Beautiful. I've been a 64 mechanic/inspector for 21 years now, and I'm super pumped for this to hit early access. Keep up the phenomenal work, gentlemen!
I was avionics on F18s for years, when the module dropped and I found they had a lot of the ibits and pbits I was over the moon. Putting on the VR and just looking around while sitting on the hardstand, I got goose bumps. Just need to find somewhere that sells hyd-oil and avtur scented candles! You're in for one hell of an experience, and as much as I love the Hornet, I think everyone has a spot in their heart for the Apache. You're a lucky bloke.
I can't even begin to wrap my head around the complexities involved in creating such a module (or any, for that matter). I understand you guys wanting to keep some secrets and all, but it'd be *awesome* if you did some development notes videos showing us just a taste of the dev process. I know I'd watch for sure!
Would be nice to see a short follow up video showing a Remote (buddy lase) engagement and also showing an Autonomous engagement on a moving target. Love your work
Cheers Wags, you've done it again. Already having sleepless nights, and here's yet another thing to occupy my mind while trying to nod off. This is going to be soooo much fun! Really looking forward to the startup video when it comes, because I'll probably spend the first couple of days just enjoying flying this bird before I even try to fiddle with the weapons. More, please!!! Just to be clear though. if I understand correctly then autonomous mode is akin to using a TGP on a jet to lase the target, and remote mode is like getting a buddy or JTAC lase, correct?
Wonderfully complex… this will keep us busy for a long time. Happy to wait until you have this ready to go. This is truly a golden age for aviation simulation. Thanks for all the work from the team and to Wags for keeping us on the edge of our seats!

Amazing work Wags! Both from the CPG/G seat than from the Pilot Seat. The attention to detail and to systems is in another level. Worth of note, though, is that the most complex weapon system is the least complex to shoot.
I understand this will probably be met with a wait for the George video, but I was wondering if George will be able to autonomously search for targets during flight.
Magnificent and very well explained. Thanks Wags. These wonderful teasers, it like being shown an awesome gift, then being told "be patient, you'll get it later, I'm playing with it now"... gotta stop watching, it hurts so much ;-)

I believe BigNewy or NineLine mentioned that you will still be able to mount the FCR at initial release, it just won't be functional until they model it later in Early Access.
@@carleb Then you need to study up some. The FCR is a very new addition to the Apache. Most of the life of the helicopter has been with out it. Also, not all AH-64Ds have the FCR installed only the motherships have those, and the other usually do not have them. Is beam divergence (incl. first and last return) of the LRFD modelled? Wouldn't it be a problem to lase so close over the crest at the 3rd target (15:00) as the first return would come from the ground in front of the tgt thus the hellfire hitting the dirt?
loving the release of the AH64. I am currently following your hellfire tutorial but cant find the correct button to lase like you did at 12:38:00 Ive tried RHG Laser Tracker mode (LT) Switches and RHG LRFD Trigger Second Detent none of which are working. Thanks in advance
I'm looking forward to seeing the command system for the pilot's AI for solo play (I want to have more fun as a gunner :)). Will the system be similar to Petrovich's mi-24? Edit: I paid more attention now to the circle with altitude, speed and etc on the left of the screen! (9:12) I think this answers my question :)
Wag's great video. Question, is there a way to ripple off 2 Hellfires while designating one, and other buddy lased? Say to hit two targets at the same time?
It is something certainly on our radar but will require a significant change to our network code. At least at launch, you'll need to be in the pilot seat if you wish to fly without another person in the aircraft. However, you can do everything from the backseat.
@@MattWagner sounds good, hopefully a thing of the future but I know y’all rlly have your hands full right now. Is there a specific reason that ED uses a different system for George that is similar to petrovich compared to for example the Jester Menu in the F14?
@@Sprud_ Because it much useful and easier to use to command a helicopter AI that can require much more frequent movement commands and not block the forward view in any way.
One thing I've always wondered, with lazing targets, I assume in real life you both need to be relatively on the same side of the target for the seeker to see it, or can it just follow the beam itself into the target? Like if my wingman is on the south side of a target and lazing the target for me, and I fire from the North side of the target, would the missile still track?
Good question...However I believe that is valid if you do a LOAL High shot. It should work because the missile seeker head is looking for the laser from above and the wingman would be illuminating it from above. However if the wingman altitude is a bit low, I believe the missile seeker head would have problems finding the target, since most of the illumination by the wingman would be on the side of the target, not above.
My guess is that the seeker head needs to be able to see the reflection of the laser on the target. If your buddy is lazing the other side of a building so that the reflection is not visible on your side, then the missile won't see it either and won't track.
If it works like is does in the JF using the WMD pod lazing function then you dont need to be relative. I think all lazing does it paint a coordinate back to the targeting computer or pod and them transfer that to relevant parties using the same lazing code on there targeting pods. no idea if thats accurate but you deffo dont need to be relative. however with this getting the K variants of the Hellfires it should have LOAL functionality so even if you did lose the target it should find a new target (might not be what you want) but it does give options if I suppose they have modelled the laser needing to be relative for it to be picked up
if you go back when he brings up the george menu you can see you can change the options for the trajectory, I think he didnt do any of that cause he is saving it for the video for george.
I’m soooo confused with the hellfires. I select the target, laz the target with the second detent. I get the large box but when I select the first detent, nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

