- One of traditional way to drink sake is from wooden box called Masu. The wooden cup "Masu" is usually used for drinking sake at a celebration in Japan. It is considered auspicous and denotes "prosperity" because of a Japanese phrase, "masu-masu", which means "more and more". With a hint of wood, Masu can also enrich the flavors of sake.

Yes and if you ask politely they'll give you more sake and more boxes
We should’ve asked one box pp😆Sake tastes better too👍🏻
It is to show their utmost hospitality, generosity to the guest. It is telling the host is generous in giving.
Then I guess drinking it from the box after is also to show appreciation ?
@@Ddon98801 It's a way to say Thank You in silence.
Thanks for sharing one of the traditional Japanese customs. MASU is absolutely not easy to drink, but we can enjoy the smell of wood drinking Sake.

Did you really make this video without knowing the reason for the box? Or how common this service method is in Japan (traditional, but not common)? It's not even usually a glass in a box; a box on a saucer is more common. I'm disgusted with your lack of knowledge of the subject matter you're making videos about.
no we didnt know - but thanks for your comment. hope you have a happy day.
Your they type of person that would unironically spend your life's savings to drink kuchikame sake
You must be fun at parties
I'm disgusted that you breathe the same air as normal people
Im genuinely sorry that you are miserable enough to be a dick to strangers in some sort of desperate hope to be happy.
