While I agree the 101st loop was a great reboot to the series, the Anno Un arc is what I'd really point to as the start of Undead Unluck's shift to character focused stories. While it does also involve a battle with a major Uma, the emotional crux of the story is Anno Un and Fuuko's bond.
I didn't think this video would spoil anything beyond the first season of the anime so I scrolled down into the comments and this is the first comment I see 🤡🤡🤡
@@teleblue He deadass told u there was gunna be spoilers. And what kind of sped goes into the comments without any context of the video? This is all on you mate 😂
I love that the first people Fuuko recruits on her loop are Nico, Ichico, Gena, and Void. Four of the least developed and explored characters--one of whom was literally a fridged backstory wife!--welcomed into the narrative as important characters you're given time to know and love. Same with Sean--my man was literally unnamed and we only saw his face in the chapter he was killed for his cowardly assassination attempt! And now he's my cringefail son who I want to find happiness! I hope that the anime's production values will draw people in, because there's plenty fun to keep someone going until it hits the highest highs.
The first five characters Fuuko recruits are Nico, Ichico, Gena, Void and Sean. Excluding Ichico these were all the negators Andy and Fuuko killed in the previous loop
The difference between the the 100th loop and the 101st loop is the same as Juiz and Fuuko. The 100th feels more battle focused and overall cold. We don’t even know unavoidable full name throughout the entirety of it. Because in the pursuit of the death of God, Juiz lost anything that didn’t focus on that goal. Whereas with 101st everything is so Fuuko, being character driven this half pairs well with how much she cares about the individual people in her life. I don’t know if that was intentional by the author from the start buts it’s masterful at portraying both characters and freshens up the idea of doing it all over again because it’s from 2 different perspectives.
which is probably why Juiz despite going through 100 loops was never able to reach her goal of killing god, which is kind of ironic if you think about it.
Actually though, Fuuko can do so well without sacrifices in her loop is largely due to Unknown providing her with all the important information on all the major upcoming events and her using her immortality as a looper more effectively than Juiz.
@@cloutan2746 most artifacts impart visions of past loops. The G-liner pen gives it all yes, but Juiz has ample opportunity to have learned everything first hand or through these imparted visions. The G-liner pen gives a MUCH clearer picture though, so much so that the comparison to the usual visions is laughable. HOWEVER, it only shows the past and future of the current loop, and we know she hasn’t used it in the 101st loop. So i think the knowledge between 100th loop Juiz and 101st Fuuko the same.
@@damonlam9145 I think Fuko has the advantage of it being her first time looping along with the knowledge of artifacts and previous loops. So, she will experiment and try out different possibilities. But when you loop multiple times like Juiz did and still fail, it will weigh down on you. Juiz probably was like Fuko is right now. But her vision of Justice changed from 0 to 100. Even Victor knew that she cannot keep going and wanted to kill her.
I love the fact that the Undead Unluck Reddit kept thinking it was getting cancled all through out the Ragnarok Arc XDDD It was hilarious to watch it unfold.
@@PlainTalkNoBSI heard of that news back then. It wasn't reddit that came up with it, but some Twitter account that's considered a reputable source on SJ manga. I think it also had something to do with colour pages.
@@randomduck8679It's because SJ has a ranking system by reader popularity named 掲載順, and if a manga stays in the last few or so for too long, it will get cancelled. And Undead Unluck did wander around the last pretty often but always managed to get back up right after with a twist or a fantastic battle.
Honestly the meteor never left me hoping for something more epic I was just interested in what unluck would generate against someone. The randomness kept me hooked
Did the opposite for me tbh, I just started to see the formula right away and just felt like every fight was going the same way just replace whatever nonsense beats the villain with some other thing
@papskormsepic7670 Yeah but it's interesting to see how the characters use their abilities to win which I just never found in Undead Unluck, it's just he touches her and something happens so they win
I spent all night catching till the last chapter I didn't even realize it was already morning when I was reading it. I've never read an amazing manga like this one. The build up to chapter 125 was amazing the current loop also makes every interaction with the characters heartwarming. I've always thought of "If only I go back in the past, I could change my life." But after reading this manga. I don't think I have to. I've already had more than enough time to make everything right again. Fukoo is such an amazing character, I seen her at her weakest to now her most strongest. I can't recommend this manga enough. Please go read it.
The concepts are presented great, the worldbuilding is amazing, and the charatcer development, and the multiple callbacks to the beginning make this manga an extreme obvious masterpiece to anyone who gives it 10 chapters, and especially anyone who keeps going -_-. It doesn’t start bad, it starts questionable in 1 spot and grows past it, this video generalizes and makes it sound worse. Masterpiece
The Unknown arc is where I fell in love with the series. The bittersweet sacrifice of Akira just made it one of my favorite arcs. Spring arc ensured that I just kept reading it. can't wait for it to be animated.
