I couldn’t agree with you more. Fox had become a fashion trend and no longer has the motocross community as a top priority. The community that made their name what it is. No longer a FOX supporter.
Funny i've had tons of fox apparel hell even my email has been foxracer since early 2000 from AOL days. There stuff wasnt trendy and good now its trendy and trash. Sucks but glad we have options.
All my gear in past was Fox now not a chance have same thing pair of pants that lasted 3 rides before rips in them. The community is tight and everyone shares their experiences it's only a matter of time until sales go to crap and company goes under. If I am ever in a store and see people looking at gear I speak up and tell them it's crap and just to watch a video or two online. Dealers need to just pull them out of their stores and then company will learn or go out of business
Fox is a family owned company. I believe they own Shift gear as well. I used to only buy Fox gear. 360 was the top of the line pants. The pants that your showing are they from the 360 line or are they from the cheaper 180 line? I too wear Klein these days. I’ve tried the new popular fasthouse gear but it too feels thin in the Protection department. I think Fly racing gear as far as performance is where Fox use to be. Sad!
One thing i've learnt with overseas products, it's not about the "country" that makes them, its about the quality assurance who approves "its good enough" for the market. Somewhere in Fox's team, someone saw the quality of these products, saw the testing and results and then said, "yep, how much money do we save? Good enough, sell it to our customers". That person/team is responsible for the quality drop.
Right on. There's nothing wrong with going to Asia for production. But some people cut costs until there's nothing left and those people DONT RIDE MOTORCYCLES. Maybe they should make mr quality assurance walk around the office with the ass of his pants stitched the same way
@clandestine2178 Pretty disgusting when you consider the consequences. I could give less fucks if my 10 dollar toaster breaks after 2 months... but having your boots split open or your helmet rust out when you're 600kms of gnarly off road from anything and you are in SERIOUS trouble if not already injured. You get what you pay for these days I suppose.. i'll be sticking to Klim gear until i hear otherwise.
Exactly it. Some FANTASTIC quality products come out of China. It's all about the stamp of approval the brand puts on it. In other words, you get what you pay for. If the company wats to spend very little to produce a product, then the Chinese factory will find a way to make it for that price.
There’s huge things wrong with selling your country out for a cheaper product made in China. I’d rather pay more for a quality product made in my own country than a garbage product made in China
Dude, I don't think you've ever looked this passionate about a negative turn a product has taken. I appreciate your honesty and I hope Fox will take measures to "right the ship" before they go into an unrecoverable tail spin. Awesome video.
I think Fox is sinking, but people who don't know better are still buying the gear and apparel and keeping them from going under. Fox gear looks great and is really eye catching, but it literally falls apart. I had several seams on several riding pants open up from just normal riding! That is totally unacceptable!
I have had the exact same experience. I have stuff I bought 8 yrs ago and still run it from time to time. MSR has served me well for the money and honestly I feel it is way better quality than the current fox iterations.
Kyle, I couldn’t agree more and they absolutely have went down hill. The two shops I purchase from locally say the same thing. Great video and keep up the great work.
I agree 100%! I blew out a seam on my first ride with Fox 360 pants. I sewed it up and blew out 2 more seams on my second ride! I've had the same thing happen with several Fox 180 pants.I'm a recreational rider on a mx track with no serious falls. I'm done with Fox!
I love these types of videos especially when I’m constantly looking for new and more riding gear just because and these help me decide generally I go with fly. I love them they are comfy and fit me right
Yup. Same here. Bought all new Fox gear two years ago. Pants are ripped, not from crashing, roost guard broken (shoulder pads poorly designed and broke off, not during a crash), my boots are totally worn out and two buckles are broken. I'm in the process of replacing everything and none of it is Fox. Great and honest review. Hopefully Fox listens and betters their practices. That would be the mature thing to do.
The mature and right thing to do is to bring your production back to your own country, regardless if you need to charge a little bit more for your product
Kyle has always taken the high road when it comes to reviews over the years. He won't review something if he has nothing good to say. The fact that he came out on a rant speaks volumes about how Fox has gone downhill. Glad to know I'm not the only one having these same experiences with there gear lately.
