I recently bought a blue Samurai Seiko at Macy's for about $450. They go for $400 on Amazon but honestly I didn't mind paying the extra $50. It's such an incredible watch and very accurate too! I only lose about 5 seconds over night if I forget to wind it. It's also very comfortable given its size. Great for formal occasions or everyday wear!

Big Seiko guy myself- I know the faults, can’t help it lol. You probably already know, but the recent “king turtle” has sapphire crystal and ceramic bezel, and just a bit more expensive, nothing crazy... and a cyclops, which doesn’t bother me either. Also, Marc from Long Island Watch just came out with a mini-turtle-esque Islander, with the usual great specs- which I jumped on. Love it 😎

Great video! Really enjoyed hearing about how your relationship with Seiko began.
It’s incredible that a company can be so individual and unique but still maintain presence in the market and they produce everything in house too!

I love Seiko. truest manufacturer of all the manufacturer. they make everything inhouse. even grow their own quartz crystal, develop their own oil for movements, arguably the best lume in the business. their quality, fit, finish gets crazy after you get around 2k. I'm a huge fan of their Marine master "tuna" series. own a couple, not leaving my collection. I do agree that I do not like their move to upmaket. used to be that you can pick up a JDM Seiko for around $500 and it would just about crush Swiss brands around 2k. value for money has gone down considerably since their move. I have not bought any new Seiko since the whole put prospex logo on everything or presage. only really good thing that has come out in recent times, imho, is the new arnie. anyway, thanks for the vid. I think quality knives and watches go hand in hand.

Yo Bryan, I have the same size wrist and I love NATOs after a bit of trimming. Cut the keeper off, turning it into a single pass strap, seal up the cut edge with a lighter, and then wear it with the hardware on the bottom of your wrist. Makes for a much more slim and low profile package, only a single layer below the watch and all the hardware is opposite the watch. I never could stand the hardware on the side of my wrist. Some I even cut the excess off the end so there's nothing to tuck back under the hardware.
Here's two example pics :: i.imgur.com/4krnR00.jpg and same watch different strap with bonus knife content :: i.imgur.com/nkTcFkE.jpg

So back to China where it never came home to me. I guess they still have it. Never again. Bought an Omega and am most pleased. Also my wife got me a TAG Professional in 2004. Great and accurate watch but way over priced.

You make it sound like its just a Seiko quirk when the bezel does not align properly whereas in actual fact its poor QC by Seiko. yes, they are cheaper than Swiss watches but Orient is owned by Seiko and are cheaper than Seiko but you won't find any misaligned chapters with them. so i think Seiko really need to try harder. I'm not a Seiko basher, i own over a dozen Seiko's.

Your Alpinist; painful to see a brown band on a black faced watch. Switch it to a nice black lizard and it will really look like a dress watch.
I started an affair with Seikos in 1980. I still have all my first ones, including The Running Man digital, and the UFO chronograph. I've added several more over the years with the recent ones being the "parts" watches coming out of India. Sometimes they work, sometimes not but if the case and dial are in decent shape your local watch maker will have the parts to fix any problems in short order. I know I get a deal on my repairs due to the volume of business! I'll add a Grand Seiko one of these days because the unique movement is exceptional I just have to unload my Ebels, Movados, Beau Mercier and duplicate TAGs.
