Ontario Street St.Catharines A Nostalgic Snowy Winter Walk In My Hometown

- Welcome everyone. Today we take a morning walk down Ontario Street in St.Catharines, Ontario Canada “my hometown” during a snowfall. We start our walk at the former General Motors Plant and walk north to the Ontario Street bridge where it meets the Q.E.W. ( Queen Elizabeth Way) highway. I will talk about places along the way and how it changed over the years and share some of my memories of growing up in the area. Thanks to brother for sharing photos.

WoW, this was a really neat walk, Christine!! I wasn't there Live (sorry, I missed it) but I caught the replay of video and chat. Thank You for showing us local places and interjecting old pics of those same areas, that made it all the more Interesting and Very Cool!! I loved hearing about those "back in the day" days!! Didn't that one area look so "busy" in the '70's compared to the other times!? And that pic of the high school looked very similar to the high school I went to in NC!! I hope You didn't get too cold, Christine, but Thank You again for a Perfectly Delightful Walk and on a Snowy Day to boot!! I am amazed at how doing this comes across so Easy and Natural for You and I think about all the problems I would have, multitasking not being my forte!! Thank You, Christine, sooo very much!!👏👏👏👏👏🙂
Hi Barbara!😊. No worries that you weren’t at the premiere. Not everyone can be there or knows when it’s happening all the time. I’m just happy you enjoy my walks. Honestly I started to feel the cold about half way down but I was ok…the one funny thing that happened is my eye lashes were frozen with ice and I didn’t know till I got back to my truck! That’s neat that the old school building looked like your school. Thank you for your lovely comment. I think I just keep trying to improve as I go along but I still want to do better. This video remember me when i studied at Brock and lived in The Garden City St Catharine twenty years ago. So many memories in the university and the beauty city. Next time i will go there. I am Indonesian, live in East Java Indonesia.

Loved your winter stroll though your hometown, Christine. Time changes so many things. Loved hearing about the changes in St Catherine's. We still have fruit and veggie stands where we live, We love buying from them too! It was nice to hear about the farms and orchards that aren't there anymore. Food (even Big Macs) tasted so much better at 3 am! Loved seeing the street you grew up on! Thanks so much for bringing us along!

Its wonderful to see my home town again i havent livwd there for 32 years i went back in 2017 for a visit and some.of the gm plant was being torn down and i stayed at the Capri inn on ontario street thank you for the content its nice to see it again.

Oh no, they turned the ice cream shop and the house into more car dealerships, seems like so many in this area. It was nice to hear your memories about arcade games, Big Macs at night and Sunday pizza and see the old pictures, you must have used quite some time editing! :)
Hi Maria. Yes I know…it’s sad the ice cream place is gone…not really sure why. We have a few in the city and they have always done well. Yes lots of car lots on this street. Wow some great photos I remember it all very well.My dad worked in GM east side in the 40s 50s 60s and70s . I was born in 59 so I do remember it quite well. Thank you very much nostalgic walk.
