A coaxial digital cable transmits a digital audio signal between two devices. It's commonly used with home theater receivers, music streaming devices, and disc players.
Coaxial digital cables look virtually identical to single analog RCA cables. But they are specially designed to handle the wide frequency bandwidth of digital signals.
A single cable is used to transmit the entire digital signal. Coaxial digital connection ports are typically orange.

A coaxial digital audio connection is used to send S/PDIF digital audio signals between devices. It supports uncompressed PCM stereo audio as well as DTS and Dolby Digital 2.0/5.1/7.1 surround sound signals.
It does not support DVD-A, SACD, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X or high-definition audio such as DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD. So, if you want to play this type of audio, you will need to use an HDMI connection.

Hi Ashwin chelva i have a mitv 4a and sony hbd dz810 home theater i have tried below steps for better 5.1 audio quality
Mitv has hdmi arc, rca and spdfi out -Home theater has hdmi arc,rsc and optical input
1. Hdmi arc tv to home theater audio is getting connected but only the front two speakers are working
2.Tried with rca tv to rca home theater and the result was same
Can you please help me to connect tv to home theater for 5.1 sound

Ur mitv have optical port means connect optical to optical u get 5.1 sound. But ur tv don't have optical . So no way for 5.1 sound.

No. Some TV manufacturers only support Dolby Digital while others only support two-channel stereo in ARC.

The more you spend the better output you get.
If you're tight on budget, definitely go for an assembled setup. But, if you're thinking of spending more than Rs 20,000 on a 5.1 home theater, then I'd recommend you go for a branded audio system.