Love it that you called them out. I refuse to buy Fox anything because the last pant and jersey I got fell apart in 3 months. Agree that their old stuff was great
I have heard the same elsewhere. My 10-year old Klim gear still in great shape. Definitely a quality difference. Same with my 10-year old Alpinestars Tech 7s - can’t kill them. Good on you for calling them out.
I have had brand new FOX gear start to fall apart after 2 weeks and the distributor in New Zealand refuses to warranty these pants. I have had another set of Thor pants that I have been using for 20 years and just yesterday had a massive enduro with them. They are still holding up fine. The FOX products nowadays is the same quality as the counterfeit products on Aliexpress but they charge top dollar.
The 5 people who disliked this video work for fox... I went through 3 pairs of instincs in a half of season. I blasted them so hard online after they said the damage was my fault. I had so many people say they had the same issues. I then finally got a phone call back from fox and they replaced my boots. They said they had a meeting about the quality. That was 3 years ago haha.
This is sad to hear.. I have a older pair of Fox pants that have held up great. But I've lost weight since then and was looking to get a smaller pair. I will for sure hold off on my purchase now. Step it up Fox.
@@crosstrainingenduro wasnt it shortly after you publicly questioned Fox on their quality that your TH-cam channel was mysteriously shut down briefly? How long untill they get Kyle shut down after this rant? (a well warrented rant btw) lol
Thank you for your honesty. The consumer should appreciate your honest feedback. I just bought a pair of Fox 180 boots which I have not used yet due to waiting for a left hip replacement. They are the first pair of boots I have bought as I had purchased my first motocross bike (new 2018 Yamaha WR 250F in August 2019). Hope i'm happy with them. Enjoy your channel. All the best, take care Kyle 🏁
bought (expensive) fox legion pants and jacket...right away notice reflective material coming off after one wash and dont get me started on abrasion resistance. What can you do when a company decides to produce in China to maximize their profit at our expenses... Went back to KLIM quality products. Also note KLIM warranty is the best by far in the industry.
So many brands get big and sell and then it’s all about paying their employees as little as possible while ceos and others take as much profit as they can. Quality of the product doesn’t matter to them because they’re too big and well known to fail, they figure.
100% agree. Back in the day when I couldn't afford Fox I wish I had some of their quality gear. Now, later down the road, when I can afford it - I am not impressed what-so-ever. Not supporting Fox anymore!
This is what happens when you hire outside bean-counters for Senior Management positions (CEO, CFO, etc.). They don't understand the product (widgets to them), and have zero history with the company. The book-smart, bean-counters understand "widgets" and "profit margins" but they have never ridden a dirt bike, nor do they ever want to. They quickly destroy the long-earned reputation of the company by using inferior materials and offshore manufacturing to improve the bottom line. By the time their destructive actions are found out (e.g., ripped garments, buckles falling off), they're off to implement their destructive talents at the next company. I'm not sure that this is actually going on at FOX, but I've seen it happen at companies that I've worked at. Companies rarely promote from within any more.
I totally agree. Funny enough, my uncle was an outside bean counter brought into help Fox through some changes probably 17 (+/-) years ago. While I don't know the ins and outs of what he did there (I was around 13 y/o at the time), it would seem they kept the quality standards high. I have pair of Fox pants from that time period that I wore the crap out of for years, and my wife now wears on the odd occasions that she rides. I still have a couple enduro jackets in use from back then as well. A lot has changed since then and so many brands just want to make sleek trendy stuff to show off in instagram pics, without regard for quality. As long as people buy it, they don't care. I am now a bean counter myself and when I hear talks of a reputable manufacturer looking to cut corners or move production to low cost regions, I just cringe. Hope Fox turns this around, I've been hearing a lot of complaints lately.
@@thomasturnbull8770 When I rode in the late 70's and 80's, FOX was about the only game in town. Now, there are several other companies vying for the same dirt-bike gear market. There may be some growth in dirt bike riding, but the real growth is in side-by-sides, which don't seem to use a lot of riding gear. They have probably off-shored manufacturing and designed in some obsolescence, so the gear has to be replaced with the newest model every year or two. I guess the old adage rings true that, "you get what you pay for."
