    1:30 that was a tough knuckler to handle. but it was a clean strike. just shows that framing a pitch often works. presenting a pitch as a strike to the umpire is crucial. part of the reason why yadi molina has been the best catcher for the better part of the last ten years.

    I'd sware that pitch from Cole at 3:40 is actually breaking *upwards* (and to the right) just as it gets to the plate. Which I've read in places is supposed to be basically impossible to do with an overhand pitch.

    • @EonArashi
      @EonArashi 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a combo of the arm-side run, the spin on the ball, and the camera angle. If you viewed it from the side, it would either look like a straight line or that it's dropping *very* little. But throwing overhand, it's 100% not possible for a human being. Not with a baseball, at any rate. It's possible with wiffle balls, though.

      Most pitchers start with a fastball low and they climb the ladder meaning pitch higher and higher in the strike zone, once they have a pitchers count like 2-2 or 0-2 they move to their put away pitch which is a pitch they throw maybe 14% of the time. For most pitchers its a slider or curve and other pitchers its a high 90s fastball.
