In a way Virgil again predicted this shift when he started making more tailored fits and suiting stylings at LV a few years ago, pair that with Kim Jones at Dior has naturally progressed into an organic blend of both tailoring with a street aesthetic!
Ngl I think I prefer if he posted at night. Cause I like listen to him speak on different topics related to fashion, kinda like a mini podcast and honestly I haven’t seen to many TH-camrs that do it the way he does. I don’t know what he does but I like it lol
I live in NYC and Aimé Leon Dore is really popping off right now. On drop days it takes 2.5hrs to get into the Soho store, 20-30 minutes wait on line to get into the during non-drop days. On the Aimé Leon Dore Subreddit, there's even discussions on how to replicate that ALD look without having to spend that ALD money. Abercrombie is getting popular in that subculture of people because it gives you the ALD look at a more affordable and accessible price point. Great video Keezy!!
Ya ald is kind of like supreme was 5/6 years ago my buddy was 2nd in line on Friday he said the Rico shirts were gone instantly after the first ten people lol so happy he sold me his but ya ald is really costly Abercrombie is a decent alternative I recently bought one of these button ups
@@jakegetscake4672 Yeah it was really hard to get those Rico Shirts, I had 11AM Early Access and it sold out upon loading the page. I was looking at Abercrombie yesterday, they have a lot of clean pieces that are good alternatives to ALD
Honestly I’ve been really seeing a lot of punk inspiration a lot of alyx vetements balenciaga and surprisingly a lot of skinny jeans I’ve also seen a lot of the Korean Kanye type of style.
I feel like preppy streetwear has been a thing for time, like talking 5 years back. People like Daniel Simons have been doing this and there was key fashion styles such as tucking in T-shirts to provide a smarter edge. Maybe the masses are tapping into it more because the aesthetic perfectly compliments the trend of having wider trousers.
haha yeah. I'm in NYC and I had a friend back in Fall 2019 that would always tuck in his tshirt into his trousers. He was hella fly and ahead of his time for sure
Not feelin the preppy look but leather, balaclavas and ties ALWAYS been in. The popularity of balaclavas is the best thing that happened with COVID. Now I can wear all the masks I've been wanting to wear with less worry that the cops think I'm trying to rob the place
I see doc martins making a comeback - I know they did a few years back w the platforms but the black on black platforms are fire and look so sick with more formal wear literally love it.
Frank Ocean was the first person I saw wearing Arc - it's funny to me I'm from the northeast I always just saw older ski type ppl wearing it, never thought it would blow up like it did
I feel like you def should’ve mentioned the trend of people trying to make lowkey street brands which is sorta hard to put in becuz there’s so many people out there making their own styles, logos and brands. I think it’s def a good trend and people take ideas they think fit themselves and turn it into something even more different and unique and it’s very popular to express your own imagination nowadays and making your own graphic/designs.
Didn't think about leather becoming a trend but I think leather is coming back for two reasons: durability/good investment pieces and the 90s/00s subculture references. I started looking into leather goods at an early age since they have always been somewhat timeless, I was lucky enough to buy the Orée NY Leather jacket when they first dropped in part from my influences from the Hedi boy/rap goth wave from the early 2010s but I ended up looking for leather pants and now own a couple pairs for the fact that they are a fun statement piece and actually have a fair amount of wearability. Additionally, leather is a fairly durable material and a good pair can last decades and possibly a lifetime. Secondly, the 90s/00s leather subcultures. When thinking of leather in the 90s, you have the rock influence, vintage jackets from the 60s/70s, and the influences of music and film. With raver culture, some people took influence from gay leather bars to make leather a part of rave fashion. Also, you have rap music which brought Avirex, Pelle Pelle, and the infamous 8 ball jackets of NYC. Rock has always had leather jackets but leather motocross-style jackets also got popular. For Film Influences, King of New York is a great example of the many versions of leather, as well as Dead Presidents and Obviously the Matrix. Dead Presidents is unique because of its relationship to the 60s/70s Bronx and references the Black Panthers, showing a lot of leather that I've seen as well as a Dead President's inspired airbrushed mask on a 70s style leather jacket. The Matrix is obviously leather crazy but I'd recommend it to look for leather goods and if you have the money, find someone that makes leather goods and get them made custom so that you can get something form-fitting or with a slightly oversized fit to have something that fits well but can be worn after a freshman 15/holiday food.
The great thing about fashion is, a generation evolves, goes away from sneakers, hoodies, to shirts or boots, that generation then has children and those children are then the opposite of their parents and start again to wear sneakers, hoodies, new brands. . . it’s a cycle that evolves from generation to generation.
Preppy Street all the way!! Been waiting for a style like this to appear ever since 2007 and I’m glad ALD influenced it. IMO, It’s the perfect style for people who grew up on streetwear and want to elevate their style to match their age (although, there’s nothing wrong with wear streetwear when you’re in your late 20s+). Ppl going to be shopping at Abercrombie for the cheaper ALD alternatives 😂
Ngl tho Abercrombie really turned their whole image around. They used to be such a major mall core brand with their oversized logos and cringey shirtless dudes that I never thought they’d recover after all the middle schoolers that bought them grew up but they’ve been releasing some cool ALD type clothing now since rebranding and considering how ALD is kinda overpriced nowadays and how resellers have been starting to take it over, I’m all for it
@@nateg1432 I'm all for it bro. Literally bought like 3 items today too lol. Not trying to make it seem like a bad thing either! I'm all for finding cheaper alternatives if possible. Curious to see the quality of the clothing since it's price is just as much as Zara if not more.