Hey Kyle I am 51 yrs old been using fox gear all my life.. my favorite gear until about 2-3 yrs ago I just had enough of wasted $ every fox product I have purchased lasted so long. but when it started to be manufactured in China it fell apart so fast.. stitching blows out on gloves after like 2-3 rides.. didn’t even get them wet. Boots failing...pants and shirts failing..I agree materials are not as durable..and most of all quality of workmanship is way off.. it’s all high dollar made in china junk now.. very upsetting for the $ spent.. but then again most made in China crap fails very quickly no matter what the product .. it’s sad !!!
I agree totally!!! Fox instinct boot fell apart on the sole after 6 months, weekend rides (24 rides!!!!!!) when i tried to ask what to do for a resole, nada...... Fox kit 180... crap falls apart straight away, too thin, leather inner knees wear through after no time at all! Honestly, you cannot say anymore that FOX is a high quality brand.....
100% agree. Been riding for 20 years now. Stopped buying fox anything the last 8 years. All they are is good looks and advertising. Love the channel man
Interesting. I had FOX back in the late 80's and early 90's, the quality was outstanding and lasted forever. Fast forward to 2006-2008 and I bought FOX gear again, but the quality went in the toilet. It was 100% garbage and didn't last. I gave up on FOX and haven't gone back. The gear fell apart on me. Gloves would last a ride or two and be blown out. I bought a FOX MTB jersey around the same time and it was HORRIBLE. The material they used was super hot, sticky and didn't breath. For a company I once loved, I'll never go back.
Grew up watching Bubba in Fox so I was a fan. Lately been leaning away from them also. Bought a pair of Fox Comp R boots. $250 and the bottom buckle won’t even lock. This video was much needed. Wish I could afford that replica LE James Stewart zebra striped gear yrs ago. Now that was worth the money.
Another dissatisfied fox customer, for many years the gear they try to pass off is JUNK, even my fox boots. I broke a buckle, and couldn't get a replacement on a brand new pair of boots.I refuse to wear ANYTHING that says fox on it..I have a pair of 25 year old Alpinestar boots.NEVER had an issue. Thanks for the honesty
Completely agree. I've always been a fox guy, but the past few things I've purchased from them, have been poor quality. Bought a pair of fox dirt paws gloves, and both gloves split from the seems in two rides.
I actually have a unique perspective on this. I purchased my first bike in 10 years this summer, aka i haven't bought pants in about 12-14 years because pants used to always last. Jerseys i always had 5 or 6 in the trunk to stay dry between rides and they would get torn up decently quick. When i went to purchase new gear i was absolutely shocked with modern pants. I thought maybe it was just 1 brand so i tried on about a dozen pairs of pants across many brands (fly, msr, fox, thor, axo) and ALL OF THEM were nothing like pants we used to buy. i tried on one pair from a brand i won't specify and i just said nope! these aren't safe. i can't imagine them having any burn protection if the bike pins my leg. So thin if i took a slide a few feet back down a hill at low speed i think i'd skin my knee through them. And i'm not going to say one brand was worth than the other, they were almost all pitiful. I respect the effort they've put into gear now being thinner and lighter than scratchy shredded heavy cotton blankets like my hand me down gear was when i was kid, but wow. The closeout MSR pants were the heaviest things i could find in the store, so i got them, and thank god they were cheap, because i don't see them lasting more than half a season of riding. If maybe a company were paying attention to the market and made quality protective pants you can't see through again and reasonably priced them, they could make a killing in the weekend warrior market just saying.
Totally agree with you, my Shot riding gear (low tier price) that I got for many years is less worn out than my few months old top tier FOX gears (180 & 360)... Regarding boots, Gaerne has a really good price for value and seams to be one of the last brand not moving to China for production (even if it doesn't mean much, quality control can be as good there as it is in USA / Italy etc).
Spot on! My old man still uses his Fox gear he got back in 2003 with his brand new bike. It's only got 1 rip where some stitching come undone. I got some new crap last year and on the second ride ripped stitching out in the pants. But haven't had any problems with my instinct boots yet. Just waiting for them to fail also.
