Back again with some more additional info: -The CMDS systems official designation is ALE-47 CMDS, it is installed in some form in pretty much all US military aircraft that have CMDS equipped. -The O1, O2, CH, FL payload switches do not actually turn off the count for each type of munition when the corresponding switch is off; they only prevent the selected payload from dispensing when in the off position. Your counts will always be displayed so long as system power is on and you are not in bypass (more on that in moment) -AUTO mode will dispense countermeasures upon receipt of a dispense signal from RWR, JMR or MWS regardless of user input, the only way to prevent countermeasure dispensing is to turn off the corresponding payload switch. SEMI mode works exactly as described by Cap. -BYP (Bypass) mode, is an emergency function used only when there is a failure of the systems main processor. Placing the system in BYP will bypass (Hence the name) the processor, and send dispense signals directly to the countermeasures dispensers. While in bypass, no counts will be displayed on the main panel, as the processor is the unit responsible for keeping track of how many sticks of chaff/flare are in each dispenser.
so is it currently possible to dispense only chaff or only flares? ... thats what I'm understanding from your instructions here... but I haven't had a chance to test it out. Switch off the flares and only chaff will be dispensed and visas versa? thank for you addition to Caps tutorial. immensely helpful.
@@scarecrow1323 Probably yes... I'll give it a test in Falcon BMS as well, as soon as I can. The way I would set up the CMDS to deploy individual countermeasures is just simply modifying the programs, like I already do in the A-10C. The A-10C has the Programs H, I, and J that are the more suitable deployments for this. Program H deploys a single chaff and program J deploys a single flare, then I only tweak program I (which by default deploys two chaffs with a small interval) to deploy both chaff and flare at the same time, one each.
I was almost about to comment on the "panic button", but glad you showed it at the end of the video. In Falcon BMS, this button is refered to as "Slap Switch". I guess it has that nickname because the pilot uses it by very rapidly taking his left hand out of the throttle and giving a quick jab with the side of his fist, and then back to holding the throttle.
From my experience it’s wierd in that cockpit with nothing visible on the canopy. It just feels weird to me like the canopy is missing almost. Makes visibility fantastic though! Great vid cap!! Great channel man. 🤘😎

I don't like to waste flares when radar guided SAM is on me (edit): I know I could switch those off for a time being, but when it gets hot, it could be hard to look for a mouse/keyboard/VR controller unless... There is an option to map these two switches to HOTAS CMS switch, that would be great.
Hey Cap. You can actually edit program 1 to a custome setting as well as the slap buttion (program 5) chaff flare dispurse buttion . Its in the eagle dynamics/dcs open beta/mods/aircraft/cockpit/scripts/ews/cmds and edit the lua file in that folder. At least i beleive thats the correct path. I have two detailed vids on how to do this workaround on my chan.

Make sure your 'threat warning aux' 'power' is on. Just click it once and you'll see it is on. It is to the left of the countermeasures control panel, the one with the different programmes and manual, semi, auto on etc

Apparently there are issues with the RWR sounds in the F-16. Some say that they work if you have the F-18 module installed though this is not confirmed.
@@firemedicjm911 it requires the Hornet files to be installed. Someone did some data mining, IIRC, and to play RWR sounds the Viper module literally references the Hornet files. What a load of crap - the Hornet RWR is nowhere near the same as the Viper's.
You can manually update the programs from text editor if you have preference This guys video shows you how. th-cam.com/video/nYHsPYR_jus/w-d-xo.html But it would make sense to set program 1 to single chaff and the other programs to something you like
