    If only Wallenstein made a versioj of this firewood processor with a log lift instead of the cable winch. The soil in my area is deep sand and dragging the logs on it would tear it to shreads in short order. I really do lile the outfeed table on this machine, perfect height for the way you load up and move firewood around.

    Good job and great job. Something though I would suggest is get a duckbill hook like I got on mine and have your blue tractor there with grapple and set the but of log right on table then just have to winch the top to feed it. I do that all the time. And eventually a bigger cc chainsaw would help u out to. Cheers.

    • @OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm
      @OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the tips! Yes we are gonna start using a log tong, it’s been a blast so far. The saw cuts very well even with most of this being hickory, when we run a poplar or other softer woods the saw is great! The 361 rips, great chain speed with it.

    • @rodt2781
      @rodt2781 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm your right the saw cuts good, but your dad was doing more productive cutting. Getting them dam near cut before ram was back. But eventually you'll see the duckbill hook will help alot.

  • @jeffmayeux1692
    @jeffmayeux1692 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Dave, I love the concept. You use your own saw plus rely on the pulley to move the logs up the ramp. Much easier on the back when working at waist height. Really good teamwork with your dad.

    Good video!! Just a little tip that might help and speed you up, I always advance my log before engaging the splitter, that gives all power to splitter. There great little processors

  • @jeffy1466
    @jeffy1466 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I enjoyed seeing the processor run. I've been thinking for a while about which piece of equipment to get to help me split wood faster. I ruled out any sort of processor because I do get a lot of big wood to deal with. I have no problem dealing with big rounds. I get a ton of good sized logs as well. I also ruled out any sort of eastonmade or wolf ridge splitters because of the wait times. I contacted All Wood and after talking with the owner I purchased one of their Musclewood splitters. I'm excited to get it as the wait time was 2 months or less.

    • @OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm
      @OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Jeff! Yes we went with this one due to it ability to take up to a 22” log, we are in the same boat. Lots of large wood to handle and majority of the processors that can handle logs that size are 30-40k or more. So far we really like this one and have gotten alot of use out of it with no issues! Best of luck with your new splitter, I’m sure it will be a great machine!

      @OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes I think that wouldn’t be an issue, hard to say just piling it up but if we had a bigger trailer or two trailers I think it could do a bit more :) ahhh it sure makes it fun! Thanks for watching

  • @randymaylowski2485
    @randymaylowski2485 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That's awesome! To do two things at once instead cutting then turn around and start splitting it ..lol. But things I noticed it didn't came with a chainsaw automatically? And also noticed you guys had to rehandle some of the bigger pieces, couldn't you get a bigger wedge? So you have it for bigger pieces? Other than that good work guys👍.

    • @OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm
      @OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Randy, yes this machine is great! Your right it didn’t come with a saw but that is what helped it out on price. We figured since we already had a couple larger saws that could work great with this we would save the money rather than paying for a hydraulic style saw on another processor. And yes you can get a 4 way or 6 way wedge. We have outdoor boilers and like the larger chunks, we resolute some when we sell the wood. Thanks for watching!

    • @randymaylowski2485
      @randymaylowski2485 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm will that makes sense, I know sometimes it's stupid they want things cost more than what it's worth. But what do you expect they try to get more money than necessarily! But I was just curious, sure looks nice though. We would like something like that but what sucks is we ain't big enough as in I mean we only produce enough firewood for like year in a 1/2 tops. And that's 10 to 11 of pulp wood and little extra from around the house. We only have a wood stove ferniess type with the fans content to it. Inerways thanks for replying back. And have a good weekend.

  • @jessekurtz4457
    @jessekurtz4457 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just purchased that exact model now I'm waiting for it to come in. My question to you is if you have a 13" diameter by 15' log album log how long does it take you to process it from start to finish

    • @OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm
      @OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jesse, thanks for watching and I apologize for the late response! This processor is awesome, pairing it with the Stihl 661 has made an improvement on speed by a good 5 seconds or so per cut. I’d say if you have the logs delimbed good and close to the log it would only take a few minutes, doing good prep work up front really saves in the long run. Also leaving logs longer than 10’ seems to help as well, setting up the winch to the log is the most time consuming. If your selling wood I’d probably say the 6 way wedge would help make more uniform pieces instead of adjusting the 4 way up and down to match log size. Hope that helps!

    What is the point of having a processor and using a chainsaw? Otherwise great video content.

    • @OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm
      @OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha, for real? The only difference is hydraulic powered vs gas powered. Oh and a lot of price difference. The main benefits are allowing the machine to get your log to a good working height and then after the cut it rolls down to be split. After you hook the log you don’t have to handle it again untill it’s stacking location if that’s the case.

    • @stevesedgwick5789
      @stevesedgwick5789 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm thanks for the reply, I wouldn’t have thought a manual handle, hydraulic driven bar would cost more than say $800. Cheaper than that great chainsaw you have. Pleased you’re happy with it, enjoy.

    • @OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm
      @OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your welcome, your probably right however I believe it would also require a larger volume hydraulic pump and possibly larger engine. I’m not an engineer but the price difference between this unit and a fully hydraulic powered processor is substantial. Also majority of them can only process 16-18” logs. Thanks for watching

    I'm only trolling, here please take no offence . Wallystein For Those That Want The Expense Of A Firewood Processor With The Production Rate Of a Standard Splitter. Truthfully its not too bad and would suit an average Farmer type

    • @OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm
      @OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm
      @OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The price is right where the commercial splitters are and then your upping production by bucking the logs and not having to handle them multiple times.
