    My favourite for EDC knives that might be used in casual food prep.
    Be careful to ensure the Mineral Oil is of pharmaceutical (food grade) quality. (Available at any drugstore).
    I'm happy that you mentioned mineral oil as a knife lubricant...most people would rather spend much more money on specialized oils, when a regular container of mineral oil will cost less than $5 and could last for decades of use.

    Mineral oil is pretty much the only thing I use these days to protect my non stainless blades. It’s cheap, simple, odorless, food safe, and it just works!

    Oh yeah, that's what I use exclusively. Even my firearms, clean with mineral spirits, lube with mineral oil.
    EVERY "brand" name of EVERY "clean/lube/protect" product at it's base has plain jane/food safe mineral oil/mineral spirits at its core:)
    Then, they just spice it up or down with some other component and stick their name on it and suckers make them money.

      Man I love Hoppes though. The scent package smells great. It cleans well, and provides a very thin film of lubrication.
      Which I haven't had issues with dirt being attracted onto the surface. I am aware that the lubrication properties are not "the best".
      Have you watched ProjectFarm
      He's got a presentation on all of these!
      Cheers.

      YES! I'm guilty as well, as I love Hoppes too, and have some laying around still:) Use it from time to time, just for the smell, mainly cleaning my firearms.

    Mineral oil is traditionally what gun & reel oil is, even the old army manuals would tell you to use it for lubricating your guns......It's also what Lemon Oil furniture oil is but with added color and scent.......I use it for all kinds of things.

    Any interference with plastics, ABS, polymers...? Some oils etch or solve that kind of materials, so not every oil is recommended for plastic mechanisms, as those in sewing machines.

    Im glad you said laxative. Back in the 70's - mid 80's my grandmother used to feed us Mineral oil as a laxative. Also it's good to keep our joints lubricated. Think of the Tin man from the Wizard of Oz.

    • @clintstinkeye5607
      @clintstinkeye5607 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      WD-40 is NOT a lubricant.
      Not even a teeny tiny bit.
      It is a remover.
      PERIOD!
      Sorry, but I've seen countless people damage their property and mine by defiantly denying the laws of the universe that were created by the almighty God himself.
      Seriously, God created the truth, and the truth is that WD-40 is so obviously NOT a lubricant that the United States Navy has a policy banning that crap from all of their floaty stuff, though some still sneak it onboard because they are convinced that they are smarter than the very God that created the all the freakin rules!
      Obvious this is a huge issue with me.
      I gotta meditate on it again.
      Sorry.

    • @blueeyeswhitedragon9839
      @blueeyeswhitedragon9839 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Use mineral oil on any steel, carbon or stainless, including 20CV, S30V, or any other steel. As a lubricant or rust/tarnish preventer, and perfectly safe on kitchen knives.
      Also keeps wood, bone, stag, and other natural materials from drying out and cracking.
