    I have been a vintage clothing seller for 15 years. I haven't been able to list much for over two years now. It is unbelievable how my sales have dropped! I went from selling an item a day down to only 6 a month! Even though I have over 600 items in my store, it goes to show you how important listing on a consistent basis is to selling items. Great tips! I just needed a little encouragement to get back to work to increase my sales! For people new to selling vintage clothing, these tips are really great ones to keep you from making the mistakes most of us have when we started out!

    Hiya Brittany, I’d add one exception to the damaged rule: if it’s an extraordinary design, patterned fabric, or design it can sell. I’ve sold to museums, film/tv costumers, restorers, collectors who have an “archive” of unusual pieces. Really depends on the piece. Very good info! Jet 🧡🎸🎶⚡️😻🦇🐈‍⬛

    Vintage Seller Here I sell Both Etsy and Poshmark. I have only been selling Poshmark for about a year that is where I do the clothing every and anything not vintage. I sell anything Vintage Antique on Etsy have been selling Etsy 6 or 4 years. I have an entire floor of my house dedicated for product. Some comes for downsizing, but loads come from auctions, some comes from Estate sales and some from local sales. Growing up on a farm we went to auctions, so I started early learning brands tags etc as a young girl. I also do tons of research. Where I do struggle is at times is the SEO though I am getting better.

    I sell vintage hard goods on Etsy and love the advice that sometimes you pick up and list something not because it’s valuable but because you just love it and want it to find a new home. If you write a good description about how it needs a home where it will be loved, people love that. However, sentimental value doesn’t always equal monetary value and is buyers do have to understand that, too. I really love this video and will be following you! ❤️

    • @ShopFoxburrow
      @ShopFoxburrow  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much! Yes I continually pick up items that just speak to me, even if I know I'm not going to be making any kind of "big bucks" on them. It's more about saving something cool and I'm glad someone else can relate!

    Love all of these tips! I have a follow up question...Do you recommend separate Etsy stores' if you do vintage and handmade items?

    • @ShopFoxburrow
      @ShopFoxburrow  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the beginning many many years ago I had my vintage and handmade combined and I found that not a single soul ever bought both categories together. It was either vintage or handmade. So I split mine up and I think it’s better that way for SEO. I’d say unless your handmade items are fashion specifically or fit in with your brand (like hair accessories etc)

  • @DawaSupplyCo

    i definitely agree with leaving items behind. i have a few specialties, but mostly sell across the board. i feel that people that only specialize or have a niche do a lot better.

    Hi, These are great. My fav's are the inventory system as I'm just starting out and have 2 spare rooms full. And need more bins/boxes and your tip on "styled shots", never even thought of that... I also happen to be a photographer on the side and have all the equipment but only do it for myself now so this will be a no-brainer... Being in Canada though, the shipping is scaring me to death...That's one i'm going to have to figure out on my own.

    It's so funny you mentioned the shipping tip and used the basket as an example. I had an item exactly like this that I was discussing with my husband this morning ... and how no one would probably be buying it because of the shipping costs. I had it listed on etsy (which for some reason was going to be the most expensive shipping ), eBay and poshmark. I told him I hope it sells on poshmark because that's the only way it will ever be affordable for anyone ... which was sad because it was lovely and weighed next to nothing but was just big. It sold on etsy today after lunch. I was floored.

    • @ShopFoxburrow

      I sold a giant wicker basket on Etsy too! Shipping was insane but someone paid it 🤷🏻‍♀️ but I probably won’t pick up many more

      @@ShopFoxburrow same here. Mine was something I bought for myself to use at the farmer's market which I used to stop at weekly ... sadly I don't go anymore so I decided to sell it... but yeah crazy high shipping costs sometimes now because of the cubic rates. It really has to be something special for me to pick up bulky items anymore. Love your new etsy videos & looking forward to more!

    Hello I am a new Etsy seller so I am soaking up all of the knowledge. Do you have any videos on cleaning tips? Also, for dry clean only items, any resources on how to avoid taking them to the cleaners when the only issue is smell? Thank you so much for this video and to everyone who contributed.

      Cheap vodka in a spray bottle is my go-to for removing scents from clothing. Spray it down real good, then let it air dry. You may have to do it multiple times. Vinegar can also help. I have one cleaning video on how I clean white items, also one on how I clean and fix shoes... I think under my Vintage Seller playlist :)

    I've been selling vintage on Etsy for about 3 years. My biggest tip is to ONLY put what you KNOW in your listings. There is so much misinformation in listings when I'm researching. I believe people copy the information in other listings without verifying it. Do your research.