Man I feel you I've been a Fox fanboy since I was a teenager 15 years ago doing DH Mtb, I started Enduro riding this year and got a kit and a pair of Instinct boots. I broke the first strap within the first 3 ride and broke a second one few month later, neither of the straps were damaged where they cracked, from such and expensive pair of boots I wasn't impressed. As for the kit the fit is good and I haven't had too many issues with it, I appreciate the very stretchy and breathable materials used and know this comes to the price of longevity but again I have put roughly 40h in my 180deg pant and it still looks fresh. Now the gloves are another story, many blown stitches, the palms got worned out fairly quickly too and that's 2 pairs I bought with the kit that have seen use in Bmx and Mtb too but not that many hours, meanwhile I still have my very first pair from the early 2000's that are in mint shape aside from the faded colors. Big let down but this is typical when familly owned business get bought by finance corporate suits. Set the quality to garbage, make maximum profit, once the image of the company is destroyed dur to the products not being what they used to be but still sold at a premium then get rid of your shares and move on to the next company to suck dry ...
Kyle, I agree! I've bought fox gear since the 90's and the latest Legion gear I bought is total crap compared to my older gear. I hope Fox listens to the people and makes better products. Thanks for all your videos!
Completely agree with you, Kyle! Same problems. Bought new gear from fox and they simply busted out, pants. Also I have a pair of pants from back 2014 and they are bullet proof. Don’t quite understand how they make them anymore.Bought a new pair of fox instinct and they have the same problems. The buckles, the sole etc. hopefully they resolve these issues and start making quality stuff all around.
About time someone called Fox out on this. I never owned Fox years ago so can't say, but I did buy a few items back in 2018. Pants and boots. Bought them online thinking that Fox had a stellar reputation. Pants look so cheap and now are worn out in the seat and I need to replace after just a few seasons. Boots felt cheap and did not seem to provide much protection. Sold them a few months back and got some good Alpinestars tech 10s. No more Fox garbage for me .....ever again! Thanks for doing this video Kyle.
I agree also. I purchased a pair of Fox OTB pants two years ago and have rode six or eight times with them. First or second ride I ripped a hole in the rear-end but it probably was not the pants fault. I had it professionally fixed but not the crotch soon ripped on the inside, the small tooth zipper on the leg is now broken and there are many many little holes in that flexible material like you shown.
Totally agree. I was an all Fox gear guy for years, since I was a kid. About 3 years ago I noticed the same thing, now I only wear Klim. I haven’t been able to wear the Klim gear out yet! I just buy new to get the new colors 😜
I've got myself a pair of fox Comp boots. Maybe 120h of mixed trail use, about 8 months. It looks worse now than a pair of alpinestar Tech 3's I've had for over 3 years, it feel slike it's gonna fall completely apart anytime now. Keep up the nice work, cheers from Brazil.
With 10year+ old gear in my closet from fly racing and One Industries I know that the older gear was heavy, but much more durable!! I rode in my one industries gear for years and the gear held up without ripping or issues. Compared to new Motocross gear from (Alpinestar, Fly, and Shift) that have all ripped!! Newer gear is way thinner and much more lightweight, but that weight loss and increased air flow also comes with a loss of durability.
I've never liked Fox gear but I started riding 5 years ago. My brother recently picked up a new pair of Fox Instinct boots and they had the exact same issue that yours had with the buckle screw pulling/stripping out. Glad someone is calling attention to Fox's big time quality decline.
Bro, agree 100%. I bought a fresh set of Fox gear last year and I've worn through them after 20 uses. Not good. A few months ago I converted my entire kit to Klim (jersey, pant, gloves). So far my Klim gear shows zero wear, so I'm very happy with that. I run a 6D helmet, so I'm not changing that to Klim. It's sad that Fox has slid this far. Here is hoping that they get the message and go back to making great gear as a priority.
I'm 54 years old and riding again. Back in teh day I would buy Fox 180 and 360 gear. It was AWESOME, durable, good looking, etc. I bought a full set of Fox gear last year and rode three times. The pants are OK but the jersey is trashed. No big wrecks or anything, it just fell apart, snagged, stretched, etc.
