Commissioner here. It was a pleasure working with you on this one. For anyone curious this is the second version of my protagonist’s theme. Brandon Yates did one for me two years ago but my vision has changed a lot in that time so it was time a retool. I couldn’t be happier with the result! Glad to see you all are liking it too!
Getting home from work while feeling like dying only to listen to an epic war song definitely makes me forget a bit about my current suffering. Also, is it me or is that Monster Hunter World's Ancient Forest in the background ? If yes that's funky. Don't know the book series nor do I think I'll read it (apologies for that) but one thing's for sure: that's one good track. It definitely feels like a war song that slowly transitions into a more epic modern track with electric guitar and brass instruments instead of percussions being the main instruments and even a really interesting acoustic guitar segment, all of those segments giving the track a lot of personality. A personality that makes me think that the concerned character is, and that's pure speculation there so forgive me if anything/everything I say is false, probably someone of relatively "primitive" roots that has either conflicts with a more modern setting or that simply lives in a more modern setting. That along with someone that first appears as a very agressive and possibly brutal character but that's actually much more focused and composed than one might think at first glance (possibly even having a tragic backstory due to some of the more sad-sounding bits of the track ?). The acoustic guitar part is quite interesting and weird in a good way because it could mean a lot of things so I can't really decide on which to choose, but either way it adds a lot of personality to the track which fits with the rest of it. Overall this song is a really enjoyable intense and epic track that definitely sounds like a character theme due to the amount of personality put into it and even if I can't guess what every segment signifies (and who knows, maybe I'm totally wrong in what I guess the bits signify themselves), it's undeniable that a lot of care was put into truly make this theme feel like it belonged to the character it's meant to represent in a way that I'm sure the person that requested it for their book series will be plenty satisfied with it. Definitely an amazing work done with this.
Commissioner here! I really like your analysis. You landed a few things correctly such as the story taking place in a modern/primitive hybrid setting. I’d say the main character’s personality comes through more in the electric guitar and epic orchestral segments so that should give you some hints. Also seeing as dino is in your user name and your profile pic is from Ark you may wanna read the book after all. It’s got plenty of dinosaurs 🦖 😉
