My customer used to have one, with exactly the same engine. They didn’t use it often, but needed it sometimes. And every time they needed it - no one could start it but me. 😁 That thing had no compression in it. And flame start didn’t work. So in order to start it - I would rewire batteries to 24 volt temporarily, heat the intake manifold with propane torch, spray bunch of WD40 in to intake manifold, and crank it. If you start that thing in the morning - it’ll be re-starting all day in 12 volt configuration. But next morning you would have to do the same procedure again. Gears used to get stuck in the transmission. Especially 3-rd and 4-th.
Mid 2000s I worked at a Hyster & JCB dealer so we saw a lot of Perkins. I was doing fuel lines on one in a JCB forklift. One of the older mechanics said "Before you try to start it pump that primer until your arm hurts then do it 50 more times".😅 That's about what it took.
Heat, cold, rain, or shine, I don't think there's anything Warren can't start or fix. He's one from the old schools that no longer exist. He learned from doing it because it had to get done.
Between the day job and TH-cam, I don't see how this fella finds time to rest. Let's hope that burning the candle at both ends don't come back to "haunt" you lol. Josie appears to have made a good road companion, she stays on guard.👍🏻
“Utter nonsense bullsh** really cracked me up! That’s some parody with the calves story Warren. Made me laugh and made my day. Keep on wrenching buddy.
I was surprised this rig wasn't covered in pack rat and mouse crap, or the wiring chewed up after 15 year's of sitting. That cow guy was full of it, my grand parents raised dairy cow's when i was a kid in the 70's and i never saw a cow act the way the guy was bs-n you, I've seen the opposite when they get seperated. I learned how to dig graved on an old jcb extend a hoe all clapped out, but that Perkins diesel ran pretty good for all the hour's on it, but i kept up on the maintenance on it because i was afraid they'd bring me something worse, because it did have a lot of cylinder leaks, and an old crusty line would blow every now and then. I worked for an outfit that owned 28 cemeteries around Michigan, but only 3 of them didn't have a union, mine was one. We got all the junk and low pay. We did around 100 or more burials a month, and when i started i was paid hourly, but after 2 month's the gug who was running the place got fired because he loaded the john deere gator up in the dump truck, and took it to the sand dunes, but when he got back, he was so drunk, he left the truck with the gator in the back outside with beer cans in and around the truck, and left the keys in the ignition. He was so hung over, he never made it to work to clean up the mesd and put the equipment away. I became the superintendent, was only able to hire one full time guy, and sometimes two prt timers during the spring and summer, because we did the building maintenance, burials, mowing, trimming, installed all the memorials, plowed and shoveled snow and all the repair on the junk equipment. I was put on salary, and made less money until i told them i was walking. I was a certified mechanic and could fix pretty much anything, so they knew they'd never fund another dumb ass besides me. I just liked the work and the people i met, or i wouldn't have put up with all the bs. One day i got a call for an over sized casket that was coming, and i felt the under taker was fibbing on the weight. I had a feeling our lowering device was not gonna make it, mainly because they are supposed to be sent in for servicing, which they never did. I had buried other over weight person's, but i just had a bad feeling. I called the district supervisor, and told him my concern, but he just said to hold the release lever and let it go down slower than just the gravity that set's it down in the vault. I was so nervous, and when i released the lever, it just went flying, the casket flipped upside down in the vault and being a metal casket it got smashed up. I felt so bad, and the deceased was a woman who was mentally delayed, and lived in a care home. Her brother started yelling, and was about to hit me, until he realised i was a woman. The funeral director, took me aside and said you don't want to see what's inside of the cadket several times, so i called the vault company to bring over their delivery truck with a crane on it, and i put the vault lid on without the seal, and he took it to his facility where they did cremation's, and they hsd to put her in a new casket, sealed the vault and I had them set the vault while the family came back. I got a hold of my area supervisor, and he had to explain everything to the owner's of the cemetery, but i was so glad i covered my behind by informing him that i didn't think the lowering device would hold the woman. They are rated for around 800 ponds, and i helped carry the casket from the hearse to the device, and it felt much heavier than other over sized caskets I'd carried. I guess the funeral director lied about the weight and he was freaking, because they had to use shrink wrap on her, to get her to fit inside the casket and whatever other freak stuff they do. I had some wild experiences working there for ten year's, but i felt so bad about how it affected the family, and that she was a special needs person, and her families last thought of her was so awful. I thought I'd do a story time for you Warren, because you have seen some crazy stuff like i have over the year's. G-d bless.
