- VLOG # 8 - How to Bind a Fire Hose
Watch the latest upload on my TH-cam Channel as part of the #HowToBeAThirdMateSeries where I show you, with the help of my bsn, how to bind a fire hose. I was inspired to do this video because during my last order of fire fighting equipment, I requested a fire hose with nakijima couple attached. However during delivery, the hose and the coupling were separated and I had to bind it manually.
I watched my other third mates do it before, and they taught me well. Now that I have my vlog on TH-cam, I made this video so other #ThirdOfficers or #Soontobe Thirds can refer to. I am not saying I am perfect at my job but I was want to share to the most of my capacity so others can learn too.

For God i've found your tutorial. Last contract chief asked me tô replace some hoses. I asked bosun to teach me how to bind them, but he never got any time to assist me. See you at City of Dreams hahaha

Can you do one video related to pre arrival and departure procedures , please include all the checks and Tests carried out during the procedure, like steering gear test, testing of telegraph, main engine tried out ,etcc

Thank you for this! Usually my previous company we just get the hose already binded so I never learned how to until I’m in a new company. Thank you! But just want to ask, you don’t use any glue? And how do u put the wire in the binding tool? Is it in the manufacturer’s manual? Much love, 3rd mate from Singapore! ❤️
usually no glue is needed when binded correctly, and just bind it as tight as you can
What is the name of the device that bsn used to tighten the wire. Can I found it in the IMPA book? Thanks.

If you cover the wire with tape, water will accumulate under it and will prevent proper drying. If the wire is not made of stainless steel, it will rust.
yeah it shouldnt be covered with tape. recomended to paint signal red with pencil brush.
