Hey Joshua I have a questions about remote binding with your kit. Firstly huge thanks for the detailed instructions in your series. I've watched all of it and its given me alot of confidence to go from the casual DJI drones i've been flying to more acrobatic/freestyle drones. My question is can the dji remote 2 work with this build? I read if your using the DJI O3 system, you do not need to use an ELRS receiver as the O3 system has one built in and all you need to do is bind it similar to the Goggles 2 and use Beta flight to bind the buttons appropriately. Is that correct? Just want to make sure I dont accidentally solder things that don't need to do. Thanks again! 👍
Make sure your got your 03s on more than 9v. It could've been me upgrading to elrs and it not talking to the rc anymore but the range difference is wicked. Only moved to 10v.

Hey JB! Im building this rig using the O3. I am having trouble finding a spot with clearance for the Receiver at the rear of the quad. The o3 with the doublesided tape leaves not enough vertical clearance between the top plate and the ELRS RX (i am using the same unit you are in this build). Any tips on appropriate alternatives would he appreciated!!!
Thanks for the great video series! I have one question though. What about the internal build in receiver of the O3 air unit? I've checked other videos where I got the information that you should cut one cable of the O3 unit so the two different receivers will not cause a conflict. Did I miss this in the video series? The O3 was connected directly to the FC without the need of soldering, was the behavior together with the other Express LRS receiver mentioned? Or do we now have both options in this build? ELRS with the Boxer Remote or the option with some DJI Remote for the O3 build in receiver that shares the channel with Video.. I'm a bit confused.
This video is showing how to use Boxer with ELRS receiver. If you wanted to use the DJI Controller, you can, but you would configure the FC differently.
@@JoshuaBardwellThanks for the reply. I think it goes back to this question in your video: th-cam.com/video/-Kb-IeWWKOY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=EGukZk8ex66TUqMA I assume there is no conflict in your build and it depends on the beta flight configuration if I want to use the DJI O3 system for everything or utilize the ELRS Receiver with the Boxer (or some other ELRS controller). No need touching the hardware again, its about the software configuration. Thanks for the answer!
Any way possible with this FC to use the DJI air unit along with an ELRS receiver as well as a GPS/RID unit added? unfortunately, I think not having enough UART's answered my question...
Hey brotha, I couldn't find the ELRS receiver in stock, so I ordered the RP3 V2 ExpressLRS receiver from radiomaster when I ordered my Radio. It has the dual antenna (dipole). I think this should work fine, we'll see! Do you know a good 3D printer resource I could find a mount to print? If not, I'll probably just design one, I have a few rolls of TPU handy.

@@JoshuaBardwell Thanks. I re-soldered onto UART3 and it worked immediately. Maybe I fried something on UART4, who knows, but same settings just used UART3 and all good now.
I have my radiomaster boxer bound, and followed the s9ldering guide as you have it but none of my inputs from my boxer are working. The xilo stack v4 manual suggests a different soldering placement for the crossfire transmitter, should i resolder to thar or is there something else im missing? Im set to uart 4 for serial rx, serial rx is the mode set, and crossfire is selected as protocol on both drone and boxer
Where is a good place to mount the receiver for the analog build? On top of the exposed analog transmitter doesn't seem ideal. Maybe wrap the transmitter with tape first?

Hi Joshua, you no longer include a receiver in the kit, leaving it up to us to pick one out. If I go with a dual anentenna, will I have issues with the 3d-printed you include?
The kit never included a receiver, because we don't want to lock you in to a control link that you might not use. If you use a different receiver, you may need to use a different antenna mount.
@@JoshuaBardwell Sounds good, thanks. For the first build I will stick with a single antenna, make it as close to yours as possible to avoid any unnecessary hiccups.
The recommended receivers are listed on the GetFPV product page. This is the one I suggest: www.getfpv.com/happymodel-expresslrs-nano-2-4ghz-ep1-rx.html
It does not come with a receiver because we wanted to allow for people who already have a different type of controller to supply their own receiver. There is a note to this effect. On the product page but it's easy to miss.

No. The kit doesn't lock you into any specific receiver type. You can use one you already have, if you want. But the tutorials use ELRS, and you can buy that receiver separately.
Can someone pls explain me what is ELRS Receiver is for ? And Is it compatable with o3 or how to understand if it's needed ? Im really new to this stuff.

@@JoshuaBardwell .Thanks for your answer. And if I remove crossfire module, and use a dji fpv controler V2? will it set the UART 4 free to plug the Gps? .if yes what UART as to bet to serial for the dji controller?

Hi sir, hope u doin well, Just bought your drone kit I'm facing a problem installing gps module, I installed elrs rx to uart 4 and theres no more available uarts for me to add gps module, do I need to upgrade to different flight controller?
The Xilo FC cannot support digital vTX + ELRS RX + GPS. It only has two full UARTs. So you have to change the FC or you have to pick only two of those three. If you are using analog vTX or if you are using FrSky receiver, then you can also use GPS.
Hey JB! Why is it when put the packet rate on 50hz my drone is not arming. Only on 500hz and 250hz but not on 50 I didn't try the other one. If you are using a DJI RC Controller V2 bound to the O3, then you wouldn't do this step. But that setup is not in this tutorial. If you are using an ELRS controller with ELRS receiver, then you do this step.
Yes, you can either get a receiver that works with the built-in protocol (like frsky, you'll have to check what you have built in) or get an ELRS external module for the taranis which i would reccomend because elrs is much better than frsky

