Watersmeet : Chub fishing on the Hampshire Avon

  • Two anglers have fished the same waters for decades without meeting; until the Hampshire Avon brings them together to chase Chub as the temperature begins to drop. Kevin Parr and Adam Chetwood take refuge in the pub to talk strategy in the hope it will do the trick. Fishing draws us together in shared moments and bridges the years with nothing simpler than the thrill of the catch. But will they before the snow falls?

We never try to fill every space, let it breath a little and never preach to the viewer, we're just humble anglers.

Lovely film gents, put me in mind of evocative Yates/James stuff from days long gone! Chub are a great winter quarry. They fight much harder in winter around my neck of the woods (in rain fed rivers), and the prospect of a grayling just caps it off!
Just subbed, will look at more of your stuff. I tried a session on Avon in Salisbury last winter while visiting relatives down south, I got an entertaining utube video from it, but maybe should have fished on "big" Avon further down. Maybe next winter! very envious of the quality of your poetic narration, I'd love to be able to do that!

Float fishing in the rivers the most spectacular and addictive method!

Love these films, and this one particularly as it captures perfectly for me the essence of my winter chub trotting. Would love you to make a film next summer trotting bread for mullet in Christchurch harbour.

@@paulhowe197 Good call, funnily enough there's a healthy population of mullet here in East London on the Lea estuary, we'll put mullet on the list.

Great stuff 😀 lots of thin lips in the Essex estuaries but I reckon there must be the odd big thick. If you want a bit of help with a gorgeous early morning trotting Christchurch then let me know 😀
I spent all day watching your films and they are absolutely absorbing. Great stuff.

He lost that first chub by keeping the rod too high, but almost there. However the piece of music for me was better than the footage. Crisp and eerrie tones, it was hair raising listening to it.

Nice. I wish the narrator would cheer up a tone or two. It's not a funeral.