I agree that the series decisions to make Fuuko the sole protagonist and developing more the other negators were good choices, but I don't think that the series becomes great only at the end of Ragnarok Arc as you say. Undead Unluck first saga is more than a story that lives up trying to show off amazing events like the meteor coming off. It always has been a character driven story. The story shows its full character potential and emotion in the Unchange Arc and then it gets really good again in the Spring, Summer, Spring and Ragnarok arcs. Events like Gina's words about wanting to change, Akira's whole backstory, Billy's betrayal motives, Shen and Feng's shared past and tragedies, Rip's emotional force and Nico's grief about his wife are great moments of the first saga that are picked up again in the current saga and developed so amazingly thanks to those ideas being introduced before in the first place. For example, Billy's wariness of the third dog in the war saga show that he was still going to become the same man who would have rathered betray everyone to protect them than trust in their capabilities but thanks to Fuuko's confrontation this mindset changes to a one where he gets so jealous of the others' capabilities so much that it makes him want to be like them. So yeah, UU is a hidden gem. It's first chapters are indeed a little worrisome because of Andy's attitude but then this gets corrected and becomes a lovable story about Undead and Unluck. Hope you are not correct about UU not getting popular because it seems that Shueisha is aiming for it to become a big hit big enough like JJK or MHA. Also, if the series gets a good reception then it means other rather ignored series like Yozakura Family, Sakamoto Days and Akane Banashi will have high hopes put on them and great anime adaptations too.
I am from the future. The manga got a significant boost but unfortunately the competition right now is way too big. It’s doing just fine. I think it’s enough for it to get a second season but definitely not enough to call it a hit. I would say it’s Fire Force levels of popular or something like that.
the magic of this series is that none of the fights in the series felt boring because somehow they always find new ways to surprise me; like there's always new kind of unlucky events that Fuuko can trigger, and Andy always got new moves. Special moves in shonen series often becomes repetitive and stagnated after used many times and often relied on new forms or levels to become stronger, while in Undead Unluck the negators becomes stronger by creativity and personal resolve
god , fuuko being a able to do a " bad road " and spread out her unluck across multiple small occurrences instead of one having one single large stroke of unluck happen was such a fucking cool evolution. And it was a callback to Spring where she had done a miniature version through her repeatedly touching Spring which led to multiple strikes of stunning , but non lethal, lightning strikes
I was recommended this manga by an online friend in the MHA fandom when the most recent chapter was chapter 16. And damn am I happy he did. I was a bit put off by the Billy stuff around Chapter 38. But learning what we learn later, on a re-read, that stuff isn’t bad at all. It’s just better with hindsight. And dammit. The Anno Un Arc is what got me to fully embrace the series and never look back. I really hope people will give this a chance because whilst the fanbase is small, every single person I know who has every read this manga absolutely fucking loves it. I had to berate some of my friends from school to read it. By the time they were caught up they were thanking me for it.
@@c.d.mont.3281 I don’t think I said “questionable” in my comment. But no, because most of that stuff is gone after the first few chapters. More so there is stuff surrounding a character called Billy that doesn’t make a great deal of sense when you first read it but does later on.
It may only get a few seconds of screen time. But I hope DP goes hard on Uma Galaxy. It's a living galaxy in a humanoid form and it's absolutely beautiful as it is terrifying. It's the single largest and most powerful Uma in the series and yet it's completely harmless and so massive that it can't be seen. I bet it you zoomed out of the UU universe you'd see it just chilling in the Void.
@@PlainTalkNoBS even crazier when you realize that taking out Uma Ghost can basically wipe out the Bleach Verse. Doesn't matter if you scale higher than it most soul reapers that are third seat and above can kill it. Problem is that killing it means you wipe everyone else out. Bc any thing that is in spirit form or is an exposed soul automatically falls under Uma Ghost jurisdiction for erasure
This has been my favorite manga for ages now. S Tier world building, massively creative power system, and lovable cast. I was entranced with this series since the first chapter and have kept strong since. I've been anxious to see the community grow once the anime releases, and I waited every day for an anime announcement for Undead Unluck, and when it was announced, MAN. I wouldn't stop pestering my friends about it. I'm so happy to see this series getting more attention and coverage. The video was GREAT, amazing job!
What really strong point of Undead Unluck is chara development.Literally every fcking chara in the manga especially in Union and Under get chara development. What a great journey, the manga started to really shine for me personally from the "4 Season" arc and still going strong until the recent chapter.Hope the anime going strong, get a good amount of attention worldwide so we can get season 2 even season after that.I really hope someday we get to see "4 Season" and "Ragnarok" arc animated. That's a really AVENGER level battle for manga
@@PlainTalkNoBS I maybe seems like Undead Unluck bootlicker but hell honestly it is just so good, their story writting in the "4 season" arc onward is really shining example how you write setup and payoff.Especially in 101st loop arc, they are really paying of what story so far about important member of Negator from Union and Under trauma/guilt,about how their Negator power manifesting bringing tragedy to them and people around them ONLY from their flashback or dialogue. And the writter cleverly use that to craft amazing "go back in time" story about Fuuko equipped the information from artifact trying to still let the Negator power manifesting but also trying to prevent the tragedy from happened.