I Agree with you 100 %. I still have an 80s pair of answer pants that unfortunately I’m too fat to fit into but have no rips no tears are in perfect condition very well used. Sad to see some Companies going downhill quality wise I still charging top dollar for the product!!
Great video Kyle! You are not wrong. I stopped buying Fox gear now about 2 years ago and i use to be that rider that wore everything Fox. Sad to see their quality drop.
Kyle don't hesitate to put these sorts of videos out there...we need more real content like this. TH-cam already has enough bs videos. My klim stuff has been bulletproof.
I agree totally, if the product is junk it merits a poor review. These company's need feedback when their products fail to meet our expectations. They don't even get the opportunity to fix the faults. Kyle has built an excellent platform for raising awareness for stuff like this and has shown integrity and fairness.
@@beauhawk1146 I appreciate that he doesn't take cheap shots, I do like to hear honest reviews even when they aren't positive. I think Kyle has done daily well at that, he possibly leans a bit towards not offering opinion when a product is less than great. That's my personal view at the end of the day he needs to do what makes sense to him.
I just purchased my first helmet a couple weeks ago, a Fox V3 Idol orange/blue medium and it fits weird. I am super worried that I made the wrong decision on such an important piece of gear now. I'm glad you had the heart to make this video.
I absolutely agree Kyle. I used to complain about the price of klim gear, but after buying a pair of their pants mainly because I liked the thigh pocket and using them extensively (well over 100 hours) they are just beginning to get to me contemplating retiring them. I feel like majority of gear has dropped quality while raising prices while klim has had minimal price increase and maintained quality. There is a great reason I only own klim pants now and don't really question the value of klim gear.
I've experienced the same thing. I have a pair of Fox shorts that look just like the older blue & white pants in your video. I've had them for at least 12 years and wore the hell out of them DH mountain biking for at least 9 years. Lots of abuse, crashes and runs through the washing machine, and they still look pretty good. I bought a pair of Fox 180 dirt bike pants last year and they're starting to fall apart after 8 easy/mellow rides and 3 washes. The newer jerseys all look heavily worn as well. Now that I've seen your video, I know it's not just me. I'll just avoid Fox gear until they start making better quality stuff.
Just had this conversation with my brother right before you posted this up. Way to speak up and put it out there! Hopefully it helps someone not make the same mistake as us. Now lets see you get some FXR podium offroad gear! 2021 stuff just dropped and looks really good but don't want to make the same mistake i did with the fox legion.
Fly's Kinetic series and pretty much all Troy Lee stuff has been serving me well for a while. I took a hard digger is my TLD GP Air mesh pants and there wasn't so much as a single thread that was damaged.
I've always liked Fox, but the drop in quality is unacceptable. Are they even listening to the people that use their products? They're doing just fine in the mountain bike department though. Very popular gear that seems to hold up well.
I love my Klim gear! Mohave is my favorite...Dakar is my next favorite...Their XC line is to soft for off road in my opinion (but still better than Fox). Love my Sidi Crossfires too...
I have a pair of 2001-ish Fox 360 pants, wore them probably for 10 plus years, still wearable (just dont fit anymore). 2012 Fox 360 "Covert" full gearset featuring the helmet, jersey, pants, and gloves. I wore the gloves out completely after about 5 years or so, the rest of the gear is still in very good condition and the helmet still feels remarkably fresh for its age (the liner and padding isnt all sacked out). Some light color fading/running on the jersey, nothing major. Excellent looking gear. 2014 Fox 180 Anthem gear, been wearing that for about 5 years too, good, tough gear. You can notice a difference in the "feel" of the pants compared to the 360 gear but it still holds up just as well. However, I've had one pair of Fox boots....ehhh not so great. They were kind of on the lower end, they weren't very comfortable and they fell apart pretty quick. The Alpinestars Tech 7s I upgraded to are light years ahead of them just in about every aspect. No issues with durability, quality, or comfort with the Alpinestars. I also got a newer set of Fox gloves (2018), the fit and feel are nice, but they are coming apart much more rapidly then the Dirtpaws and 360 gloves Ive had in the past.
I'm with ya Kyle. I bought some fox gear for my for my son and I, both jerseys are piling after a few rides. My Fly gear gets worn more and is holding up just fine.
