It's very heartening to me to watch such interesting and beautiful videos being made by young people like you from the photography world. What interesting blends of the creators' own work and that of others before. Thanks.
I love this series you started up. Your videos are so valuable, that I always try to find dedicated time to sit with a cup of coffee and just focus on your video and nothing else-so it might be weeks before I get to watching then catching up on what I've missed from you.. A lot of other YT videos, I watch when they publish while multi-tasking. I think the only ones in photography I make special time to absorb is yours and Tatiana Hopper's videos. I wonder if others might do the same. I mention this in case you're wondering if the analytics on the series might look a bit different than your other videos-if at all. Thank you so much for the work you put into your video essays. They're beautiful, calming, insightful, and grounded. More than any of us should expect from a free TH-cam video. 🙏 (edit: I should have joined as a member long time ago, but for this series, it's a must!)
I absolutely love this format ! It feels that you're really pushing the analyse and academic thinking of photography that you try to incorporate in your more "tutorial" videos. Ans I love your minimalist yet very compelling editing ! That's brilliant
I absolutely love videos like this. A decade ago, I found the channel Art of Photography and was completely hooked with Ted’s deep dives Into many photographers. The red bus image is incredible and your breakdown on it is great Faizal, it really opened my eye to study it more. I think my favorite part of that image is the dead space above the bus, acting like a release of that tension you described. Incredible stuff.
I always find myself yearning for more after one of your vids, Faizal. Keep up the beautiful work. It really does speak volumes the effort that goes in.
I hadn’t heard of Alex Webb and I wouldn’t consider myself a fan of street photography. But your presentation of his work has made me reconsider that position. Excellent job. Inspiring.
Such a wonderful video. Alex’s photos are second to none, but you presented him and his work beautifully as well. These may be my favorite sort of videos you make! Thank you, so inspiring.
Man, it's so true that just being there is half the job. If you've got that, and you've got the eye - then photo's start to appear before your very eye's sometimes, at least in my experience. It's also why I like to travel to very foreign countries to take photo's - the difference in culture's to me is just so fascinating and photogenic. Great video matey ❤
As someone who just started, I still don't see the photos appear before me, mostly I take a picture and then try to justify myself why it is good or maybe crop and try to find something there. Don't know how long will it be before I can visualize a picture and actually make my camera work for me ! Does everyone go through this ?
First of all: congratulations on a great job. I've been following you for many months, but Street Study is, in my opinion, one of the most interesting videos you've made. See you at the next one. Greetings
This was the first photo book I bought when getting into Street Photography. It will never not be inspiring to spend time on each page analyzing the exceptional images on them. Alex is truly a master of the craft.
Excellent work! Webb and Gruyaert are two of the best colour photographers and you’ve covered them both! I can definitely see their inspiration in your work.
He's a legend. He was always a huge inspiration to me. I had the pleasure of meeting him at a Magnum festival in NYC many years ago. Total fanboy moment for me.
Webb's transition to color was specifically shooting on Kodachrome - a classic film all around and one I shot extensively in the 80's and early 90's before its demise - specifically Kodachrome 64 and Kodachrome 200.
Really inspiring. I was an avid photographer about 6 years. Covid pretty much shut things down for me. Had no interest, was home all the time. Now I'm a lot more active and have more chances to see new places. Thinking about getting a new camera sometime this year and shooting again.
Awesome video essay sir.. alex is on of my favs of photogrpahers with his passion and hard work..i always remember he said out of his great work there was failure. I live in the Caribbean and I believe he visited my country and included it hot light half made worlds
Brilliant photography and commentary on Alex Webb’s work. I would love to hear your thoughts of Fan Ho - Brilliant Hong Kong photographer who photographed mostly in the streets, but was not afraid of the darkroom.
Hi, Faizal! I've been your fan from Thailand for few years now. Can you make any content about self-portrait photography?. It would be great if I can learn from your process that what it gives to your as a photographer 😃
Thanks for making this video. For this specific technique, does post processing affects the authenticity of the photos i.e. edit in LR or use presets? I'm new to photography and I like Alex's style of capturing photos.
Your unscored image is a 4 for me, lovely but representational like your first 5-star image (the second 5-star image is more to my taste and I totally agree with that rating). As for the leaves, mushrooms and twisty oak, I'd rate them all as 1 stars, I'm afraid. The high-key misty scene I'd rank as a 4, like the sycamore leaves. Which all goes to prove how utterly subjective photography is!
4:32 I normaly love your video, but c'mon really? Counting "Africa" in a listing of countries? This continent has 54 completely different and diverse countries. Talking about it like a country is just western racism
Let me know who you would like to see featured in the next episode!
Steve mcCurry or Arnold Newman
Alan Schaller
Nicos Economopoulas
Fred Herzog, another pioneer in color street photography.
Estevan Oriol