Sadly, I tried everything and same results! I have no idea what the issue could be, but most likely it’s something small……. When I zoom in on the tank in the training scenario, I press the Virpil Alpha trigger to the first detent, I get a lock with the laser and get the large box. I pull the trigger for to the second detent and no missed fires off the rail. When I look at the left MFD it shows the missile goes from AT to AR, I believe. Suggestions? Also, how can we adjust the monocle, the heading tape is so far up on my VR headset I can’t see it. I adjust the Question 3 but nothing works. Is there a way to adjust it in the settings, like moving in the seat?

@@ben1869 It's a pretty sure bet that this will be the case because it's the case on the real helicopter. One of my gripes with some airframes, (the M2000 specifically, which I know ED didn't make) is the binding options could be much better. Thanks again for the update.
Hey Wags I have a problem I can't seem to find the answer to . I am trying to learn the role of CPG on the AH-64D and I hear alot about "Lock on Before Launch" for the Hellfire. I can not seem to find how to do that, any suggestions. Thanks a lot.
Basically. It's not called CCIP though, if the seeker head can't detect the laser it defaults to LOAL or Lock On After Launch, then chuck it over the hill and halfway through the missiles flight you could essentially pop up from behind the hill and start lasing (assuming the missile was programmed to look for the code the TADS is firing), and you'll be unmasking for a shorter amount of time.