Couldn't agree more about the beginning. I stuck with it after not really rocking with the start besides Shen, Fuuko and the power systems. Then with the Gina Arc (idk the official name), I was hooked.
I remember reading this manga when it came out up to when the unchange girl was introduced but stopped reading because of personal stuff. I was also planning on getting back to the manga after the anime too and man this analysis is really interesting
Single funniest description I have heard of Undead Unluck is "Teenage girl who kills with a touch and immortal man who wants to die team up with scp fundation to fight god"
The Spring Uma Arc was so emotional and moving we get to see an Uma who actually likes Humans and how God will force it’s will on those that don’t do what it wants
You couldn't have described the first half of the manga better. The only reason I stuck on till past the 100th loop is because I wanted to see different applications of negator powers like you pointed out in the video. Subbed
i picked up the series in November of 2020 after watching a video which ranked the various manga which were running in jump at the time and very quickly became interested in it. Shen particularly, being such an fun character of course. It wasn't till I had reached the shift in the plot when Galaxy was added that i really got hooked into being a hardcore supporter, i really hope that the upcoming anime gets more people interested, cus while i have gotten a handful of friends to pick it up, who all agree that the series is great. its criminally undervalued when compared to the series which have stronger ground ahead of it (i.e My Hero, JJK, etc.) The biggest hurdle of the series is how Andy treats Fuuko at the beginning and once we get past that its constantly makings leaps and strides to improve everything. Fuuko as solo protagonist has been honestly the most fun to follow and is an S tier female lead, which Jump needs more of.
Loved your video! You phrased everything so well! I love how this story grows and evolves, and makes you rethink earlier elements it introduced. I loved Void's re-introduction in the manga, and hearing you talk about it in this video made me love it even more. Thanks so much for this discussion, you made a lot of amazing points 💜 So hyped for the anime!!!
@@PlainTalkNoBS The only thing about this video I don't like is your little jab to JJK air deals was awesome dude and I'm totally going to finish checking out this Manga I was actually renamed but I stopped for a little bit. This video however has got me back interested
As someone who read all (178 as of this comment) chapters in about a week. It's been a banger the whole time, but the reset after witnessing game over has been peak.
I wouldn't ever call Udul mid maybe at the very very beginning but with each chapter and arc it grows and builds upon itself one of if not my favourite SJ reads of the last 3 or 4 years from the characters, world building, power system and call backs among other stuff this series is wicked awesome so great video and hope more people talk about Undead Unluck greatness
I've told so many people about how underrated this one is. It's not like so incredible that you should drop everything and read immediately, but it's such a fun and creative story and has oe of the most intersting application of abiliteies that I've ever seen in how creatively they use those powers and the larger purpose they serve. I really hope the anime does well so more people give it a chance, but considering is David Production who also do all the JoJo adaptations, it honestly seems like a perfect fit
Episode 5 almost had me in tears at Gena's fate, the ending with him giving her what she's desired for so long after capture Andy was heart felt, i'm already in love with the series and i really hope more raunchy action comes my way ... Thoroughly looking forward to more episodes and hopefully a season two.
Great video! Thoroughly explained the highlights and drawbacks of this series (even as it’s in progress) and you really got me hyped for the anime! I read a single chapter in a bookstore one time and thought, “This would be a fire anime one day”, now look where we are😁
this video deserves to go viral, so the series go viral, so the author goes viral, the anime adaptation goes viral and the overall virus of low attention spams dissapear, and more stories and projects get proper time to be developed and even if they flop, good things will be catch on the process, so the next idea goes harder and better!
Haven't read it since chapter 74 dropped for some reason and I recently went back, restarted back at chapter 9, and caught up in 2 days. Something I noticed was that I was way more excited and pumped for the 101st loop stuff than pre-ch125 stuff (aside from the Autumn and Summer arcs which made me cry when I first read them).
My friend recommended this to me back in late 2020 by just showing me the first page and saying that it starts there and never stops, and that was enough to convince me. It held true too, with the series rarely pumping the brakes. Now well into the 101st loop and I'm still loving every chapter, excitedly waiting each weekend for it to drop. For me this easily started A tier, but quickly moved up to S tier once I got deep into it. Easily my favorite currently running manga.
