This video, particularly that first match, reminded me of someone fun my LGS a decade ago. He always signed up for Modern events with standard power level decks. But whenever he was ahead, he would be giggling the whole time. If he won a game, he would be ecstatic. If he won a match! That would make his whole week! That dude had more fun playing magic than I knew was possible
I remember building a Ponza/Wildfire deck with Magnivore as a finisher back when 9th edition came out because that was literally the theme of the red preconstructed deck. I used Stone Rains, Icefalls from Coldsnap, Demolishes and a few sorcery-speed burn spells like Lava Spike and Volcanic Hammer. The point was to control the game until you reached 6 mana, cast Magnivore and seal the deal with Wildfire. It was a bit annoying to play against, but it packed a punch in casual tables.
Uno de los primeros mazos que arme cuando empecé a jugar premodern era un rgu con magnivoro, y con el azul tenía guided passage, juego de manos y portent... La base de mana era media caotica
@@fpawluszmtg One of the things I like the most about premodern is that almost every "cool" card seems to be genuinely playable. Not necessarily amazing, but there's often a way you can cook with them to make a quasi-competitive and interesting deck.
Yes, there's already a strictly better version of this deck, which is one of the 3 best decks in the format. This is a list optimized for fun rather than competitivity, haha
@@maxzakh I mean, to be honest Pardic Miner seems just too bad a card for the context of Premodern. I hope you can make it work, though, cause it sounds hella sweet!
@@fpawluszmtg I just got to the end of the video and yeah I came to the same conclusion with the blue and green one as well. Will say it was fun in g/w tron but not something I'd take to an actual tourny. Great video btw, you're a blessing to the premodern community
@@DreLeila I do them when I can. I make these videos 100% for fun (not for money) and they take quite a bit of time to make. I can only devote so much time to them, unfortunately.
Are there two cards to the right of Magnivore in the deck tech? I only count 58 cards total, but MTGO says 60. Edit: I see in the video at 8:25, the other two cards are two copies of Slice and Dice.
Yeah, I guess I forgot to move the Slice and Dice into the picture when I was doing the deck tech. When in doubt you can always find a link to the decklist in the description of the video.
@@fpawluszmtg Thanks for the tip! Love your content, especially this video. You were so excited to make some of those cool plays and it really came out!
Playing any non-Magnivore creatures in the Oath deck is a no-no from me. We could play Mox Diamond, but the point of this deck was to make a budge friendly/more casual version of RG Oath.
Not really. That card is just too cute and doesn't actually do anything against most decks. Even against Replenish they can Attunement/Frantic Search and Replenish in the same turn, so it just doesn't work. The whole concept of a Wish package is just wishful thinking (pun intended).

That is EXACTLY the vibe I was going for with this video, hahaha. Playing this deck gave me a lot of that experience, it was awesome

Some cards really call you to brew with them, and both Magnivore and Wildfire are such cards
Always a pleasure to watch your videos! I'm officially a fan 🎉
Thank you!
Love it 😍
It was a fun one!
Wildfire and Biorhythm in the same game was so cool.
I know, that match was something!
I once tried to make Guided Passage work as the way to get my Magnivores. Oath is looking a lot better hahah.
Guided Passage is such a cool card and sweet design, but in Premodern that mana cost really is prohibitive, unfortunately...

Finally a new video!!
It's been a while, but here we are, still kicking!
This is good for my soul
I think you'll find it enjoyable.
Oh my can't wait to watch this video. Any thought of a SB Plow Under?
@@XxSHARKMANxX I thought of plow under while watching this! Could be awesome imo. I felt like the list needs an Assault // Battery somewhere too
I could see that for sure, especially when we inevitably end up cutting Burning Wishes :P
I made a deck almost 1 to 1 on this one months ago, but I used Assault/Battery instead of Firebolts
Assault/Battery is a cool one that was in my initial lists. It's one of the cards I could see myself adding after cutting Wishes.
Spicy Oath of Ghouls!
That deck was 🔥🔥🔥

@@btrbt8613 The term "brewer's paradise" gets thrown around a lot. Premodern is the only format that accurately fits that description.
Elves opponent literally had everything. So frustrating when matches turn out that way.
Yeah, Fer really drew above average, but that deck is capable of drawing like that, so it is what it is!
I'm a simple man. I see ponza, I click.
You get it
I'm building this only because of the one of hammer of bogardan
Hahaha I know, I couldn't help myself 😂

Thoughts on Pardic Miner to further slow down opponents?
I'm not interesting in Oathing into any non-Magnivore creature, so that really limits the alternatives.
@@fpawluszmtg it would definitely be a slightly different build, maybe BR with reanimation

For optimization over spice, would you keep the wish package still?
No, I'd cut it. Also if I were optimizing I'd just play RG Oath, with Diamonds and overall a much better deck 😅
