To confirm clock spring issue rather than just hope that is the problem, bring up live data on scan tool and find driver airbag resistance. Compare it to passenger airbag, it will be higher. Start the car and turn lock to lock and see if the resistance changes, that will pretty much confirm clock spring fault.
Normal should be around 2.5 ohm.

So if it is higher it is the Clock Spring

@@baptismking7314 Most likely but you are looking more for a change when turning the steering wheel to confirm it.
If you still not sure you can remove the air bag (following all safety procedures) and plug in a 2.5 ohm resistor in its place.
If the scanner now changes to normal reading, the airbag was at fault.
If not remove the clockspring and perform the same test.
Scanner reading should now return to normal and airbag light go out confirming the clockspring was at fault.
If not you have bigger problems.

@Stambo59 thanks for responding, mine doesn't change when turning the steering but the Ohms is abnormal reading 9. I went to the delearship and bought a new clock spring and the air bag light disappeared instantly.
The car was in accident so I had to change the dashboard(air bag deployed) Steering column air bag and Both seat belts (locked).
I didn't have to change the pensioner.
I also changed the SCRSM crash sensor by the radiator support.

I got that air bag code. Plus a steering angle sensor time out b1481 and c1623. Is that my clock spring that’s bad?

This is a common issue in this year and model, and it's not the clockspring, it's a faulty connection. I worked at a Hyundai dealer long enough to know that when these came in under warranty, we put a special contact liquid on the connectors and sent them on their way.

Which connectors? The one on the back of the clockspring?

Can we know what liquid are you talking about ?

What's the contact liquid & what location?
When it's the steering angle sensor "Clockspring" the internal ZIF cable breaks completely.

Can this become an issue after a Kia has been broken into? I was one of the lucky souls to have their Kia broken into last year where they opened the area below the steering wheel to access my ignition lock cylinder. It was all "fixed," but I'm wondering if this new issue arose because they also hampered with more than just that...

Where do you dispose of airbags?

  • @asid731
    @asid731 ปีที่แล้ว

On my scan data there is 1st resistance and 2nd resistance on drivers airbag. 1st resistance data says fail and 2nd says 2.7 ohm which is normal. I’m confused