The ride Undead Unluck took me on was so worth these years, It's so hard not to love and be enthralled with all of the Negators. It really is satisfying and I'm so excited to see what the latest chapter is going to throw. I honestly hope that the anime can get picked up for more seasons because it'll be such an amazing experience. Also! UMA isn't supposed to be just all one word, it's an acronym for "Unidentified Mysterious Animal" similar to how people use UFO. It's used to describe strange creatures in media that have not yet been confirmed by science, they have mystical properties and supernatural abilities which perfectly match the reality bending concepts of the entities the world Undead Unluck has.
I was not at all interested in UU when I first heard about it. Then TH-cam shorts started showing me clips from some of the first few episodes. And I remember what caught me. Andy’s powers. Seeing how Andy played with his regeneration, the super jumping with high pressure blood, the leg spike, the fact he didn’t have a sheath for his god dang sword so he just kept the thing lodged in whatever part of his body was most convenient at the time. That’s what caught my interest. I went in with high expectations for Andy, and low expectations for Fuuko. I expected she’d be the Lucy type of protagonist. Technically a main character, occasionally useful, but mostly she’s just there and suffering. And honestly that isn’t entirely wrong. But from frame one Fuuko is extremely helpful, even when she has nothing in the way of capability. Almost everything Fuuko does helps in the long run. And with time, she becomes the lynch pin of everything. Without her, everyone’s lost already. I love the implication that past Fuuko’s in past loops all died that day on the ledge. Because adding that singular new element- Andy- is what gave us the piece we need for the negators to win. Not Undead, not Just unluck, but Fuuko freaking Izumo.
I decided to not read the manga because of the fanservice-y aspect of the manga but decided to stay because of the fight scenes I saw on Reddit. And ohhhh was I lucky to continue. The world building is amazing and packed but so easy to digest. I never liked complicated world building and power system but UndeadUnluck's system is so easy to understand but packs so much lore to it. I love 101th loop Fuuko's development. She's stronger and more determined but still maintains her kindness which I love. 10/10 would recommend.
This is deffinately my favorite new shounen series. I think it does what other great series do(like csm, hells paradise) but strays from it in the best way ever. All of them still have the usual shounen fights and training arcs, but the point arent the fights, its the story and the characters growing and developing. Im usually not a fan of romance, yet Fuukos relationship with Andy is o good im genuenly invested in it! Its power system is creative, it ties in with its characters personalities and motives and just rounds up to being an amazing series overall. Im not sure it will happen but im hopeful people will recognize the effort and care the author took with this series and give it the recognition it deserves. Such a good manga!
A lot of mangas released on shonen jump die so quickly and it sucks when you start a new manga and just know it'll have 20 chapters then be axed. When i read Undead Unluck i can't remember how i felt initially but I remember getting hyped from the gina fight and loving the Autumn Arc. This video was great well done
@@pp2475to be fair. Gintama is one of the best manga ever and it had a kinda slow first couple chapters. Also I'd much rather read undead unluck over berserk or vagabond since neither of those are gonna end.
I needed this video. I unintentionally stopped around chapter 86 bc I was swamped and it was hard getting back into it. I definitely need to catch up now!
The 100th loop saga is mostly Andy as Fuuko is still learning, and the 101st loop saga is mostly about Fuuko as Andy is busy holding back the master rules. That’s why I call them the undead saga and the unluck saga.
You're completely right, Fuuko isn't just some girl that sits beside the male character and sometimes contributes, she not only grows as much as Andy but she mixes her powers with her emotions that people would normally use as an excuse to hate on (mostly female)characters! She is the BEST female character in manga!
I agree with almost everything you said in the video! Undead Unluck just kept getting better as a manga as time went on. But i would say that the pivital moment for the character focused change wasn't the time loop and actually unknown, since hes intruduction in the autum arc the manga has been getting way mor attention and had skyrocketed in jumps popularity when hes arc was finished. After he's introduction and surprising sucsses Tozuka has started changing the way the narritive was being told to fit in more with what unknowns arc was like. The thing is that the changes start to pay off big AFTER the timeskip so you don't ntice them so much at first if you don't pay to much atention. Great video nonetheless!
Lol that intro aged like milk. Undead Unluck is crazy popular now, and I'm so glad because it's a FANTASTIC series. I'm anime-only right now, but I might start reading the manga after the first season wraps up.
I am the kind of person to immediately get hooked on a series, and Undead Unluck was very much a similar thing when I saw the first few episodes of it. A couple hours later and I’d read a bunch of the manga and it was the morning of the next day. Been looking forward to new episodes and chapters ever since.
I can't wait for the anime to drop. I've been reading this manga for a while and am really excited. I doubt that it'll Bryce all the way to loop 101 but I still want to see it try. I hope everyone who everyone this video will give undead unluck a try it is absolutely amazing and needs all the love and support it can Geer.
