  • I've been aware of the Pleiades Star Cluster for a long time but never noticed there was such a bright, but distant galaxy that could easily be seen in the background. It's called UGC 2838, and it's 283 million light-years from Earth.
    Here are my equipment setup details:

And realising that we'll never be able to look into their "Present" and never know if there's someone just like us somewhere in those galaxies who's looking into our past.

      @Astro Nerd in this case, UGC 2838. I’ve captured images of objects as well where there’s a more distant object lurking in the background. A good example is just below the Heart & Soul Nebulae are a pair of faint galaxies, Maffei 1 & Maffei 2, which are about 11 million light years away. Fun little objects that hide in plain sight.

    These pictures take my breath away every time you post brother, but to see the Pleiades in this way is emotional for me. Ive always been drawn to this star cluster ever since my childhood. • @ChucksAstrophotography

      I certainly think life is out there, but because this star cluster is so young, I'm not sure if life could have formed so fast.

    • @geemanbmw
      @geemanbmw 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Maybe be Carlos maybe, but like chuck said this cluster is way too young for planet formation. The big stars that make the cluster famous are Type B giants and the possibility for planet formation is almost nonexistent for many factors but there is a F type star in the pleadies cluster a F6V somewhere on the age of 35-100 million years old with hot dust particals orbiting around it possibly planet formation. So who knows its still to early to tell.

    Chuck, do you ever see starlink sat streaks in your images? Are they something you have to deal with in you observations and imagery?