Thank you ❤️
Alex Webb is in my opinion one of the greatest street photographers of all time. He’s the master of layers.
I've been watching tons of Webb content of late, and this is the top of the heap. Fantastic essay, Faizal.

A wonderful contribution. Grandiose analysis from you!
Thank you Faizal!

I love the serene atmosphere of your videos. The background music, your voice, and the subject matter... I absolutely adore this series!

I’ve only made two so far haha but this motives me to make a bunch more soon :)
Love this series so far. The photo at 8:40 is probably my favorite photograph ever. Every time I see it, I’m blown away.

Wonderful video, love the idea of the street study series!

Really really well done! I thoroughly enjoyed watching this excellent and thoughtful take on one of the best.
One of my favourite photo books in my collection! Great video
What a timing… finally got this book today and you dropped this! Great stuff man! Keep it up!
Haha sweet!
Great video Faizal 👏 looking forward for more!
This was the first photo book I bought when getting into Street Photography. It will never not be inspiring to spend time on each page analyzing the exceptional images on them. Alex is truly a master of the craft.
What a first book to get!
Excellent work! Webb and Gruyaert are two of the best colour photographers and you’ve covered them both! I can definitely see their inspiration in your work.
Well done Faizal, very eloquent and educational. I look forward to learning more from you. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Great job, love this format

That is so cool
Great video man! Love webb video and your analysis of it ✌🏻
I love your videos and this one on Alex Webb is great.
"99.9% of street photography is failure" - I'm taking that wih me. So true.
Loved the episode Faizal! 😀
Excellent video, a pleasure to enjoy your analysis, thank you.
Great summary of AWs work. I enjoyed the video. Thanks.
Love this series!
Great work, Faizal! I do not know many street photographers so I am learning lots from this series!
Glad you enjoyed the episode Helen!
this whole video is so inspiring, the story and the way you told it, very good!
I would love to see one about Andre Josselin
Webb's transition to color was specifically shooting on Kodachrome - a classic film all around and one I shot extensively in the 80's and early 90's before its demise - specifically Kodachrome 64 and Kodachrome 200.
this is a beautiful tribute 🙌🏼
love it, keep these coming!
Will do!
Covered this as well a while back. Cool to get your perspective on his work as well.
We need more videos like this

Gooooood Video! Thx😊
:’) really inspiring work and video essay, the ending really landed with me.
This was a slammin video I like the way you explore the masters. Would like to see more like this.
Thanks so much for the love!
your welcome much👌
well done, love this
Thanks!
love your video as always
Thanks so much!
A Master like Harry Gruyaert, both are my Top5 photographers

Great video😊
Nice video! Ray Metzger would be an interesting artist to do this for.
This was brilliant
I really like your videos man...
Insightful video! Does Alex Webb only shoot in landscape mode? No vertical shots?
The GOAT 🐐
Just wondering if you had Alex Webb's permission to use his images?
I’d like to see Sergio Larraín next. Check out the book Valparaiso
hi Faizal! Im wondering could you put your setup list in description? that would be awesome
Hey man, what setup are you referring to?
for your video camera etc.@@FaizalWestcott
Great!

I find some pics are better in colour and some pics are better in black and white. Don’t really know why. It’s just my feeling.
08:55 heart*
Yeahhhh I noticed that after the fact 😫
Where's Street Study ep. 03?

What focal length does he generally use?
It seems like most of the images were taken with a 28mm or a 35mm
I’ve read mostly 35mm
For the next episode: Harrry Gruyaert
He was the first episode haha