Fighto fuko fighto!! UU is really a hidden masterpiece...each chapter gets so interesting it was never mid, words cant describe my love for UU:) Thanks for the video
I think it was really just the first handful of chapters that weren’t incredible. As soon as Gina is introduced I fell in love with the manga and I’m so excited to see how people like the anime.
I gotta say, I first learned about this series from the anime popping up on my anime site, but I binged through the entire manga within a week, because it had me hooked. I always love the type of relationship that Andy and Fuuko have. So I’m excited to see what happens next!
You were right, I read this Manga while I was bored to death and enjoyed the story as I got even farther I started to love it even more and got more invested. I really wish this Manga get more recognized.
Honestly, the biggest problem with the series was the first few chapters/episodes where it leaned into the weird fanservice shit. It almost made me drop the series when I was trying it the first time, but I stuck with it and it has managed to become one of my current favourites. It's such a disservice to the series that the start is likely to drive away a ton of people before they can really get into the brilliance of the actual series.
I honestly hope we get a surprise and more people find this story now with the anime out there!! Because is a shame this story not being as well known as it deserves....
Undead Unluck truly is one of the fee series where the side cast is developed and the power system and fights are creative. Like in most manga, we mostly see hand to hand combat, magic focused combat, sword fighting, etc., but in this series we get a variety of fights like boxing, martial arts, fighting in a war, exploring space, etc., not to mention the unique and creative power system as well. Another strength of the manga is the change of setting. Like we always start a new arc with a fresh new setting which makes the arc more exciting. From all the anime and manga that I've watched and read, only JoJo's and Undead unluck have great changes in their settings.
I knew i had struck gold when the protagonists just joined the organisation and a new concept of alien races existing became real, i was like "holy fuck this shit is wild" especially with the battle that occurred
I love the fact that in exploring the world, they subsequently give more weight to the world's destruction and make you care more for the fight against god, making the eventual fight even more hype!
i must correct u, the ark DOESNT go ba k in time it allow the user of it to escape the earth destruction and be placed in the NEW loop so NOT time travel
Its cool that they took out Andy. Because when he comes back you know its gonna be hype. If im not mistaken then did this with Edward in FMA. Focused on everyone else and then fluidly bring him back in.
Personally already it’s amazing, the thought of unluck is just amazing. The dynamic between fuko and Andy to it’s like a perfect pair with amazing battles
For me, this became amazing when they met Unknown, ramped up there and never slowed down! It was always good, but definitely just keeps getting better!
i finished the anime last month and then decided to binge the entire manga after that in about 2 days. i find that unun (i prefer that abbreviation to udul) does a fantastic job at mixing all of the things it wants to bring to the table. first, it uses just about every remotely significant character to a decent degree. of course, it's not over yet, but as of right now (ch 220), the entire point of the second loop is to develop everyone that got lackluster screen time in the first one. if nothing else, the ones that haven't done much that are left are the ones that just rejoined the plot, so i think giving them some time is acceptable. second, it keeps a great blend between the action and character moments. every fight means something. whether it is two characters settling personal matters, an important reveal showing a lot about a character, or a major event in the overall plot, nothing feels padded or unnecessary. if something got dragged, it was never more than a tiny bit. third, it really goes all out with the power system. nothing feels like it came out of nowhere, it builds on what we knew at the start. i love it, the fights give off that beautiful jojo energy where the abilities are pushed to their absolute limit on the creativity. i didn't feel any drop the entire way, both in watching and reading. i was introduced with a fascinating ability system that only got more complex and interesting as the story progressed, and i liked the characters more as time passed as well. the overall plot kept me interested as well, and it handles raising the stakes in a very interesting way. the only other times i read past an anime and caught up were dr. stone and chainsaw man.
i agree that the 101st loop made the story improve a ton the 100th loop was still extreamly well written and had amazing arcs in it like the autum, spring and summer arcs
Honestly, I didn't care too much for the series; and for series like that I usually don't care about hearing spoilers about them, thus I decided to watch this whole video. YOU have convinced me to give this a read, I'll buy the first couple of volumes and watch the anime, you are 100% right, the latter half sounds so interesting and the concept of the power scaling sounds fun as hell!!!!
This series was great from the beginning, it was never mid as the Sooners would say. Great characters, cool powers and power system, amazing world building and captivating plot. It's easily one the best manga in shonen jump right now, maybe the best.
