Thank you so much, Marcel! I haven't received much feedback on this one yet, it's relieving to hear that it's the best one yet, it was a long time in the making, hit a few creative roadblocks along the way. But I'm proud of it. If you feel like sharing it on your channel, you have my full permission.
Incredible stuff. I only recently discovered your work (through Marcel) and I can't stop listening. I grew up in Fonthill, so I love knowing that a Niagara boy is responsible for some of the most creative and unique music around today.
I'm glad all your records are on Spotify!. This my favourite one, something changed in the sound from your previous albums, this one is still very creative and very complex. I feel the compexity it's more organized here, also while the other albums featured more old school funk elements, Idiosyncrasies lends towards to a more futuristic synthezised concept. But yet it has a track like Denial which brings me back to your 1st album. All in all, great great innovative music. Keep it going!.
Thank you! There are a couple of my older album only available on Bandcamp, but my best material is available on Spotify. Regarding "Idiosyncracies". I'm glad you noticed. There are a few things I did differently for this one, the main thing was that I didn't utilize the guitar, there was no guitar recorded on this album at all. I feel it generated a different sound, the other thing I did was try to keep songs under 6 minutes leading to a more focused experience. I'm thrilled to see people picking up on this stuff and enjoying it! Thank you so much for your support!
Ha!, so no guitars on this one, I didn't noticed!. Maybe that's the difference between this one and the others, perhaps the guitars give the music a "vintage" feeling which is mostly absent here. I usually pay more attention to the percussion/drum parts and you always do a great job with the drums. Sometimes I don't know if you're live recording an acoustic drum set, or sequencing the recorded drums or a mix of both; I'm still wondering!.
That may be one reason, another thing that might contribute to a more "modern" sound is that I approached the final mix differently. With most my older albums I was deliberately going for a 70s sound. This one, I wanted the mix to sound clearer and fuller. My only regret is that I didn't mess around with instrument panning as much as I should have. But that's always something for me to consider for future albums. As for the drums, well I think it's far more interesting to leave it a mystery (although, it might be a little bit of column A and column B).
really beautiful. I don't know why but i just binged all of your albums on this channel. Love your work, there's something about the slow progression of each song that really reels me in
No sé si me entenderán pero que álbum tan genial!!! Enserio disfrute todo analice todo y comondecimos en el léxico de los músicos en latino América "que rico suena" me encanto los conocí por deezer!! Dios los bendiga!
Man I love this band's music. Every album is fantastic. I wish they'd release their shit on vinyl tho, this kind of music would be fantastic; The funky bass lines and the awesome synth tones. Wish I could find some records cuz the digital copies I find are good but vinyl would really do this music justice
Thank you, Matthew! That's a great idea, and I'd love to do that! I wish I had enough resources to release my discography on vinyl. If I ever get to a point in life where I'm not living in absolute poverty, I'll be sure to make vinyl editions of my music available.
@@superfluousmotor Ahhh true m8, too bad. One day man for sure. Until then I'll just have to wait till you guys come around for a few shows in Toronto. I think you guys are Canadian so I hope it won't be too long. Keep on rocking!
@@matthewdalessandro5975 I live in Niagara Falls, so a Toronto gig may be likely one day, definitely something I'd love to do down the road! I'd first have to actually get a band together for that. Currently, I'm just a one-man show. Finding people who actually want to play unmarketable funk/fusion is tough!
@@superfluousmotor Wow seriously dude that's incredible I wouldn't have figured that at all. Everything sounds tight af. Like you mixed and mastered and everything? Seriously dude that is super impressive
@@matthewdalessandro5975 Thanks again! Yep, I do everything alone. Although, I wish I had more people working on it with me. Too bad I not organized or well off enough to actually make it happen. Currently, it's a passion project that I work on on the side, and I'm super stoked that people enjoy it!
Sorry but, is there a vynil edition of this? I prefer because the cover art among other reasons. I loved it. thank you for share your soul in a so original and also warm way.
Thank you for your comment! I wish I were able to offer Vinyl. Sadly, there isn't a budget for it right now. Offering my music on vinyl is definitely something I'd love to be able to accommodate one day. In the meantime, I hope you can still enjoy the music!
I didn't know you had a new album coming, can't wait to listen!
EDIT: This is my favourite one yet!
