Nice video, decades since I fished that last swim, I was Barbel mad back then and tended to go up stream rather than down, I did get the odd roach when trotting for Barbel, even taking quite large luncheon meat baits.
Fished the same swim around 2018 and caught a lot of smallish Dace but suffered many Pike attacks - at one point almost every cast. Later in the day I fished for Pike and caught three, the best a low double. Great sport.
It was near the car park. I had a light feeder on and initially upon striking a bite, I would feel the face wriggle for a few seconds before a pike took it. This then became a situation where I didn't even get to feel the dace at all. I would get a bite and strike straight into a pike! Crazy really, most bit through the line but I did have one of around a pound, taken by a larger unseen pike which swam slowly upstream before parting my line. All good fun!
@@MarkWintleFishing Not much happening. Just Dace, a few small Roach and two Chublets over three days. One mate got a small Brown Trout and another mate caught a reasonable Perch. However, my 15' Hardy Marksman Specialist float rod performed just brilliantly at trotting and holding back etc over the bankside vegetation.
There was a Barbel Society fish-in all weekend and they had some good chub, a couple of barbel, bream to 9lb and an 8lb bass. If I can clear my committments I must fish the Avon soon.
Fished there last year had about 50 roach perch to 2 1/2lb i had a something attack a roach i was bring in thought it was another pike but this pike had strips i estimated it was around the 5 pound mark
@@MarkWintleFishing ive seen big perch in almost every swim i have fished this year, anyway keep up the good work mark i expect i will bump into you one day maybe down breach pond
I tried to get down there last season; it was difficult and the tide was out so I came back upstream. 20 years ago I had some very good sessions trotting a glide above where the river splits with casters for plenty of dace and roach plus chub to over 5lbs.

Lovely video Mark, Roach looked beautiful and what a nice river Bream.
Fishing at its best. What could be more pleasant than a nice mixed bag on the Avon. Soon be out now autumn is here.
really enjoyed this...breath of fresh air....
Nice fishing 😎

Was that by the car prk or near the bypass? Had a load of pike trouble a few years ago by the car park.

Those Roach looked in pristine condition as did the Bream very likely these are not fished for by many anglers as they may be in pursuit of Barbel

I've seen some very big perch on the Royalty and had my best Avon perch from the fishery though a few years ago.

I've not been fishing for five years, this has inspired me to dust off my normark titan 2000 and head to the royalty!
Great stuff Mark, Have you ever fished the section below the by pass ? Johnson’s, Millhams Barlins ?