The author definitely gets better at handling Andy's character as the story progresses. I look forward to seeing what happens when he finally returns to the series!
i agree with your reasoning completely. I've been reading since it premiered and though i have always loved the series, since the fight against God and the 101 loop, it has become one of my most anticipated weekly reads. As a big fan of large casts, the current focus on recontextualizing every single negator we met previously regardless of ally/enemy or their previous screentime has been absolutely incredible and is focusing on the thing I have wanted from so many series and have fallen short on, giving each side character their moment in the sun. In its current iteration, the series really fills a specific niche that I adore. I mostly read and don't watch a lot of anime, but the coming seasons I am actually highly anticipating between this and Dungeon Meshi
0:40 I won't take this JJK slander to my face. The current story of JJK is easily equaling (if not surpassing) that of the Shibuya Incident. The biggest fight in the series is currently happening ffs
Here's the harsh truth. The Death Game Arc was a convoluted mess where the author kept adding too many quirks to both the game itself and to many abilities. To argue JJK hasn't declined would require you selecting a previous arc that you think is lower quality than the Death Game. As for where it currently is at, the series is cashing in on fight that was teased from chapter 2. To give a comparable example, think Naruto's Great Ninja War Arc and the final battle between Naruto and Sasuke. The arc was bad but was somewhat forgotten because the fight that was built up for so long that it helped readers forget about the Ninja War arc.
@@PlainTalkNoBS I don't think increasing the complexity of abilities as a series goes on is a bad thing. As for the culling game itself its not too complicated. There are barriers around Japan if you choose to stay your in the game. You couldn't leave the barrier and you get points for killing another person. JJK fights have been consistently good. which is probably why Juiz despite going through 100 loops was never able to reach her goal of killing god, which is kind of ironic if you think about it.
@@cloutan2746 unlike Juiz who pretty much played it safe, Fuuko is more willing to take risk and gambles that will give the world the best results.
Haha! Reddit isn’t the best with cancellation predictions :)
@@PlainTalkNoBSI heard of that news back then. It wasn't reddit that came up with it, but some Twitter account that's considered a reputable source on SJ manga. I think it also had something to do with colour pages.
I remember each volume being the last one every ch since the loop
"Unfold" heh
@@randomduck8679It's because SJ has a ranking system by reader popularity named 掲載順, and if a manga stays in the last few or so for too long, it will get cancelled. And Undead Unluck did wander around the last pretty often but always managed to get back up right after with a twist or a fantastic battle.
Honestly the meteor never left me hoping for something more epic I was just interested in what unluck would generate against someone. The randomness kept me hooked
Yeah dude kept harping on that like it was the end all be all
Absolutely, I was really intrigued in the potential of Unluck
Did the opposite for me tbh, I just started to see the formula right away and just felt like every fight was going the same way just replace whatever nonsense beats the villain with some other thing
@@Gravecoyotewell if you generalize action manga into "fight ends in some way" yes that indeed ruins anything that story has to offer
Glad you enjoy it!
Same here same here
Btw exactly the same happend also to me with tower of God... now season 2 is out rolling
Shit I love them both 😁💪🏾👍🏾✌🏾
The concepts are presented great, the worldbuilding is amazing, and the charatcer development, and the multiple callbacks to the beginning make this manga an extreme obvious masterpiece to anyone who gives it 10 chapters, and especially anyone who keeps going -_-. It doesn’t start bad, it starts questionable in 1 spot and grows past it, this video generalizes and makes it sound worse. Masterpiece
I'm glad you're so passionate about Undead Unluck :)
I was reading it week by week and dropped it at around chapter 110 last year. It has some good parts but most of it is just a drag to read

I love your passion for Undead Unluck :)
Special moves in shonen series often becomes repetitive and stagnated after used many times and often relied on new forms or levels to become stronger, while in Undead Unluck the negators becomes stronger by creativity and personal resolve
not even that it always is something new, it can just be the same thing but the author makes it work in a different way wich is what makes it so great
god , fuuko being a able to do a " bad road " and spread out her unluck across multiple small occurrences instead of one having one single large stroke of unluck happen was such a fucking cool evolution. And it was a callback to Spring where she had done a miniature version through her repeatedly touching Spring which led to multiple strikes of stunning , but non lethal, lightning strikes
I really hope more people find this series it's so awesome
Agreed! :)
Agreed as well!
I’m so glad I found it I’m a little late but even the first episode of the anime has got me hooked

Btw Tower of God..... Fu*kin awesome also
I was recommended this manga by an online friend in the MHA fandom when the most recent chapter was chapter 16.
Glad to hear that you're spreading the word about how good Undead Unluck is :)
Is the so called "questionable" part the groping? Lol.
@@c.d.mont.3281 I don’t think I said “questionable” in my comment. But no, because most of that stuff is gone after the first few chapters. More so there is stuff surrounding a character called Billy that doesn’t make a great deal of sense when you first read it but does later on.
@@gardenshed6043 got it. Also the roping was cool
@@c.d.mont.3281 I disagree on that front. But it made sense considering who the characters were in Chapter 1.
I agree that Uma Galaxy is amazing. The idea that all the stars in the universe is just tied to a single rule is so cool!
The character development, especially in the 101st loop, is so good!
The Gina Arc early on was definitely a sign that good things were possible!
