Logitech Harmony was perfect. Too bad they wear out and die. I'm on my third one, and sadly no more of those even second-hand on ebay. Also, I don't need RF, just make a good Zigbee/BLE remote and open source the API!
The need for a hub is a deal breaker for me. I don't want another mostly pointless hub. I'd like a remote that can record and replay IR commands, replacing my TV remote, but also replace my chromecast and osmc remote.
It's less of a tradeoff than you think. Battery life is better ans they can stick to BT and IR and let the hub handle WiFi. Then you can use the remote from any location and multiple locations triggering routines in various rooms. Switchbot hub 2 is pretty good too as it offers environmental data, display and 2 buttons to customise the actions.
🤔 I'm using the Lloyd's Smart RF + IR Universal Remote Control, WiFi, All-in-One Hub Device
How about building the projector into the coffee table?
That could be also a cool idea

Nice video, but, is it remotely possible that we'll see soon the promised video on unlimited Google photos?
Yes... House move got in the way of things so this isn't forgotten at all. I need to shift some decorating first put of the way
"Is it remotely possible" ... nice.