Thank you for your honesty..... Shame the corporate companies are resting on the reliance that we are stupid enough to not notice this obvious decline in quality........ But not price. Good for you Kyle. Keep on producing the vids. Love when you tackle more technical riding 🤘
I agree. I have the instinct boots which have held up okay but had similar issues. I bought the 2020 v3 helmet this year and couldn't get a duplicate visor after a crash on a helmet less than a year old. Im going to start using Alpinestars from now on.
Thanks for the knowledge. My kids just starting to race competition. He likes all the wild color schemes of Fox. I was getting ready to blow my wad on multiple outfits. Then this video roles thru and blows my bleeping mind. Thank you sir. Well played brothaaaaa.
The palms of my Fox gloves wear out after 2 rides. I cut the cheap velcro off before the first ride. I've got ~15 rides on my Fox ITB pants and they are done. I wind up wearing my old gear (TLD, MSR). It looks a bit raggety but no holes, velcro still sticks, and buttons still button
20 years ago when my dad bought his xr 650r he got a bundle that came with it that had fox racing x Honda gear and he still uses the pants shirt and gloves 20 years later and my 2 year old pants already have a foot sized hole in them
Yup you are totally right brother! My boots suck! No protection, no loc-tite on the buckle screws... wasted My money. I don't wanna sell them so nobody else tears up their ankles. Thanks for the video, I thought it was just Me👍🤙
I’ve always seen Fox Racing stuff as a status symbol (I got a lot of Money to buy a fancy outfit). I know a few guys that drop $2k on new gear set every year they only use the stuff for one season. have to have the latest fashion or just show off. Which is whatever makes no difference to me it’s not my money unless you’re the poor and jealous type. The stuff is certainly lighter weight than it used to be and does not seem to have the same longevity. With their current marketing strategy it looks like “premium” they are trying to target higher-end more disposable income people and are not so worried about making long lasting products. I can’t really blame them for there casual clothing either because basically they slap their logo on any product and it sells. Saw some comments about posers. You can wear whatever you want. wearing something doesn’t make you a poser, lying about what you actually do makes you a poser. If wearing something with a company logo on it makes you a poser then everyone that has ever worn a sports team, car company or gun manufacture piece of clothing is by definition a poser. But I would definitely agree Kyle. I recently got a pair of fox racing pants from a yard sale brand new with the tags mint condition from 1999. Only payed $20. Comparing them to modern ones the build quality I would say is more than double.
I agree 100 percent !!!! Fox used to be really nice stuff and its all gone down hill. I feel its on par with house brand stuff of many distributors. Im about to get bent over getting fresh gear going from Fox to Klim and Gaerne but I need good gear and cant deal with the numb toes fox boots give me .
I have the same legion pants you showed. Mine look the same as yours and the zippers in the pockets quit working. My previous pants were an older version of fox legion. Just as wrecked. My fox gloves wear through the palms and between fingers. My fox goggles have the foam coming unglued from the frame. My fox boots have been nothing but problems. Even though I get discounts on fox gear, I haven’t been buying it. It just doesn’t last. I have a fox V3 helmet and fox gear bag. Both of which I do like. Also their casual clothing is nice.
Purchased some mid level Astars gear now that they're finally selling in the states. I've had really good luck with their gear for two years now. They do fit smaller then other brands I've worn in the past, so it's a good idea to go up a size if you choose to buy Astars.
Thanks for this review. Will stear clear of the Instincts now, looking at buying boots now. My son's new comp boots had the kickstart through them, and he had to save long to get them, so he's disappointed. I have a new Fox helmet and goggles though, and Im happy with those.
These reviews and comments will keep your channel alive Kyle. No one wants to hear from a fanboy no one can relate to. I think brands and products should be reviewed roasted and put up for debate. Our gear isn't cheap and no one wants to buy shit I applaud you using your platform.
i have fox pants got them in 2018 still wear them to this day i’ve had like 3 massi crash’s in them got fox boots and i’ve rode them for like 3 months now probably still are perfect
Thanks, I have some FOX gear that is now 6 years old still holding up. I will stay clear of the new stuff. I went with Forma Enduro boots, been good sofar.
