My local KMart closed in early 2014 when I was around 9 and now it's replaced by a ROSS Store. Seeing the save the KMart thing really made me remember how when I was younger and shopping for clothes there. Thank you for bringing all of my KMart Memories back.

As of May 2018, the Kmart store chain has 365 store locations left in the United States. I don't how much longer they can survive. The last Super Kmart in Ohio closed in April 2018. As more WalMart's are built, they are closing nearby Kmarts

If you ever make it over to the swamp that is NJ, we have a couple open ones in the Central Jersey and Shore area. Wall, Trenton/Hamilton and W. Long Branch and Somers Point are still open that I remember. One closed this year as well, in Toms River and if I remember correctly I don’t think they knocked it down yet or turned it into anything else which they did for a majority of them from around here.

I'm suprised law enforcement didn't pick you up. I lived in Hillsboro moving from the Chicago area and worked at that Kmart until another store was built and opened up. I now live in Grove City where the last Kmart in the Columbus area is set to close in December.
It's not abandoned. Rural King bought the place and plans on demolishing it and building a whole new building. The one by my house in Mentor was already demolished about a year or less ago. They're slowly working on it.

Worked about half an hour from there for about nine years from 99 to 08. This was the first Former Super Kmart i was ever in. That's where i learned about Super Kmarts. The back section and to the right was blocked off and that's where the Deli and all the other grocery items of a Super Kmart were. The nicest staff of any Kmart i have ever been in. Knew it was closing down on my last visit because items that were normally stocked on shelves weren't and about two weeks later it's closing was announced. Plus the video games in the Arcade were mostly not working. And no one bothered to repair them. Shot video of the outside twice. Once when it was still open and once after it closed on my way back from K FRESH Kmart Chillicothe Ohio. Walmart killed it out that way according to a family source that lives there. Plus Rural King is said to be building there but Sears Holdings is asking for too much money for the property it seems. A Rural King going there has put another building project on hold as well. I loved Kmart . Miss it so much. Wish theyd all come back. I hate Walmart ugh. I used to take my kids to Kmart a few times a week when they were little and just hang out for hrs. Walking around looking at stuff. Always found many bargains. I always bought all my plants and garden stuff there to every spring. And we always ate there to. First when they had a little sit down cafe then when they had little Ceasars. So many great memories at Kmart for like 40 yrs. Sucks most are gone. 😔
Very nice checkouts remain. To save money why dont they salvage some of these items including signs and put them in stores that need it. Next time in IL come to state line in WI and look at our store. Such a joke. Deplorable as you say but still does decent business.