It does not. You have to order it separately.
Hi Joshua, does the elrs reciever come with the kit?
No. The kit doesn't lock you into any specific receiver type. You can use one you already have, if you want. But the tutorials use ELRS, and you can buy that receiver separately.
@@JoshuaBardwell ok thank you
I DO THE STEP BY STEP AND WHEN I ENTER BETAFLIGHT CONFIG IT DOES NOT ACTIVATE THE GRAPHIC BARS MY RADIO IS A RADIOMASTER ZORRO
Can someone pls explain me what is ELRS Receiver is for ? And Is it compatable with o3 or how to understand if it's needed ? Im really new to this stuff.
I think the o3 connects to goggles and receiver connects to the remote
Quick question, if both UART’s that are available are used, is there any way to attach a remote ID module like a dronetag bs or dri?
I'm a card carrying member if the U.S. TRUST drone UAS
Ihave recieved no notifications of any new developments . It said free , then after i gave them my name and address etc it was $43 .
on the digital version, I want to plug a gps. But you used the UART 4 for the recever (Tbs for me). UART 3 is for O3. No more free UART ? I tried to plug recever on Sbus/DSM (Tx1/Rx1) but it doesn t work. What would you suggest ?
There isn't any way to also do a GPS.
@@JoshuaBardwell .Thanks for your answer. And if I remove crossfire module, and use a dji fpv controler V2? will it set the UART 4 free to plug the Gps? .if yes what UART as to bet to serial for the dji controller?
Then UART 1 is SBUS from the O3 unit and UART 4 can be used for GPS.
@@JoshuaBardwell I blinded the RC to the O3, plugged the O3 cables to the FC. Set UART1 to serial in betaflight, connect the Lippo, Nothing happens . Is there something I missed ?
Thank you very much for all those videos! A patreon
how many AWG cable are you using ontthis reciver
Around 26awg
Hi sir, hope u doin well, Just bought your drone kit I'm facing a problem installing gps module, I installed elrs rx to uart 4 and theres no more available uarts for me to add gps module, do I need to upgrade to different flight controller?
The Xilo FC cannot support digital vTX + ELRS RX + GPS. It only has two full UARTs. So you have to change the FC or you have to pick only two of those three. If you are using analog vTX or if you are using FrSky receiver, then you can also use GPS.
I use o3 + elrs, thank u sir
Was looking for this answer as I thought that when I just plug the O3 without soldering, the UART would be available for the RX or GPS 😢
hey my kit didnt come with the 3d printed parts, where can we get those?

Hey JB! Why is it when put the packet rate on 50hz my drone is not arming. Only on 500hz and 250hz but not on 50 I didn't try the other one. Can it be that the drone only support 250 and 500 or what is the problem here. I have to say this is the eu version that ony goes to 100mw not 250mw. If I just knew that bevor. But for my use 100mw should be plenty. Just checked aging it say 100mw ce limit below so yes. Just this hz thing why it not let me go to 50hz?
When you go to 50 Hz, does any message appear in the goggle on-screen display, such as SMOOTHING?
@@JoshuaBardwell give me a sec I check rn
@@JoshuaBardwell that's very interesting now it works. I did the same put packet rate on 50hz befor didn't turn on now yes. Lol anyway thanks for this fast response
@@JoshuaBardwell hey JB it works now but something else came up. Just here to let you know mabe you know why. So on 50hz it works but I loose connection all the time it say telemetry critical in my apartment which is pretty small 32m² so yes that's weird. Thanks for the help. I dont see no smoothing in my googles. Can it be that my radio has a ce block for 100mw and that just not enough for 50hz ???
If I am running an 03, do I need this step?
If you are using a DJI RC Controller V2 bound to the O3, then you wouldn't do this step. But that setup is not in this tutorial. If you are using an ELRS controller with ELRS receiver, then you do this step.
wait so does RX Always go to TX and TX always go to RX?
Yes, pretty much. There are some rare cases where TX goes to TX but they are the exception not the rule.
20:41 Does anyone else hear it 💀😭
I have the Taranis.
Can i use it in "modern" quads?
Yes, you can either get a receiver that works with the built-in protocol (like frsky, you'll have to check what you have built in) or get an ELRS external module for the taranis which i would reccomend because elrs is much better than frsky
@@EagleFPV43 i bought $600 elrs and found out it needs a computer ground station and internet link . So mention that .
my kit didn't come with a ElRS receiver 🙁
never mind I looked back at the kit and it clearly states that the receiver isn't included.
I did all of this but im getting no stick responses in betaflight ive been trying to figure it out for almost 5 days
Ever found a fix for it
@@mynamejev2489 yeah I figured it out I forgot what it’s called on beta flight and I’m not home right now but I’ll share when I get back in a few days
What uart would I use if I wanted to use csrf nano rx instead of the supplied elrs rx?
The wiring would be identical. ELRS and CRSF have identical pinout.
I like you showing me how the sausage is made, Josh......
Why it will never fly
Who is a professional drone builder I can pay to build me a custom drone or finish my build I will pay what it cost to finish.spent to much money and drone won't fly only rtf for me from now on
Not clever. lol
I like your "gRRReen = RRRReceiver on FC" convention.
However, it's not green, it's teal.
T-eal, T-ransmit. R-oyal blue. R-eciever. (also R as in reciever and B as in blue look very similar, RB BR).
Enjoy.
