A big difficulty at the beginning is using the 8 way hats on the joystick to operate the MAN TRK. When I started using the Xbox controller as a CPG and bound the MAN TRK to the analog thumbstick axis, I gained a lot of precision and the ability to aim easily even without LMC and IAT.
@@kirumy-toz Yeah, it's a good choice but it has one problem - you have to play around with the binds. I use the JoyToKey software to map the left and right triggers of the controller as different keys from the keyboard, so I can set them as modifiers in DCS. Currently I have everything I need except for LST, but I don't think there will be much need to use it and I can easily set bind on a regular keyboard.
@@mcgherkinstudios I'm not really sure, but the name of this "MAN TRK" is "Thumb Force Controller" and in real life you can aim the TADS much more precisely depending on how much (how much force?) you move the MAN TRK. I've never seen footage of CPG doing those weird big "jumping" moves like in DCS, it's always smooth.
Hi, just seen this pop up ... thanks. Starting out and learning fresh ... flying coop with a friend who is flying back seat. Quite an adjustment coming off the KA-50! S!
The other benefit of the LMC is that it calculates lead for the guns and the Lima hellfires (maybe even the rockets?). I've noticed people wondering why they miss shots even with gamer-level manual tracking skills.
im starting to think that i need to take the stubborn out of my ass and learn the LMC. I've gone as far as using my entire stick as the axis bind for man track so i can maintain picture on a target while the pilots moving but still won't touch that LMC button and i don't know why.
@@aaronwhite1786 I'm with you, it takes a sec to get it and at first I just wanted some sort of area track like on the fixed wings but I really like using LMC once it clicked in my head

@@CasmoTV haha sure I realize and I understand that. I was just wondering why the "real" Apache never got a feature like ground stabilization or some kind of tracking stabilization in this direction for the targeting. You understand what I mean. Is the LMC the only way the gun compensates automatically for lead/lag. Every time I use the gun with manual tracking, even if I hold the laser on to constantly update range data, the shots miss unless I'm really close to the target. Even then, I usually have to put in some Kentucky windage based on where the previous burst hit to walk the rounds onto the target.
Have a question for you, I'm having issues with the apache specifically the kneeboard not working. Ever had any issues with this? I've been searching forums and forums and youtube, I can't find anything on how to see it. I'm pressing k and shift+k even double checked my key binding's and still nothing. I feel like it's off the screen somewhere (reason for saying this is when I hit the kneeboard key's it shows a regular mouse cursor). Running a curved monitor just trying to knock out missions.
Hey Casmo, i hope you can give me a bit of info if it is ok. Is the IHADS symbology sincronised in both seats? we found that out yesterday, and are not shure if that was the case before the patch :) thx for helping :)
I've had no issues tracking targets with the new ob release, wide, lase, LMC 123, Tap, light taps in, Release thumb controller, step in, adjust if required, etc don't stop lasing until stablised.. Have tracked targets moving at 60-70k/ph the issue is that most people just tap it and expect it to work unfortunately for most of them just like the rear seat needs to do pilot shit (to quote Brad), the front seat needs to do gunner shit if they want things to work. What is frustrating is that DCS sometimes lases 'through targets' rather than reflecting energy off targets so your better off aiming at the base of the target then it's centeriod

@@CasmoTV Yeah im not a qualified engineer but code wise and mechanics wise, seems easier to just implement linear motion control like that than trying to hold the image steady. Much more "manual" and less things to break.

I serisouyl wonder why there is no ground stabilizing option in the AH-64 like other modules have with the targeting pod.
You realize that the modules are based on the real life aircraft and the Apache doesn’t have “ground stabilization”

If you are lasing and moving the line of sight it assumes your target is moving.

Sounds like the "ground stabilization" of the lmc was implemented while they added the auto tracker

Casmo, random question. Is there a bind to reduce the brightness of the IHADS in the front seat?
It’s on the TEDAC.
Did you make this guide just for GS?
Nooooo 😏
I saw you playing with GS and it pains me seeing him completely ignores LMC when it actually helps.
Same, not sure if it was edited out, but he needed to store more targets and I would be switching between DTV and FLIR more.
He makes a lot of visually appealing choices (ie FLIR looks cooler than TV).

I think the number one skill underdeveloped these days is be flexible and make things happen.
I mean the simulator is suppose to be as close to the real thing as possible. If it’s not correct then it needs fixing.
