      I went with two co workers. I sent photos as I went with my mom--she lives in another state. She would tell me what she liked, but even then what I picked was what I picked. She just wants me to really wear a veil. Which that's fine. She also wanted me to wear a white gown, which I didn't like. Not a fan of pure white or ivory. I wanted a champange or something similar. She voiced it, but never was like "no you're getting a white gown like what I want". I'll be the same way with my own two girls if that time comes.

    I really hate it when people in the group try to make it all about them. When it comes to the brides dress, if that's what she loves then that's what she loves. I don't care if you're the mother of the bride, sister, best friend, mother in law, I don't care. Its not about you. Likewise with bridesmaids/braidal party, the bride will have a vision of what she wants, but don't try to force things onto her.

    • @jaybehkay2438
      @jaybehkay2438 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I understand what you're saying but I do feel like with bridesmaids they should have a little bit more of a say especially if they're really uncomfortable with the brides idea but do it recpectfully at least

    I think it is so selfish to tell the bride what dress u want her to wear. For god sake it is not your wedding. It is her day and her time to shine while wearing a dress what she likes.

    • @nicolenelson3853
      @nicolenelson3853 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Exactly! Unless they're paying for it, they shouldn't feel entitled to decide what she wears. Even then, you shouldn't expect her to wear a dress she doesn't like just because you're paying for it.

    • @ThePimmy11
      @ThePimmy11 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

  • @bcpr9812
    @bcpr9812 7 ปีที่แล้ว +50

    Ugh... people are such assholes. Give your polite, supportive take on a dress, without being a jerk. Don't directly insult the bride's body (what the wrong dress does to a body with a bad fit is another thing). If you're friends or family contributing to the cost of the dress, you do so out of love for the bride, not so that you can have a controlling stake in what she wears. Ultimately, the perfect dress is whatever makes the bride happiest, not everyone else. To assume control over a dress you're not even wearing is control freak behaviour, and it's selfish and incredibly unhealthy. How is this so hard to understand?

      I would still want my mam's opinion on my dress, even if she wasn't paying any part of it. But I'm kind of indecisive and most of the time I just want someone to back up my opinion so that I feel sure I'm making a good choice. would still want her honest opinion though, but again that's because I'd want to know what others are going to think of it too.

    The mother in law one is crazy. This bride must run while she can. She is going to be married to the mother in law, not her son.

    I’m so glad my parents are laid back hippies. They would be totally fine with whatever I was happy with, and would gush over me in anything. Lucky.

    I just hope that when I get married in maybe like, 10-15 years (I hope), that my mom/parents won't act like this and will let me choose (or maybe we'll like the same exact thing and we'll have no problem)

    This is just like mine...i got forced to buy my wedding dress and i can't change it into what i want because my mother to be in law, my bridesmaid and maid of honor are refusing to wear the dress I was, the hair I have planned, the shoes I have planned and the make-up. They keep throwing me under the bus saying how it's their body and they dont have to do what I want....IM THE BRIDE!!!! Just because I'm marrying your brother/son does not mean you get to run my wedding!!!!

    I'm so glad I have a supportive mother who would never not let me get a dress I fell in love with because she doesn't care for it

    Leave mom at home if she can't be supportive of YOUR decision. Not sure why an entourage is needed to pick out a dress anyway. Your wedding... your decisions are final.

    My Mother said the biggest regret at her wedding was her hairstyle, that she didn't take enough control over it being her day. She doesn't want that for me. I want a form-fitting, long-sleeved dress with a tight midsection, a scooping neckline, and a slight train. I don't want the veil too big, and I want my hair in a braided French twist. This has always been my ideal style since I was a little girl.

    0.48 I got this! A wedding dress is still tradicional if it has the right shape (and lace maybe), let's just ignore all that see through material

    I'm close to my mom, so I picture her picking dresses that look better on me than the consultant honestly.
