I JUST finished this book. I very much enjoyed the characters and their compassion for each other. As a dog lover, this hit good parts of my brain (and heart). Intensity was a great Koontz novel. The title gives it away, but boy was this story intense.
I love this book. The Servants of Twilight and the Odd Thomas books are good as well. I didn't know about the King-Koontz rule and so (shame on me), read them at the same time. It's amazing to me, that they can't make good movies (in my humble opinion) out of the books of these two Authors. The Watchers they tried twice with and failed miserably. Odd Thomas and The Stand are the two exceptions for me. Thanks for the video and see you in the next one.
Too true. To be fair, some of the best movies of all time are Stephen King stories... But it's crazy that there are so many misses. (Race-swapping Roland Deschain was... a choice... But Idris Elba truly BECAME the last gunslinger of Gilead. HE was not what made the film mediocre.
You're totally right about the "rivalry" and I was definitely in the King camp as a teenager and young adult! I have read a few Koontz books, but I'd need to go check some quick summaries as I can't recall any specific titles - even this doesn't sound too familiar. For fun, you should go watch the 1988 movie, loosely based on this book.
If you get a chance, check out the Dean Koontz story in Harlan Ellison's Again Dangerous Visions called A Mouse in the Walls of The Global Village. Great short story. Great channel keep on posting!
My first Koontz as well, coming from a lifetime of King. This book has all of the tense elements you're looking for from King with an overall... lighter... type of storytelling. If you've read "everything" Stephen King, this book is an easy next step that you'll love.
Loved Watchers! I followed a similar path. I started with King and I've read more King. I have read several Koontz now though. Two I particularly like by Koontz are Midnight and By The Light of the Moon.
I recommend Phantoms if you get the chance! I also experienced the King Vs Koontz (I read King mostly and my sister was more in Koontz). She read Phantoms and kind of kept bugging me about it saying I HAD to read it, I'd love it. And I did.

Yeah, totally! The kindness of the main characters was very welcoming.

Nice!
I recommend reading The Bad Place (Horror) and the Jane Hawk series (Thriller). Jane Hawk begins with The Silent Corner.

Thanks for the recs! I'll check those out. I'm probably going to read Phantoms some time soon.
I have a soft spot for Midnight. There's so many crazy ideas in this one, it's pretty fun!
That is a great one! Wild how the first half has barely any dialogue and its still so readable and compelling!

It's on my shelf!
His book ‘Oddkins’ is really wacky.
