About Steve Bezner
Steve Bezner (PhD, Baylor University) is senior pastor of Houston Northwest Church in Houston, Texas. He is a local leader and participant in Multi-Faith Neighbors Network, where he builds bridges with Muslims and Jews, and he serves on the board of the Houston Church Planting Network. He also trains church planters through Glocalnet, serves on the executive committee of Texas Baptists, and is an adjunct professor at George W. Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University. Bezner lives in Houston with his wife and two sons.

Thank you both for putting into words what my heart has grieved over the last 8 years and what has happened to the Church. The Church is fractured and It has been revealing how many Christians have allowed their politics to guide their theology. I pastored in Texas for 6 years during this period and have since left for more parachurch ministry because of how disheartening this revelation has been. Thank you both for sharing your experience and validating what many of us in the church have observed.

I see people searching for a comfortable Jesus. They aren't interested in taking up their cross, and following Jesus, they're looking for personal attention and glory. Religious institutions and congregations have become religious social clubs.
