Yes. I've seen too many crime cases committed on men and boys where the killer is some monstrous bitch. Anecdotally I know quite a lot of males who suffered abuse, including my own dear man. The number of times he survived attempted murder is chilling. If the cops showed up, they would remove him despite the obvious abuse.

My father was abused by my mother their entire relationship. Even my older brother & I were fearful of her at a young age. Mom once described she made dad sit in a tub of bleach. I'd hear her, often, hollering at dad when she thought we were asleep. She was mostly verbally abusive towards him, and not physically.

As she sounds like a classic narcissist, she not only looked for a victim but broke hm down, bit by bit until he BELIEVED he had no worth, was deserving of the behavior he was subject to he would not have had the ability to leave, hell even children had more power, he was broken and isolated from his support network, it's how narcs work. I hope someone is watching those children, now adults, very carefully. They are also victims, who think such behavior to another human is normal, that to inflict suffering is okay. I feel sorry for them and the people who come into their lives. RIP Andrew 🙏

everybody i've ever spoken to who's survived abuse has told me that the mental scars lasted much, much longer than the physical scars. the merry-go-round of abuse is purely psychological. the human psyche is resilient but malleable, and abusers take advantage of that.
and here's the other thing - they know they're doing it. they pretend not to. but they do. if they didn't know they were doing it, the mask wouldn't be there. everybody in the world would face their abuse. but it's just at home, right?
glad you got out of there. that's not an easy thing to do.

We get to see young sociopaths in cases like 2 yr old James Bulgar’s murder by 2 ten yr old boys! Sociopaths are born lacking empathy compassion, & conscience. They do not change. They can mimic human emotion but it only to blend in. 99% of People believe that looking human means you ARE human. This is why people in prison are released & re commit what got them into prison. Sociopaths CANNOT CHANGE because it is impossible to develop true empathy & compassion.
Sociopaths who torture & murder should be executed. Period.

Yet, you are very sympathetic, empathetic, and kind towards the victims and same with the backgrounds of the people who commit these crimes. You understand there are reasons for who they came to be but you draw that line where there's absolutely no excuse for the things they end up doing. Idk, it just a very different way to most other true crime videos and I love it. Cause these people really piss me off too but I can understand how some things happen.

As far as I know they didn’t know where he was living, I live in the north east and chilton is quite far from his parents so not like they would bump into him easily. Its easy with hindsight to say people should have done more but despite his vulnerabilities he was an adult and didn’t take up their offer of returning home.
There was a dna test done to see if the child was his as there was some question around it and they were awaiting results of this as they did want to be involved in the child’s life after his death but I don’t know what came of that.
I don’t know the family btw this is just things I have seen in local news.

It scares me that there are people like that in this world, It also scares me that there are so many violent crimes that have happened you will never run out of content. I and my sister were treated really violently from a young age growing up but the perpetrator never harmed her own children just me my sister and her partners. Andrew Gardner's case was for me on parr to Junko Furuta case and both cases are ones I could never listen to again. RIP Andrew, I hope you are the brightest star in the sky and have eternal peace in heaven.

This is eerily similar to another case I watched on TH-cam, the lad was about a week away from death as he was so malnourished his organs were starting to shut down, so sad, fortunately he survived and has custody of their 2 beautiful boys, she is never allowed to go anywhere near them if she ever gets out of prison which seems unlikely at this point luckily, she also controlled her kids lives and eating habits too, absolutely evil

