We had a 1960 Canadian Pontiac Parisienne station wagon in a metallic bronze colour. No Bonnyville model in Canada, Parisienne was the top model. It was special ordered by a man that owned a dealership in Calgary. He got it for his wife, but she didn’t want it because it didn’t have power windows, so my father got it as a used car with only a few miles on it. He always rented travel trailers for us to take on summer vacations. That car was a beast. It hauled those trailers through mountain passes in the Rockies like nothing, even though it only had a 2-speed automatic. Used to pass other traffic on the upgrades. The dealership owner told him it had a special order 409 engine in it. Too bad he sold it to our neighbours when he was transferred to Ontario. My second favourite of his cars car was a 1969 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser station wagon with a 400 4 barrel. I had my license by then and got to drive it. Used to flip the lid on the air cleaner. Don’t know if it got more air like that, but the intake honk sounded awesome.
Beautiful. I'm doing a 60 Bonny Safari. Back in the day these were the family work horses. Unfortunately they were pretty much considered throw aways. Trans went bad, engine took a hike well we just put them in the junk yard. No one would have guessed how collectible they would be some day. I guess like a lot of other things taken for granted.
To me a good restoration is as classic as the original. 1959-60 Pontiac's are my favourite years. I find the rear electric window on the back this one an interesting feature.
I would love to find a N.O.S. piece for that electric window. I'm talking about the escutcheon that you can put a key and turn the right and the electric window goes down. The electric window was standard on the Bonny wagon optional on the Cat wagon. I've seen the crank type N.O.S. on ebay.
Brings back memories. My first car was a 1959 Bonneville Hearse. I wanted something different. Called it the "Boothill Express". I had it for 6 months. It wasn't well received at the time, police, parents of my dates and speeding tickets. Low mileage car, ran good, great a/c but it only got 8 mpg.
Does this year yet have the General Motors "power" drum" brakes that are so sensitive that they throw you through the windshield if you barely tap them. My dads 64 Buick LeSabre had them.
Love the car for sure but parking lights are not brake lights. I love wagons and this is unusual. I do however wish that I had a buck for every time you said "rock solid" then I could buy it! LOL!

Brake lights look like they're wired backwards
