    Sinister does not have an "illogical" ending. It is shown very clearly in the movie that the demon films the children attacking their family, and those who view the film activate the curse. The demon then haunts the family and takes control of a child, and makes them believe that if they move out everything will be over, while in fact that's exactly what it wants: the family to move out and spread the curse. He always waits until the family has moved out before killing them so that the new house hosts the cursed tapes. The big twist of the movie was that the father realized that he doomed his family by moving out. What was so good about sinister is that it's not a single house that is haunted, but multiple houses getting cursed the more the victims try to run away.

      Yeah, I thought that was pretty obvious, too. It’s a logical ending but they almost ruined the movie by showing Bagul at the end because he looked like what he was-some dude wearing a costume. I love the movie, but I always stop it before that part lol.

    • @bibbobella
      @bibbobella ปีที่แล้ว +42

      Yeah, the fact he was drinking the spiked drink just as he got the call from the police officer was SOOOO freaking good!
      You get the "Oh shit!" moment the exact same time as the main character as he realise he has doomed his family, and the police officer was just moments too late to give him the necessary information he needed to connect the remaining puzzle pieces.
      The fact he did what any sane person would do, and actually try to run away from the obviously dangerous being, only for it to turn out to be the plan all along is honestly so cool! I remember thinking "Why doesn't the ghoul just kill them right now?!" a few times in the movie, but it is explained by the ending.

    • @mxx720
      @mxx720 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      I think the "illogical" part is that a 7 year old girl could tie up and murder an entire family with an axe, unless the curse also gives her superhuman strength.

      Baguul also seduces/brainwashes the children into madness and murderous servitude through multiple subtle interactions.

    How exactly is the ending of Sinister "illogical and unbelievably silly" because the kid kills her family and the walls end up bloody? The entire plot of the film is that the kids murder their families in the most gory and gruesome ways possible. Dunno about you but I'm pretty sure murdering people with an axe isn't going to be the cleanest of activities.

      Personally, I think it ruined the idea of mystery. You get to see the monsters, and the ending is changed. It also outright tells you where the monsters came from. Not saying it's a bad movie by any means, I would say it's pretty good, I just think the book was better.

    • @jimbobjones9330
      @jimbobjones9330 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I thought it was one of the dumbest endings of all time.
      I was good with the "first ending" -- in the car. As a fan of Jack Ketchum, I'm fine with bleak endings (and have written a few myself)
      I thought the "second ending" -- where the military showed up -- was silly, but I could deal with it. It should have been done more than 45 seconds after the first ending -- but... whatever.
      I thought the "third ending" -- with the mother and her kids -- was the stupidest ending of all time and ruined the movie for me -- a person who ADORES the novella, and though it was great until the ending mess.
      A great movie with a stupid "theater school" ending that I would have thought was good when I was 15.

    The Skeleton Key was a good movie! I don't think it got the marketing it deserved, and didn't connect with critics, but that's not because it's bad. This list drove me crazy. The last comment about A Serbian Film was just the cherry on top and made me livid lol like, no, it’s not not taken seriously because it’s “bleak”, it’s not taken seriously because it’s literally just ped0philia and necr0philia thinly veiled as shock value horror.

    your lists about the ending of "the mist" always neglect the extra gut punch of the military arriving and the camera focusing on the woman in the back of the truck with her 2 kids - the same woman who left the store early in the movie, against the advice of everyone else including the protagonist, because she was determined to try and rescue her kids. the whole story is basically about courage in the face of the unknown, and how if he had shown the same courage she did to actually try and survive instead of giving up, his son would still be alive.

    There is absolutely no similarity between anything in Skeleton Key, much less the ending twist, and I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream. Literally nothing in common. Not even close. It's clear that whoever wrote this list only knows Harlan Ellison's work in name and has never read it. Furthermore, you have to be a complete chucklehead to even hint at Sinister 2 being better than the first. The sequel was absolute trash and that is a very commonly held opinion. I'm guessing the presenter doesn't know any better, because anyone with sense would throw this script back and say "Fix this because there is no way I'm putting out a video of me reading this shite".