Thanks for the honest review. Much appreciated!!! Wish I would have seen this a few months ago, as I recently purchased a pair of Fox Instinct boots. No problem so far... but wondering what's in store. Something told me I should have gone with the Sidi's.
Thanks for posting this, I couldn’t agree more.. I had some 360 gear 8 years ago that was great but sadly anything fox I purchased since has had the life span of a tear off and I ride moto. I’m not sure who’s buying fox these days, every one i see at the nor cal race scene is in TLD, Fasthouse or Fly.
Same here. I just bought a Fox Comp 5 enduro boots a couple months ago. And one of the buckle straps was ripped off from the boots in one of my trail rides. And I wasn’t even doing hardcore enduro. Unacceptable quality for this price range. Shame on you, Fox!
Agree. Done with fox myself. Cross training enduro youtube channel also did a segment on how Fox quality is fallen off. Too many other companies making better stuff for less to mess with Fox.
Thanks for saying something, Kyle! The quality of nearly everything has gone, but yes these companies who charge a premium should be held to a higher standard and should want to hear this. Having a "cool brand" and a slick logo is nice, but they're setup with a short-sighted model.
I completely agree with you kyle. I just switched from fox after only buying fox gear for the last 20 years. I cant believe how poor the quality is now when they made arguably the best gear 10 years ago. My fox comp 5's are completely destroyed after maybe 12 rides. And i just destroyed a brand new pair of fox pants in one little tumble on the first ride. Im switching to fasthouse at the moment and if i dont like their stuff ill just move to klim.
Fox gear is very cheep these days, my Fox dirtpaw gloves are completely destroyed after less than a year of use, my cousin bough some brand new fox boots and he has a buckle that doesn't work after 2 or 3 rides where i have had zero problems with alpinestar boots ever.
the dirtpaw gloves are a joke! I had two different pairs fall apart only after a few rides. Switched to KLIM mojave and they are so much better in quality.
Amen! I hate to agree with you but it's true. I've got two pairs of Fox 360 pants bought in 2001 and they're still in tact. Myself and my dad bought a new set of Fox gear last year and they're both already destroyed. It's a shame because Fox is my favorite brand. But like you I probably won't buy anymore. Keep up the great work and videos.
They are more worried about t shirt sales then riding gear. You pay that kind of money for gear it better be good
All my gear in past was Fox now not a chance have same thing pair of pants that lasted 3 rides before rips in them.
In their endless drive to make lighter and more advanced materials, they have forgotten their actual purpose.
I would argue save money. Cutting corners in quality.
Kyle gone savage! I love it. I haven't bought fox in yrs for this reason. I like my alpine boots, an fxr gear. Keep up the great work.
Sad!
FXR gear is amazing. I love it so much and it looks sick

Maybe they should make mr quality assurance walk around the office with the ass of his pants stitched the same way
Low integrity sell outs
I have stuff I bought 8 yrs ago and still run it from
time to time.
My Fox Instinct boots fell apart too. I was pissed!! I think the gear I probably fine for moto guys but for woods riding I am sticking with Klim
The kids boots are junk. The straps break off with little use
Kyle has always taken the high road when it comes to reviews over the years. He won't review something if he has nothing good to say. The fact that he came out on a rant speaks volumes about how Fox has gone downhill. Glad to know I'm not the only one having these same experiences with there gear lately.
I’m 15 and I’m actually using my dads Thor gloves from about 20 years ago. They’ve got a lot of miles on them, and they don’t show any wear.
@heartless i did sell the new pair i got and went back to the tech10s. I do also really like the sg12s. Ive has a couple pairs of them
Let me guess the soles where chunking apart and the stitching ripped open.
This is sad to hear.. I have a older pair of Fox pants that have held up great. But I've lost weight since then and was looking to get a smaller pair. I will for sure hold off on my purchase now. Step it up Fox.
That Australian guy has been ragging on Fox for a while too.
I think it was because he spent a bunch of money on gear that turned out to be shit too. 500 bucks for anything is a lot of money.
Crosstrainingenduro?
