A friend of mine did a bar top for a customer and he removed all the bark but then he cut back in the appearance of bark with a chain saw i,m trying to find someone that does similar techniques but on a smaller scale, I,m doing some counter tops for my school bus conversion and i want to carve a bark appearance with saw blade width grooves and a wire wheel but i would like to see some different techniques doe you know of anyone doing this?
I think you mean a live edge appearance? I have seen this done with a 4" grinder with a flap wheel sanding disc. I have never done this myself since I have plenty of live edge pieces of wood. If you draw a semi straight line along a board and then using a jig saw with the blade tilted to 45 degrees cut along that line. Then use a grinder with a flap disc to smooth it out. That may be the look you are going for.
