevin. He should have looked for Dean, but I might have been able to accept it begrudgingly. But him not looking for Kevin was absolutely horrible.
He not mad at Dean for keeping him alive. When Sam and Dean spoke before death Sam agreed with Dean about staying alive. But he didnt tell him about gadreel. He was tricked into being possessed and hurting innocent people. He's mad that when Everything came to a head Dean claimed to take it all on himself but left Sam to pick up the pieces. Sam would definitely do anything to save his brother but by not telling and allowing innocent people to be hurt it crossed a line.
I get both character's points here - but I do think Sam would indeed save Dean if he could. Unless we're supposed to assume that he is no longer the same character as he once was. I know he didn't look for Dean while he was in purgatory but that was just a stupid writer's decision to give him an arc later... But anyway. When I watched this season, I hated this episode, because it was "stupid filler"... If I was bingeing the show, I probably wouldn't mind it now though
Donna is smart! Agree with your bacon comment. Have you ever had candied bacon? OMG! Yep. That's what your fat looks like. I say that while I'm eating Cheez-Its. Love your reactions. Going back over your old ones. Sam's remark just cut Dean down to his soul. Once your emotions are involved, you don't know what you'd do.
What stupid is the fact that Dean is mad at Sam because Sam is mad at Dean because of Dean's decisions and secrets about freaking angel possession Sam's body which lead to Kevin's murder by Sam's hands. So, Sam has the right to be pissed and having trust issues not less than Dean had about Sammy in previous seasons. But anyway, my boys are good, I blame all the bullshit on the writers who try to force the drama 😂😂😂
I always get yelled at on social media when I say anything negative about Sam, but he's definitely not my favorite character. He's not even in my top 10. And the heartbreak on Dean's face at the end of this episode made me like Sam even less. I totally get Sam's argument, I do. And from a viewer standpoint, it seems logical that Sam should've died and locked away the demons. Wouldn't have done anything about the angel problem that he likes to bring up, but still. I get it. But Dean loses everyone. He truly believes that everyone he touches, dies. He had no one. He felt betrayed by Cas and his only family left was dying before his eyes. In the logical sense, yes, it's better to trade one life for the many that will die from the demons continuing to roam free. But when it comes down to you and one of the only people you love or that loves you, to you that one life means everything. People give season 8 a lot of shit, but honestly I think season 9 is my least favorite season. I'm loving your reactions. I first found you at the beginning of your GoT reactions, and when I saw you were doing my favorite show, I knew it would be gold. Can't wait for more.
That is a weak argument. First off, Sam has lost just as many people. Second, When the person you are trying to save doesn’t want to come back, and when you are one hand slap away from sealing all demons to hell, then you swallow that fear of being alone and accept it. It was extremely selfish action, even if it is understandable reaction from Dean. Sam is 100% right in this.
In this fandom Dean is forgiven for everything he does no matter how bad it is. Even when Sam is in the right it's always poor widdle Dean. It has made me dislike Dean a lot more and after season 10 I don't even like him anymore. Sam has been possessed by a demon, he's been possessed by freaking' Lucifer and we all know how that went. Yet of course it's okay for Dean to cram a psycho angel into his brother again. For real? And here? Sam is literally saying "What's the point of me being alive?" and Dean feels freakin sorry for himself and make it about himself? Wow. But sure, Sam's the bad guy. Nothing new there.
I can't even begin to understand how people can think what Dean did was right, please tell me how Dean thought consenting for Sam, who's been through major trauma with being possessed, was the right thing to do? Think of it this way, you are poisoned and dying on a hospital bed unconscious, a guy comes to your loved one with the antidote but he would have to rape you to administer it, you wake up and find out your loved one agreed to let him do it, how do you feel? Except it's even worse because being possessed means your entire being was violated, mind and body, being tricked in your own mind is just another shitty layer to it because now you can't ever be confident that your body and mind are yours ever again, who knows whether what you're seeing is real or what memories you had actually happened? Now tell me, how can someone who loved you, do that to you?
@@BabyScatha honestly, I couldn't believe deans attitude in this season, undoubtedly his lowest point in my eyes, he's throwing himself a pity party while Sam has to deal with his body and mind having being controlled and used AGAIN, because of deans choices. Meanwhile people are like poor Dean! What a horrible brother Sam is for not agreeing that he'd let an angel possess dean to keep him alive! Btw has Dean ever been possessed at this point? The closest was probably the shapeshifter that had his memories or the jinn, both of which were not IN him, he doesn't even know what it feels like to be possessed and that pisses me off even more that he thought he could make that choice for Sam
And here comes the Sam/Jared stans to get mad at my opinion instead of just pressing the thumbs down and moving on. Literally EVERY TIME I say something negative about Sam or Jared this happens.
This is the episode that I really struggle to love sam or even like hiim. I’m also not a huge cas fan either. Dean has flaws but he will always be the character that I feel for the most and also he is loyal. I also love Donna and I always wanted her and dean to grow closer together. I ship them!
WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG!!! YOU'RE IN DENIAL! what Sam said was not bullshit. What did Sam do last season while Dean was in Purgatory??? He moved on with his life because their past experiences has shown them that it always goes bad when it comes to bringing each other back from the dead or the brink of death. I think you're the one lying to yourself here. You need to accept what is being displayed here on the show. This season is exploring Dean's toxic codependency towards Sam regardless of him having a say on the matter and putting Sam's life on the line. This was hinted before in Season 6 when Dean was trying to get Sam's soul back for Sam, yes Sam needed his soul back but to sacrifice your own brothers well being mentally and physically to make it more convenient for yourself??? No that needs to be addressed. Maybe there is more to why Dean wanted Sam to have his soul back, because he feels the need to have control over everything and play the big brother over his little brother and not have Sam be near the title level of a vicious hunter like Dean. Because it would be like Dean is looking at himself, just like how Dean cannot stand to be alone without Sam because he can't even look at himself without having that title of superiority and hero complex over someone in his life. I know this is extreme and hard for you to accept, but this needs to be addressed. Everyone should be held accountable for their actions regardless of your feelings. Also Sam was not stating opinions, he was stating facts.
No, he wasn't. The Purgatory thing is completely moot and holds no weight. It was shifty writing and totally out of character for Sam to do that, Jared himself has said so. Also, Sam later admits that he was wrong here, and he does everything under the sun to save Dean all through seasons 10 and 11, even going against Dean's wishes. They're both awesome. They both love each other intensely. They both will do whatever it takes to save the other. Those are the facts.
Dean is infuriating. For me his character was permanently ruined from this season on. I still love him in the previous seasons, but man. The character butchering of both of them really is just awful. Your brother asks you what's the point of him being alive and Dean makes it about himself. Great, Dean.

The gag reel is good for this season but I love how both Jensen and Briana tell the story of him trying to break her but Jared broke first.
