- In this video I’ll be repotting my two 10 gallon Mikawa Yatsubusas. Repotting is one of my favorite things to do in the garden because I get to appreciate my tree on a deeper level.

I gotta say Dereck, you are getting to be a professional at these videos. Beautiful presentation filled with valuable information and demonstration. Great job. I look forward to your next video.
I’m trying my brother. I’m trying hard here. I struggle so much with the language but I just keep trying and trying my bro.
Excellent video on repotting your Mikawa! I’ll be doing this soon with my 3G. #maplenutz 🥜

Awesome. Post pictures on the group. Thanks 🙏
#Maplenutz love Mikawas
Great video
Thanks 🙏🏻
#MapleNutz##MapleNutz Those wide low pots is the pots I think I'm going to go with. Whenever I get trees big enough.
to fit in those
I totally recommend these pots. 💯
@@MapleNutz Where did you get the pots from? I don't remeber if you said in another video.

Beautiful mikawas bro, and great tutorial 👍
I totally didn't think of expose the nebari (root flare) of my none bonsai trees. Thank you and keep the great work #maplenutz
Glad I could help!!!
#maplenutz
Why do you call the root Flare? In bonsai trees they call it Nebari. Thanks for the info, I didn't know that that weird root could kill the tree, but that's why I watch your channel. To be schooled on Japanese Maples.👍
Nebari is the same thing. USA is root flare. Also some people call nebari a single root that is exposed or single surface root and root flare the entire bottom portion of the trunk where the tree starts to spreads appart with roots. I had an emerald green arborvitae that died due to being choked by its own roots. It took me a while to understand it.
Nice 👍 #maplenutz
I bought a green cascade 1 gallon and the root flair has a similar structure with one root wrapping around itself but I’m a little nervous to prune it bc it’s so young…. Decisions decisions. Awesome looking mikawa tho!
Don’t do it now. Your maple needs as much roots as it can have for the hot summer months
Also if it’s too young just let it grow and see what it does with time. You can always cut it later.
Nice repotting job, #MapleNutz
Thanks 🙏
great - looking forward to updates, interested to see the limb “nubs”/bumps removal #maplenutz
Thanks 🙏
Thank you for sharing your videos! Very informative. I just got 4 small Japanese maples and recently have very hot and humid weather here in the East Coast. Should I put my young maples in the shade during the day? Thank you!
It depends on the cultivar. Some can take full sun and others can’t. Best you can do is to have them on morning sun only.
@@MapleNutz Thank you so much for your response!
You got it. Please feel free to comment if you have further questions. Stay Nutty my Friend ✌🏻🍁🥜
Maple nutz are you going to MrMaple open house in July?
No, I cant. It’s just too much for me right now. I believe they should’ve waited a bit more before doing another one.
What size are the pots and how many gallon are they?
That pot is about 15 gallons approximately.
Hola, esta época del año es buena para podar los Japanese Maples???
Las ramas solamente.
where did you buy your soil? whats the composition? thank you
There’s a link in the description that you might enjoy. I make my own soil.
Amigo, i just bought a Adonidia palm tree cuatro, que soil and winter tips can you give me, for indoor and outdoor. And feeding. Thanks bro..
Adonidia Palm trees are trees for zones like my home in Puerto Rico (zone 12-13). They will not survive USA winters, maybe the very bottom of florida (zone 10-11). They aren’t meant to be indoors unless you can give it a lot of sun lights. As far as fertilizer, you can fertilize with Palm Tree fertilizer once a month or follow package directions. I use miracle grow for palm trees in granular form and fertilize once a month from March-October.
@@MapleNutz how about in a pot, I got mine in Tampa Florida.
@@franciscoespinoza5912 you have better chances than me of survival. Watch out for temperatures below 45 degrees. They hate frost winds. Ideals temps are 70-95 degrees but can survive much higher temps with proper watering and can survive lower temperatures as long as it’s brief.
@@franciscoespinoza5912 growing it in pot in tampa should be fairly easy. When it gets cold just put it inside the house near a window and once temps raise put it back outside.
Do you ever have problems with squirrels chewing up your trees?
No, and I have 5 of them active in my garden. My trick is squirrel food mixed with peanuts. They will eat bark as a last resort. If you keep them well fed, they stay away from your maples. This has been my experience personally. The day I find one of my maples chewed up by squirrels then we go to war, simple. I already had a war with rabbits and they aren’t allowed in my garden for violating our agreement.
