This is designed to be used for network cable testing, so it wouldn't be standing on a bench. It would be held in hand as cables are plugged in for testing. Also because it has an active display ou can read it from any angle. doesn't need to be aimed at you like conventional LCD
looks really interesting, 1 device replaces 3, it would be interesting to see how accurate it is on fibre measurements compared to a "professional" FPM
It measured more accurately than my professional EXFO opm. Since I have access i logged into the ont and looked at the level received and its 0.2db lower on the ont than the meter shows. So this reads. 2 db higher. My EXFO on the other hand is .8 higher.
Great review! Do you know if you can change the RJ45 Connection diagram from 568B to 568A on the ToolTop ET638? Australia and Canada, for example, use 568A.
The only difference is the orange and green pairs reversed. 12 orange 36 green on one and 12 green 36 orange on other. As long as they are the same on both ends of cable then you are good.
@12voltvids Yeah, but doesn't help when a junior offsider looks at the colours instead and thinks that's how it should be wired here in Australia (or Canada)...
Sure... Here I am retired after 37 Years and the "Cool Tools" are coming out. I checked Fiber with a Flashlight or the Sun. HAHAHAHAHAAHA Thanks Dave....
@@12voltvids We didn't have the funds for the High priced testing stuff. Fiber was new to us back in the late 90's and the only Fiber I did was "on-premise" stuff like Our local ski Hill. I installed 12 Strand for 2 of the new High speed Detachable 6 Person Lifts. Pre connectorized pigtails were ordered and all I had to do splice them to the cable. and at about 2000ft I could see the Sun nice & bright at the bottom ...
Looks great Dave very good meter the only criticism I have is it didn’t have a stand at the back of the meter

Probably works better than my viavi.
Looks interesting!
11:00 "do not stare into beam with remaining eye" 😉
It is not a focused beam like a laser pointer.
Hi - I’m looking for a repair on a Sony DAT Walkman - you were recommended 😊
Do you have an email address I could send details to?
Thanks

That doesn't work well when you are tracing back from the prem to the distro hub that might be 5KM away