I remember reading this manga when it came out up to when the unchange girl was introduced but stopped reading because of personal stuff. I was also planning on getting back to the manga after the anime too and man this analysis is really interesting
I hope you find the time to get back to it!
Single funniest description I have heard of Undead Unluck is "Teenage girl who kills with a touch and immortal man who wants to die team up with scp fundation to fight god"
Never mid, needed time to cook
I respect your love for the series!
Subbed
Thanks for the sub :) The negator powers are so creative!
Having just watched the first episode of the Anime, I can safely bet this one wont be overlooked, its an absolute banger...
That kind of funny considering people want to cancel the anime
@@damonlam9145no they don't, they just don't like the groping which makes sense, not liking something doesn't mean its getting "cancelled"
i picked up the series in November of 2020 after watching a video which ranked the various manga which were running in jump at the time and very quickly became interested in it. Shen particularly, being such an fun character of course. It wasn't till I had reached the shift in the plot when Galaxy was added that i really got hooked into being a hardcore supporter, i really hope that the upcoming anime gets more people interested, cus while i have gotten a handful of friends to pick it up, who all agree that the series is great. its criminally undervalued when compared to the series which have stronger ground ahead of it (i.e My Hero, JJK, etc.)
The biggest hurdle of the series is how Andy treats Fuuko at the beginning and once we get past that its constantly makings leaps and strides to improve everything.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Void's re-introduction was so well done. I've probably read those chapters 15 to 20 times. Just so amazing!

undead unluck is just so enjoyable and fun with such solid character writing, it feels like a 10/10 8/10 series of that makes sense

@PlainTalkNoBS Hell yeah, and just subbed to you gonna check out your Akane Banashi video next
That sun arc was incredible tho
Episode 5 almost had me in tears at Gena's fate, the ending with him giving her what she's desired for so long after capture Andy was heart felt, i'm already in love with the series and i really hope more raunchy action comes my way ... Thoroughly looking forward to more episodes and hopefully a season two.
what made me hook was andy's true past and how each of their power can be used in a unique way if your good enough
Fuukkos character development has been the best I’ve seen in a longggg time
Great video! Thoroughly explained the highlights and drawbacks of this series (even as it’s in progress) and you really got me hyped for the anime! I read a single chapter in a bookstore one time and thought, “This would be a fire anime one day”, now look where we are😁
This series really deserves being hyped for. The story the actions the fights the characters everything is perfect
this video deserves to go viral, so the series go viral, so the author goes viral, the anime adaptation goes viral and the overall virus of low attention spams dissapear, and more stories and projects get proper time to be developed and even if they flop, good things will be catch on the process, so the next idea goes harder and better!
I feel in LOVE after just the first two episodes! This series is so underrated. And it's peak comedy/epicness.
The newest fight genuinely might be my favorite in the whole series. I just love nico and the word game they play is incredibly creative
Bro me to I read that part today
I love how Feng can’t stand on his cloud anymore, as it is the opposite of Kinto-Un. He is literally becoming nicer
This is like Kinnikuman. Starts off mid and becomes amazing.

I'm glad I was able to help :)
The 100th loop saga is mostly Andy as Fuuko is still learning, and the 101st loop saga is mostly about Fuuko as Andy is busy holding back the master rules. That’s why I call them the undead saga and the unluck saga.
I’m gonna say it, and I don’t care who disagrees with me. Fuuko Izumo is the Greatest Female Character in manga, and hopefully (God Willing) Anime.
The outfit comment made me immediately think about Anima++. Amazing art in that series, and the artist draws fantastically varied outfits.
I've never heard about Anima++ before. I might have to check it out :)
andy is basically sato but with main-characterness and plot armor
Lol that intro aged like milk. Undead Unluck is crazy popular now, and I'm so glad because it's a FANTASTIC series. I'm anime-only right now, but I might start reading the manga after the first season wraps up.
I am the kind of person to immediately get hooked on a series, and Undead Unluck was very much a similar thing when I saw the first few episodes of it.
A couple hours later and I’d read a bunch of the manga and it was the morning of the next day.
Been looking forward to new episodes and chapters ever since.

I hope everyone who everyone this video will give undead unluck a try it is absolutely amazing and needs all the love and support it can Geer.
It would be so nice if they made it to the 101st loop but you are right, it's unlikely to get there.

Hopefully someday it will get the recognition it deserves!
Because is a shame this story not being as well known as it deserves....
ive been a undead unluck fan for about a year and a half and its been so fire since
This feels like what medaka box was trying to do but less convoluted
Unironically, I started this series because I liked the character designs that I saw on the covers, took a gamble, and here I am, keeping up weekly
You're right. I read the first chapter of this and felt basically nothing. I'm glad it does seem to get better.
Everything after chapter 110 is genuinely amazing
IT WAS NEVER MID YOU PLEB!!!
