The worst VAR decision is when they didn’t give a 5 match ban to the defender who gave you the knee injury.

with lewandowski they accidentally used the defenders foot as the reference point for the 3d graphics, which is what caused the mistake. but as always in spain, the league didnt even apologize lol

The entire 3D rendering is miscalculated. La Liga came out and said that their VAR is rendered by an AI, and clearly, due to their proximity, the AI struggled to differentiate between Lewandowski's body and the defender's. The arm positions are completely different, the directions their heads are turned are different, and if the AI can't even figure those things out, how the hell is it going to figure out two players' feet that are right next to one another. It even looks like their legs are clipping through eachother in the render??
Although honestly, just eyeballing it tells you the answer clearly. Lewandowski's heel pokes out like a solid 2 or 3 inches beyond the heel of the defender, who is also like 4 inches taller than Lewy. Are we meant to believe that a 6'0 lad has a size 14 whilst a 6'4 defender has size 10 boots 😭

I don’t know if you realise, but the semi-auto offside technology messed up here. It effectively swapped Lewa’s boot with the defender’s, and rotated the further forward boot to be facing the same way as Lewa then put it on his leg, so although Lewa was onside it read him as offside

No mentions about Marc Cucurella's handball during Spain vs Germany. It's 100% penalty and would have denied Spain for winning the fourth Euros.
Also, let's not forget the corruption that AFC Football had, especially by favouring an Arab countries like Qatar. The 2023 Asian Cup Final vs Jordan (3 penalties scored by Akram Afif) and the 2026 World Cup qualifiers vs India (the ghost goal) were notable VAR fiascos.

The offside on Isak was wrong in a different way, the line shown at 10:51, yes he is offside. But When that line was drawn was the moment GYÖKERES recieved the ball. in his own half. And they said offside on Isak who wasn't near at all during that time..

Coventry's penalty against Man United is perfect representation of VAR. Inconsistencies (especially in hand ball occasions). And people ignoring decisions against United just to focus on decisions in favour of United. I've seen many people talk about that offside decision but many people just conveniently ignore that dodgy penalty decision (which is the reason why Coventry made it into extra time).

I'm so glad someone else was really confused by the commentators in that Manchester Derby. Like... That is a clear yellow card if it happened literally ANYWHERE else on the pitch. It's just so idiotic. And while I agree that there is a certain respect to be given to the frustration involved in rivalry matches when it comes to awarding yellow cards or red cards, a foul is a foul. Do I think Dias deserves to be reprimanded for the challenge given the context of the rivalry game? Personally, I don't think it's important. But is it a penalty? Always.

    • @levanderblue
      @levanderblue 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +7

It's also especially frustrating because it demerits the players. Hojlund has underperformed stat wise this season, but he is undoubtedly a phenomenal player and in this instance he shows that by doing everything right. And yet after the game the talk is that his performance was just meh because he didn't win that penalty.

If that wasn't the case, there wouldn't be so much protection of refs for so much as complaining about their sht job. I fully get and somewhat agree with this point, but let’s say you book Caicedo for that and give a free kick. You then have 2 future options: every single tackle and card/no card call gets reviewed, or they stick to only red card checks. If they do the latter, then you’d have free kicks getting given by VAR if they checked for a red, but not if it was just a normal foul that the ref missed. This would cause a huge inconsistency, which tbf refs don’t seem to be against

VAR when used correctly is one of the best things in football because it can fairly overturn wrong decisions that can happen on the pitch. The problem is the people who use it are not competent enough to make the right decisions despite having a wall of screens and any angle they could dream of. If there's a tight call then let VAR have the time to come to the objectively correct decision and just have a timer on exactly how long it takes and make sure that time is added on at the end of the half. The problems are so obvious but the refs are just untouchable (until they snort some lines) that no one can actually do anything. The whole Forest press release led to absolutely no change despite being a huge thing for the club to do

One thing that bugs me in football is when people say, thats not enough for a 2nd yellow. Like tf you mean. If its a yellow it doesnt matter if its the first or 2nd one

I’d agree with you about keepers but in a penalty situation they are less than 20% chance likely to save a shot when the chance should 50/50. I’m not staying they shouldn’t be restricted to their line but seems like the striker gets a lot more benefits than the keeper does in that situation

The description of goalkeepers makes me think that they must have been learning from Tom Brady, because DEAR GOD that guy would SCREAM at refs if he got even slightly brushed against sometimes.... in a sport where one of the main defensive goals is to take the make with the ball and drive him to the ground.

Early in the video when talking about the United vs Coventry game, you said that the moment should be taken into account for decisions but then said the moment doesn't change the rulebook later in the video about the United vs City game?

You mentioned the second yellows not being intefered with, so Phillips getting sent off against Leicester when, 8 seconds earlier, Chaplin was about to shoot after cutting inside, but getting absolutely destroyed inside the box, and it not being given a penalty. Worst decision of the year for me.

I always thpught to myself as a kid that why dont the refrees look at the studium boards they show that moment like 10 time they can show it on tv just the same second why cant they watch it
The fact that var took so long to come to football should indicate that its messed up

Its always been an issue with the way VAR is told to work. They can only intervene when the ref makes a ''clear and obvious'' error. This makes every decision subjective, and will inherently make them reluctant to change the decision. What VAR should instead be doing is ensure that referees maintain more consistency across different games throughout a season, thats literally all the change thats needed to improve the system

So he wants them to follow the rules no matter the occasion 9:58 but then he also wants them to take into account the footballing moment allowing a wrong decision might create 2:46 . Right good process lad😂

Im a Huddersfield fan and we are currently in leauge one, every home game we play we normally get 1-2 blatant pens not allowed, it makes me want to have to have var in lower leauges of the prem but i dont think the refs are really qualified to use it correctly, just have visual disabilities 😂

Speaking about Var decisions at the Euros: That pen from Dumfries on Kane was NOT a pen. Dumfries stuck his foot out for the ball and Kane just managed to coincidentally fall over it 2 seconds after Dumfries stuck his foot out
    Disgraceful decision

the only one i would disagree with is when the ref blew his whistle while real were on the attack. Referees are supposed to blow when the time has passed, its just common that referees don't until the ball is in a unthreatening position. It is not a mistake, nor is it a dodgy decision.