Ya he has🤣 - with the facts 🧐
@@atlas_au I had a problem with a Fox helmet and I've been waiting nine months for a reply despite numerous emails.
Thank you, Kyle. Crisp, clear and informative. This should benefit tons of riders and maybe even Fox.
Thanks for looking out for us man! This sport is already expensive, even worse if your gear keeps tearing up...
This is what happens when a company is sold off. Profit becomes the most important thing for the share holders.
Yup and then they forget what got them the brand loyalty to begin with.
Just like Delphi auto parts
When I was a kid riding in the 80's, MX Fox made good gear, but now it's all Chinesium junk!
Completely agree. I've always been a fox guy, but the past few things I've purchased from them, have been poor quality. Bought a pair of fox dirt paws gloves, and both gloves split from the seems in two rides.
I’ve had 5 pairs of dirt paws all split in the fingertips after a couple rides. Boots that the stitches were coming out of. Total junk.
Thank your for doing genuine review and not being a sell out! Very valuable content!
Well done, this is the first honest review on gear I have ever seen.
I’ve had the exact same experience. Thank you for calling them out.
True story. I bought Fox Seca set 3 years ago. It lasted for one ride and it was top of the line set!!
No Doubt - it's these young A-holes in the company with their profit before passion mentality
Good for you!!!
I appropriate your honesty !
I think fox are really on fit and light material but really not focusing on the longevity...
Kyle has done his best to take the high road on reviews, but Fox has really pulled him and the rest of us down lately.
Totaly agree with you, buy a fox red pant 3 month ago, the red color get away with the saddle friction
I’ve wrecked my body in O’Neal gear and the gear is always better off then I am. I don’t know how I can bleed and bruise but my gear looks brand new
O’Neal is always legit when it comes to wear and tear
100 % agree with you . You pay good money for them and the quality doesn’t match the price tag . Thanks
I just purchased my first helmet a couple weeks ago, a Fox V3 Idol orange/blue medium and it fits weird. I am super worried that I made the wrong decision on such an important piece of gear now. I'm glad you had the heart to make this video.
How did it go?
@@Ryan-xv3kc still rocking it. So good I got another model year newer. Both V3, the newer V3 RS is a lot lighter.
Agreed. I’m giving leatt a try for pants and jerseys and Forma a go for boots. So far so good.
Don't even get me started on my Fox boots...
20 years ago when my dad bought his xr 650r he got a bundle that came with it that had fox racing x Honda gear and he still uses the pants shirt and gloves 20 years later and my 2 year old pants already have a foot sized hole in them
Bang on review Kyle. Can’t dispute anything you said. My legion gloves lasted 2 rides. Literally.
Yup you are totally right brother! My boots suck! No protection, no loc-tite on the buckle screws... wasted My money. I don't wanna sell them so nobody else tears up their ankles. Thanks for the video, I thought it was just Me👍🤙
Bell, Sidi, AXO....still the combo I’ve been running for 30 years. Rock solid
Great to see honest commentary. Well done to you Sir.
Thank you making this video. Hope people new to the sport see this and realize that other brand may cost more.. But you get what you pay for!
Nice to see someone with a platform like yours come out and tell the truth. I have not bought that overpriced junk for at least 15yrs.
This is the straight up truth I am going to by some different gear when my fox wears out which shouldn’t be long.🤛👏
i have fox pants got them in 2018 still wear them to this day i’ve had like 3 massi crash’s in them got fox boots and i’ve rode them for like 3
months now probably still are perfect
Thanks, I have some FOX gear that is now 6 years old still holding up. I will stay clear of the new stuff. I went with Forma Enduro boots, been good sofar.
Thanks for the honest review. Much appreciated!!! Wish I would have seen this a few months ago, as I recently purchased a pair of Fox Instinct boots. No problem so far... but wondering what's in store. Something told me I should have gone with the Sidi's.
Agreed. Love the Fox brand, but the moto gear just doesn't hold up anymore. The casual gear is still good though.
Eventually nobody is going to want a hoodie with their logo on it if the actual gear is no good.
Thanks for the heads up Kyle. No fox gear till they lift their game.👍🇦🇺🍺
Glad I watched this before making a purchase......Thanks!
