  • Bharathanatyam is a form of Indian classical dance that originated in the temples of Tamil Nadu. It was described in the treatise Natya Shastra by Bharata around the beginning of the common era. Bharata Natyam is known for its grace, elegance, purity, tenderness, expression and sculpturesque poses. Lord Shiva in his Nataraja form is considered the God of this dance. Today, it is one of the most popular and widely performed dance styles and is practised by male and female dancers all over the world, although it is more commonly danced by women

Taniya di tumi thik bole6o. People here always look down dancers as its an unworthy subject but they forget that foreign artists come India for higher education in their field just like we Indian go outside in the field of science and other "Merit based subject". So it's our efforts and success that we have made the infrastructure in art field so strong. Still we are underestimated..

I wonder why people should look at it the way you want them to see. People look at stuff which is easily understandable. It takes lot of effort to understand the meaning of Bharatanatyam where as Bollywood songs/dance are easy to grasp for everyone. The same applies to vedas. No one understands them. Its not their mistake.
After some experience I came to a conclusion that it is futile to talk to people who are into materialistic world. Let them dive into material stuff, they will recognize it one day when they reach extremes of materialism. Infact they are all part of Gods consciousness.