Thats complete Bullshit that rancher tried to tell that driver. I would think he was looking for a reason to raise hell. I'm a rancher and I have calves separated way longer than that from their mothers. Great video man I have learned a lot from your videos.
Hey Warren, looks that farm could use you for a week or so to try ad get everything serviced. Great job fixing what you could for them. Thanks for the video!
Warren,Thks for the day long visit,I found it interesting as well, catch ya later Warren,I’m going to put this head back on Ford 172D ,I want to move it mostly.
My current project is putting a Perkins 354 turbo water to air charge cooled engine in a 93 k2500 GMC. Engine is out of a Massey combine working on building bell housing to mate up to NV4500. Won’t be no power house but it’ll do good on fuel.
Man , i just love to watch you open theres cans of worms.. you never know what in the hell is going to pop out .. Love the long videos also .. Be Safe .
Not run in 15 years 😦 takes some sorting out to get running 👍👍 And not far to go for the next few jobs ,saves all that travelling Nice to have a collection of jobs in the same place 👍👍
Might try using a big pair of big channel locks across the top of the alternator and bracket to tighten the belts, not trying to tell you what to do but I find it works pretty good.
My mind automatically listens for a bad turbo actuator sound when y shut down a 30 series deere, looks like yours to 😂.I've just noticed at the same time as you. One of my customer had a 6830 at 6200hr had to replace the turbo, at 13000hr they give the tractor to a new employee and forgot to explain about listening for a clicking noise and eventually eat the turbo and I've to do the complete engine and the turbo, the catch is that last week 17534hr on the clock same tractor turbo clicking again I've just replace the turbo yesterday, they had 4 more tractor like these one they do the exact same work and only have to replace one turbo on each one, i guess it's just a lemon.
Last time I replaced a big alternator the damn slip spacer was stuck in the bracket and broke it clean off. I now make sure they move before I put too much pressure on them .
The thing that always makes me laugh about customers wanting you to get old machines like this running again is they forget it was parked up 15 years ago for a reason 😂
The thing with taking the keys out is because kids, some kids got in my tractor when the people i lease to were making hay and turned the key on killed the brand new battery. The guy who's kids it was didn't care either. Said not my problem, you shouldn't leave keys in the ignition. People suck... edit, also had kids deliberately break a key off in the ignition switch on my riding mower.
Appreciate the Videos, Warren. What a cool old Hyster. Did that come with a 354 Perkins or what’s that retrofitted in? Does the hay squeeze heads replace the normal forklift carriage? Pretty nice to have enough work in one spot to make a day of it without running all over the county. I have two Mastiff, Lab, Pitbull mixes. They are sisters. One is named Daisy, after your Daisy. The other is Reece. The are the biggest babies I have ever had. They will protect you, if you go check it out first. Have a good weekend.
Warren great job on the Perkins, I was thinking the metering valve would be stuck. Is it a CAV/DPA pump like the smaller 3-4 cylinder Perkins engines? You don’t have to worry about mosquitoes with that engine running.
I saw one of those hysters on another channel last night the guy said he was gonna yank the gas engine out of it and put an old 12 valve Cummins in it pretty sure he said it had a contenental gas engine now!.
hey warren nice works usual. I remember you mentioning it in another video but can't find it, but what are the specifics on the orange gloves you wear? They seem to last way longer than the ones I find.
How does a demonetize work does that mean they can't run ads on your account because I'm seeing advertisement on your account. Or does it mean because you're demonetized we can run ads and not pay you
Hi Warren and all you true patriots. It's 22:10 here (Scotland) 5th November 2024. I sincerely hope Trump wins and you hold the house and grab the senate. IMO the Ace in this election is Elon Musk. If Trump unleashes Elon with the task of cutting back the swamp then you guys may actually see REAL change. I sure as hell hope so!
If you bought a brand-new piece of farm equipment today, used it for a few years, and then let it sit for 15 years, what's the chance that ANYTHING would work on it? Pretty close to a 0%, I bet.
Like my ex father in-law would say if things were easy the girl scout would be out here doing the job don't be so hard on yourself that filter housing was a two minute fix !.
My customer used to have one, with exactly the same engine. They didn’t use it often, but needed it sometimes. And every time they needed it - no one could start it but me. 😁