J/k (at the pleb part)
I got hooked at chapter 1 so hard agree
I love the fact that in exploring the world, they subsequently give more weight to the world's destruction and make you care more for the fight against god, making the eventual fight even more hype!
i must correct u, the ark DOESNT go ba k in time
it allow the user of it to escape the earth destruction and be placed in the NEW loop
so NOT time travel
I’m sold on the start I’m going to take your word for it and read without spoiling chapter 125 for myself. Great video.
Its cool that they took out Andy. Because when he comes back you know its gonna be hype. If im not mistaken then did this with Edward in FMA. Focused on everyone else and then fluidly bring him back in.
Taking out Andy is such a bold and amazing choice. I agree that his return will be SO HYPE!
Personally already it’s amazing, the thought of unluck is just amazing. The dynamic between fuko and Andy to it’s like a perfect pair with amazing battles
I loved the part where mr unloop said Its loopin time and Looped all over the place
LOL
For me, this became amazing when they met Unknown, ramped up there and never slowed down! It was always good, but definitely just keeps getting better!
Bro idk if I’m weird but I loved this series from chapter one
Same! 😆
i finished the anime last month and then decided to binge the entire manga after that in about 2 days. i find that unun (i prefer that abbreviation to udul) does a fantastic job at mixing all of the things it wants to bring to the table. first, it uses just about every remotely significant character to a decent degree. of course, it's not over yet, but as of right now (ch 220), the entire point of the second loop is to develop everyone that got lackluster screen time in the first one. if nothing else, the ones that haven't done much that are left are the ones that just rejoined the plot, so i think giving them some time is acceptable. second, it keeps a great blend between the action and character moments. every fight means something. whether it is two characters settling personal matters, an important reveal showing a lot about a character, or a major event in the overall plot, nothing feels padded or unnecessary. if something got dragged, it was never more than a tiny bit. third, it really goes all out with the power system. nothing feels like it came out of nowhere, it builds on what we knew at the start. i love it, the fights give off that beautiful jojo energy where the abilities are pushed to their absolute limit on the creativity.
i didn't feel any drop the entire way, both in watching and reading. i was introduced with a fascinating ability system that only got more complex and interesting as the story progressed, and i liked the characters more as time passed as well. the overall plot kept me interested as well, and it handles raising the stakes in a very interesting way. the only other times i read past an anime and caught up were dr. stone and chainsaw man.
I dropped this pretty early but this video intrigued me and after watching i think ill pick it back up
I'm glad you're going to give it a second chance :)
Amazing video! You just convinced me to start this series, thank you for the great recommendation!
Mc with regeneration lets you do so much things with it
Absolutely though sometimes it can be a lazy power as well. In the case of Undead Unluck, they do a really good job with it.
i agree that the 101st loop made the story improve a ton the 100th loop was still extreamly well written and had amazing arcs in it like the autum, spring and summer arcs
This is basically reincarnation arc done so beautifully
Honestly, I didn't care too much for the series; and for series like that I usually don't care about hearing spoilers about them, thus I decided to watch this whole video. YOU have convinced me to give this a read, I'll buy the first couple of volumes and watch the anime, you are 100% right, the latter half sounds so interesting and the concept of the power scaling sounds fun as hell!!!!
This series was great from the beginning, it was never mid as the Sooners would say. Great characters, cool powers and power system, amazing world building and captivating plot. It's easily one the best manga in shonen jump right now, maybe the best.
Surely one of my favourite female leads in manga tbh. Maybe not since the start but sometime when she went into Andy's memories.
I find the beggining, like, the first 6 ch, awful because how Andy treated Fuuko, but suddenly he changes and the story just became amazing
Hikari vs Kashimo was hype as hell and had no build up.
@@tgclericoll572 the panel where hakari juste hit his jackpot and start hyping himself up and kashimo responds in kind was one of the greatest panel I ever laid my eyes on
Which is exactly why I skipped that part. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I can assume that his criticism was really constructive, you were warned about a controversial opinion coming.
You Will fall in love with these characters
And the powers are geniuenly creative
I was hooked from chapter 1. I find myself more interested in UU than One Piece some weeks its that good to me
UU is the modern one piece imo
A worthy successor (even tho, one piece might outlive it too xD)
@@muguiwaranoboy2542I think Edens Zero fits that description better
@@DeBean970you mean fairy tail V2 ?

@@DeBean970I see, o should try it out and read it
since the realese of the first chapter of the anime, I knew this was a series worth watching, so worthtyt that I read the entire manga in 2 days, now I am part of that small community and I love it
I was amazed by the anime. I'm trying very hard not to read the manga (to avoid spoilers). I will read the manga as soon as the anime finales.
god and the best part is, all of these new character recruitment chapters are going to be *amazing* episodes. Just imagine the martial arts tournament, and then a school arc. It's gonna be so much fun.