but at 12:40 you say squirt the laser real quick and get the large solid box. I line up target, press LRFD trigger, get the X but no box and missile fires but will not lock on? do you have to hold down the laser switch all the time the missile is in flight?
Hellfires are interesting, I'm sure this is in the manual or at least easily available information, but I did find myself wondering if I could have the advantage of Over The Horizon capabilities if I had someone on the ground able to laze a target for me. I guess it would depend on the available terrain features and ultimate distance to the target but I'm sure it's possible. I really can't wait to fly this thing. @@MattWagner I kind of sort it out later. Thanks Matt for the reply. btw do you know when the Air to Air missiles will come to Apache and the Hind?
@@earthexplorer579 Soon for the Hind, but unrealistic for this version of the -64.
@@MattWagner Btw there is a bug i think in Mi 24.when i take front seat(not pilot seat) and press cntrl v it doesn't show pilot controls.
I cant even run DCS and I love your videos!
When you were firing the hellfires were you in active pause or was the auto hover actually that stable?
In Hover, if BOB UP symbology was up, you'd better see that the aircraft was in fact moving around a bit.
@@MattWagner so awesome
Wagz, when is possible to swtich between copilot and pilot seat in multiplayer like gazelle ?? Its a nice feature for solo player
Yes please, that's my gripe with the hind. Always have to be pilot (maybe I need friends)
Is it possible for say a hornet to designate for an apache and vice versa?
Any way to ground stabilize the tads screen? Seems like I’m always trying to stay on target.
Use LMC.
thanks Wags, we're all excited for the AH-64, and we all look forward to every video. Furthermore, thanks for reminding all of us nit wits to keep in on topic. Is there any recommendations you could make regarding what controllers, inputs, or stick that will best fit the AH-64 when it comes out? One of my gripes with some airframes, (the M2000 specifically, which I know ED didn't make) is the binding options could be much better. Thanks again for the update.
Hey Wags I have a problem I can't seem to find the answer to . I am trying to learn the role of CPG on the AH-64D and I hear alot about "Lock on Before Launch" for the Hellfire. I can not seem to find how to do that, any suggestions. Thanks a lot.
It's discussed in this video, th-cam.com/video/E089V9d06aA/w-d-xo.html
thanks for the update Wags
wait, does this beast have auto hover or something, or is George doing the hover?
Both
@@MattWagner waaaooowww!
Soooo…can you use Hellfires in CCIP by not lasing, and chuck them over a hill at a target? ;)
Hey, my box didnt go big. Any idea why? I did everything as matt did until that point.
If in Direct mode, the seeker in the missile does not see the correct code.
@@MattWagner Yes, rockie misstake. Thx for your time Mr. Wagner. Great job and sorry for such a stupid question.
Any idea when we may see the Defensive Systems vid? Thanks for all your hard work Wags!
Next apparently.
“And if you’re a masochist” got me died
LOL. I had to rewind the video some seconds to confirm that I heard that.
what does "Bal Limit" mean that prevents me from firing thks
The selected weapon is outside of range.
hello Matt why I get pylon error?
how to control m299 launcher up,down?
are those fires the well fires from the oil wells?
Hi Wags, did you mean to talk about how to switch between using PRI or using ALT on the laser and on the hellfire as well? (Or did I miss it?)
Is there a limited time that you can lase before the laser burns out?
Nope
hello Matt Wagner, how come all products from Eagle Dynaùics have changed?? When flying the A10 & F-16 I get those radarscreens in the left and right top corner when I have the outside view.... what happend and how do I make them go away. Also my whole HOTAS system is messed up. has there been an update? I have sent you an email but no response....
Please use our forums here for technical support: forums.eagle.ru/forum/474-general-bugs/
It sounds like you have "game mode" on
Im missing something here - i cannot for the life of me get the centre flir display to slew (and I tried slave button)?
Please make sure that the TADS is selected as your Sight, not HMD.
@@MattWagner thanks that sorted it :)
but at 12:40 you say squirt the laser real quick and get the large solid box. I line up target, press LRFD trigger, get the X but no box and missile fires but will not lock on? do you have to hold down the laser switch all the time the missile is in flight?
@@alheeley No, I said squirt the laser to just check the range. To then engage, press and hold the laser to designate.
@@MattWagner ok thanks Wags
When do new video come?
As fast as I can. Please understand that I must balance these with my producer tasks.
@@MattWagner Thank you.
I haven't been this excited for the release of something since GTA 5 was released in '13.
now thats all weapons covered, are we going to get procedures videos like takeoff, taxi, startup etc?
Yes, I'm going as fast as I can.
@@MattWagner don’t overwork yourself!!! thank you for all you do for us :)
Will George speak on release ? Will he speak in both seats (pilot and cpg ) ? (i'm aware Casmo will voice him)
We will try our very best.
Is the map to the right showing the digital terrain shading?
Yes, based on ownship alt.
So this means that you can use a buddy laze from a pod equipped aircraft?
Would love a beginners guide to CP/G Wags if you get bored :) Def some controls definitions etc... not sure where to even start TBH.
Noted!
Will it be possible to set our own codes within the LST page using the KU?
Yes, you can set PRF an PIM codes from the FREQ bezel.
Well done as usual, Matt. Will we be getting any other AGM-114 variants in the future?