@Slugg-O Not only can Warren fix anything, he can fix it RIGHT@
One of the best heavy-duty mechanics getting things done day in day out I would work for free just to learn from you if I was in your neighborhood
Same!
You better be able to learn real quick, because the first time you fuck up one of Warren's jobs will be your last!
AMEN
Absolutely and if he could put up with me. Lol
He's really incredible, not turning down any job GOD WILLING, if Warren can fit you in hid sched..just be patient, he'll get to it eventually
The most enjoyable thing about Your videos Warren is the variety. Thanks again for sharing everything. Best Wishes to You, Your Family and Friends.
I always enjoy watching your videos and learning some tips on repairs. Keep up the great work and look forward to new videos

When you did the Sling Blade “It ain’t got no gas in it”……about spit my coffee out. That was funny! Great post as always!
Variety surely is the spice in your life Warren. Nobody does it better!
We started using ATF in spray bottles as. Penetrating fluid and it works wonders. It saves a fortune over spray cans
Great idea
Especially when mixed with acetone
Mix ATF with brake cleaner, that makes a difference
I don't know why that old iron excites me so much, but it does every time
I’ve been a rancher all my life, and Warren you absolutely right! Someone’s full of it!
Thx for taking us along on another bunch of interesting repairs.
Warren, you’re a poet and don’t know it !!, made my day with your comedic commentary, always entertained by your videos, thanks
Hi Warren. Just thinking…you’ve had that service truck for 5 years already. Crazy. Kindest regards,Bill 🇨🇦🇨🇦
The Hyster we had at work had a 350 chev, great machines.
Ours had a Ford 300-6
“Utter nonsense bullsh** really cracked me up! That’s some parody with the calves story Warren. Made me laugh and made my day. Keep on wrenching buddy.
Interesting day you had Warren , thanks for taking us along .
You figured out the forklift reserection pretty fast, good job...Warren

That forklift sure started easy for sitting that long !
Great video Warren really enjoy watching you work on these service calls at this ranch. Thanks for sharing stay safe Warren.
love all the good content coming from this channel. Hopefully it starts to pay off.
Thank you for your service 👍
Thanks Warren. Glad you are healed up from the fan shroud attack!
Thats complete Bullshit that rancher tried to tell that driver. I would think he was looking for a reason to raise hell. I'm a rancher and I have calves separated way longer than that from their mothers. Great video man I have learned a lot from your videos.
I hope you got paid for the cattle truck. The only Perkins engines I've worked on were air-cooled. Seem to be really dependable and durable.
Hey Warren I hope you get paid for fix on cattle truck it's easy for them to forget you when they leave
Enjoyed the day with you and the variety of jobs you tackled. thanks for sharing .
Warren you are the luckiest mechanic in the area you always get the creampuff jobs. Great video enjoy it the most.
Hey Warren, looks that farm could use you for a week or so to try ad get everything serviced. Great job fixing what you could for them. Thanks for the video!
The Perkins was made in Peterborough, UK. They were a cheap and cheerful simple engine. Cheers Warren from UK.

good vid warren
That was a really interesting video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for a very interesting video Warren
That’s why ranchers ween them off the mom for days in another location….otherwise they’d pen them up on the mountain for 5hrs and be ready to go 😂
Really good video, more examples of skill and resourcefulness.
Man , i just love to watch you open theres cans of worms.. you never know what in the hell is going to pop out .. Love the long videos also .. Be Safe .

Great video ,Thanks.Warren.
There has to come the day people look at a pile of junk like this and say we need to buy another one. How you got that relic working is beyond me sir.
Figure that's why it got parked. Take lots of money to get that old machine back in shape.
Great video Warren!
Fascinating
Might try using a big pair of big channel locks across the top of the alternator and bracket to tighten the belts, not trying to tell you what to do but I find it works pretty good.

Yes, it snowed a little in the valley but pretty good up in the mountains, we need it.
We just got 1/2" first Rain in 7 weeks. Indiana we are dry and field fires
Got er done! 😊
Well done...
Warren, I am a bit surprised after 20 years of idleness, you did not have more leaks than the Titanic from the hydraulics. Good job anyway.
not the forklift repair I wanted but a forklift repair none the less.
The thing that always makes me laugh about customers wanting you to get old machines like this running again is they forget it was parked up 15 years ago for a reason 😂
Boy that steering wheel seen better days 😂

that filter assy like a Rube Goldberg Machine. bwhahahahahahahahahahahah
Man, if i tried pouring oil from a 5 gallon pail without a funnel like that, more would be on the engine than in it.
hey warren nice works usual. I remember you mentioning it in another video but can't find it, but what are the specifics on the orange gloves you wear? They seem to last way longer than the ones I find.
Worked on many Perkins 6 354 in Oliver and White Farm Equipment
Bringing a turd back to life nice!

Does Warren sell any merch yet? Or have any merch available for print? TIA

Attend your church, don't worry about turbo care.
I don't attend churches who worship the synagogue of Satan.
@westerntruckandtractorrepa1353 I was only yoking Warren, TRUMP 24!!! from this long time aus subscriber.

I restored that exact model hyster h225e for a client. Biggest piece of junk I ever seen!
