2cr for a house, which seems to be big enough is still cheaper than a similar house in Delhi or Mumbai. Adding that you are buying in Midtown. If not cheaper, then they are both similar imo. Shows how expensive is buying a house in india, compared to the average salaries of people 💀

Just advice to anyone. In the South of USA the neighborhood look ok but you need to drive & check out the neighborhoods at nights & weekends. You'll see if neighborhood noisy, crime, suspicious people hanging out, etc...crime map data isn't always right because they skew what may be considered violent/non-violent offenses. Also, these days you can TH-cam & fix anything. As long as you get an independent home inspection to make sure things like roof, foundation, electrical, plumbing, structural are fine. Everything else is cosmetic & you can save more getting a liveable cosmetically "ugly" house.

Real estate investments or buying property is pretty straightforward in the USA compared with India. Pretty much no legal or bureaucratic issue while buying through real estate agents in the USA. Property titles are 100% insured. Title (property) owner is clearly specified in the title and it it is insured.
In India the title (of a property) concept is missing, officially government (registration process) guarantees only the sale deed between parties and collects the tax based on value of sale deed. The Indian governments (state and central) never guarantees that the person who paid the price owns that property. Some person can go court and claim the property with some old documents (real or fake).
Because the shady law in India made too many legal issues in real estate and no government is made any steps to resolve those issues.

Last 2-3 years have been unreal (40-50% upto 80 in some areas) otherwise the property market was pretty flat for 10 years and you lucky to get an appreciation of 2-3% on your property. Lets get your facts aligned pls!!

    Dear Sir,
Although you are a software engineer by profession, it looks like you have tried to emulate economist Amrita Sen.
Since 200 years, Americans are buying houses with the same reason that they can save more money rather than renting and also make money while selling. House real estate is a trillion dollar business in the US.
Since time memorial every immigrant thinks that buying the house is better with the same logic that you have mentioned in your Vlog. There is nothing wrong in it but why are you trying to churn out the same trick which is already in the DNA of the immigrants.
We have been staying in the US for more than 3 decades and continue to stay in the rented apartment but unfortunately saving more money than the highly intelligent people who invest in real estate.
    WHAT IS NEXT?
SHAADI, KIDS - is it not?
Minimum two kids (that means two more COOLIES added to the workforce). Is it not better to buy the house closer to good schools so that COOLIES will be in good shape to provide better service to big people like MICROSOFT etc. Hope you have well thought about moving in this direction.

So i dont think taking loan for buying a house for which u will have to pay more interest than the loan itself is a good idea. 2cr for a house in US is way lot cheap than in india... given per capita income way too low compared to united states and here houses are actually 2 crores for a mere income of 30 k...

In Canada 🇨🇦 This kind of house starts minimum from 500k. Also depends on the location. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Living abroad, is all about money. Happier, living in a small house in India, our own country.

The potential returns seems huge because you have taken 10:1 leverage i.e. investing 25K while getting a 10X exposure of 250K house... It is same as buying an option (easy to buy anywhere say robinhood) where you can even get a 100:1 leverage and can make even more potential returns... Nothing special about housing on returns.

I beg to differ. Stock Options are not assets. If you get leverage on house you can get rental income, Options do not produce any income. Volatility on house prices is much lesser than Stock Options. And lastly Options expire so you can not hold them till it becomes profitable, But you can hold a house for long time and more than most of the times, you will be positive. Stock options are kind of "Get Rich Quick" method and houses in USA are always good for long term investment.