Hi Emma! Newer sub here and can I just say how did I NOT discover your awesome channel until recently?! It puzzles me! You have just moved into my #1 Favorite True Crime TH-cam channel!! I’ve been binge watching your videos ofc and I now have a wonderful extra reason to enjoy my Sundays and Wednesdays! 😊 So far I have been immensely impressed by every one of your videos…your on-screen presence is addicting as well…the way you talk about and present these cases just shows the incredible amount of time and care in which you take in your research for each case (wayyyyy beyond impressive!), your utmost respect (ALWAYS!) for the victims and their loved ones, and also your strong ability to remain as unbiased as possible just shows what a true professional you are! A professional who also has real empathy, respect, and kindness for everyone as well, which makes you so personable and easy to relate with in your videos! Plus you’re just gorgeous! ☺️
I thoroughly enjoyed this latest video as I’d never heard of this case before, maybe because I’m in the US?? I love to hear about other cases from all over the world and obviously not just from the US all the time. I haven’t seen it yet in your past videos, but have you covered the story of Sylvia Likens? The reasons I ask is because this case really reminded me of Sylvia’s case and it also brings me to ask if you might cover it someday in the near future perhaps if you haven’t already??
Thanks for putting out such great and unique true crime content and I so appreciate your strong dedication and all of the work you put into your channel! Looking forward to Sunday!! x

While I subscribed a while ago, this is the first video I’ve watched. You have now become one of my faves Emma. While I’m obsessed with true crime it’s the psychological aspect that fascinates me the most. You are a rare gem as not many combine the 2 in layman’s terms.I come from a very dysfunctional family and have spent much of my life in and out of adult psychiatric hospitals since the tender age of 14.While it’s traumatising many nurses comment that I have witnessed and experienced so much I could do their job 😂 So many of the patients end up committing crimes and many have told me they prefer the institutional life that hospital and jail brings as they can’t function living independently. While I despise being inpatient I understand they feel safe, they have a routine and they are not alone.I have been so shocked by the amount of patients that have also told me they only get the professional help they need if they commit a crime as it’s then financed by the government as part of their mandatory rehabilitation.I’m in Australia 🇦🇺 by the way and I can’t afford the trauma counselling I desperately need as I’m now on a disability pension.I can definitely relate to being denied help due to my financial situation. It’s really weird how the system works sometimes.A large part of the prison population are mentally ill.Why do we only help people afterwards when it’s too late?.Great channel 👍

Idk. I think those kids are pretty much evil. Seriously. There was a case where some parents were abusing and starving their 4 yr old and she mentions how the 6 yr old tried to sneak him for and clean him up and even listened for a heartbeat when he was dead. Bc that little girl knew the abuse was wrong. Children have a conscience, even when very young. Maybe not like 2 but these kids weren't two. If they didn't know what they were doing was wrong, then they're scary bc they have no conscience and need to be locked up. If they knew it was wrong and they didn't care bc their mom said for them to do it, they are evil and criminals and need to be removed from society. Either way I wouldn't want my children, my family or anyone else living or interacting with these children.

I can relate to a lot of this. I have mild learning difficulties and I have found over the years that particularly women women at home or in the workplace, they can control you in so many ways. It is so nasty, happens so much behind closed doors. I wasn't allowed to express any differences at all, or have my own personality unless it suited the women abusers. I have a huge fear of women and distrust. However, I have learned a lot about narcissism and the laws available that that is really help spot the red flags, and stand up to a lot of these abuse where I can. You are right, it can be very hard to find somewhere else to go. I used to work in coercise control situations and I stuck at the job for 7 years, occasionally ringing up the police for information. I felt I couldn't leave for a variety of reasons, so I tried to keep out of the female abuser's way. As I have said, I do have a fear of women and I am a woman. I can relate to the control aspect of this video. I was lucky to only have a minimum physical abuse but most of it was narcissistic belittling, micromanaging, threats of all kinds. I am glad that the laws have changed to some extent, but it is hard to even talk about it as most of my abusers are mothers and who would believe me? I would like to hear about other female crimes, so I can watch out for further red flags. I am much happier now and in a much safer place away from female abusers but coercive control by women to women as well must be talked about.

"Mens rea" is the legal term for the mental element of a criminal offence - not just ones involving murder or serious bodily harm. There is also the "actus reus" which is the legal term for the actions or inactions required for the commission of an offence.
Eg: the actus reus and mens rea of gross negligence manslaughter is the different to murder)

You have a real knack for presenting disturbing cases like this in an engaging and enlightening way. Hopefully we get to hear your thoughts on Matthew Falder soon
