sure Martinez did what he does and we made a lot of mistakes and played undisciplined at times. But as a husker fan what gave me hope moving forward from this game was nu got the ball back with 7:36 left and with 3 freshman lineman ran out the whole clock. thats winning football. gbr
Don't get me wrong, I am thrilled with the way Martinez played tonight, but he could have easily had at least 20 more yards on a run in the fourth quarter, and maybe would scored. I am tired of seeing quarterbacks, receivers and even running backs sliding or going out of bounds. And I need no lectures or explanations about QBs being hurt, etc. I probably know as much about football as anyone on this forum. On this particular possession, Nebraska ended up with a 3 & 13, which wasn't necessary,

Really hoping Rutgers would have pulled this off. I got my first degree at RU and my second one at UNL, but my memories of the Scarlet Knight games were much better than the Husker games. RU fans are a great bunch and had some awesome tailgates.
Nebraska, I was cheering for you all the time when OU, OSU, CU, and UT came into town when they were in that division.
Wandale got lit up all game long, and took it like a champ.

This was a Big win for the Cornhuskers! Because they doomed their program by joining the Big 10. They use to get a ton of players out of Texas, they went there to play against all the Texas Schools and Oklahoma. Those Texas kids do not want to play against the Big 10 schools, their friends and family do not want to travel that far to see them play. I do not see them ever getting back to their former glory.

I do not dislike the Big 10. I just stating a fact about Nebraska. They cut there own throats.
But if you want to be really honest the Big 10 should be called Ohio State and the rest conference. LoL
I do have a problem with the way the conference went about adding Maryland and getting stuck with Rutgers. But that is on the league office and the last conference commissioner. The conference office was so busy trying to get Notre Dame that they missed out on getting Missouri or West Virginia.
They let the ACC take Syracuse and Boston College as well.
Oh and the SEC is the Best Conference in College Football, The Big 10 is the second best. Then you have maybe 3 other teams in different conferences ( power 5) that are really good.
I can give you my other whipping horse discussion of late. What are the worst Head Coaching jobs in the power 5 conferences. Well the top 2 on the list are The Texas Longhorns and the Auburn Tigers! The Texas job could be awesome with the right kind of Head Coach, remember when Mack Brown was at Texas and they were play Alabama in the BCS championship game. I was taking some Photos and I took one of Brown and Nick Saban together. Well Mack Brown looked like he was in his 80’s! Come to find out Saban and Brown are the same age. A few years later Texas offered Saban (his agent ) $ 100 million fo 6 or 7 years. Saban turned it down fast! He made a comment at Quarterback Back Club that there was no way he could work at Texas, he said that all the billionaires think they have a say in the program, and Saban would be on all their speed dial. When you have super rich boosters that really control the program, you will be dealing with them instead of coaching.
Auburn is a cheaper version of Texas, and their boosters do dumb things like firing their head coach 3 days before signing day. When Tommy Tuberville was head coach, several trustees and so fourth flew to Louisville to offer Head Coach Bobby Petrino to become the next Auburn head, this was like 4 or 5 games into the season and Auburn was undefeated at that point. They had lost 4 games the year before and the offense was not doing that well, but winning by 1 is all it takes.
Razor, You make some very good points. Just as you say, in the Big 12, Nebraska was certain to play at least one game in the state of Texas, and maybe two, and to also play at least one per season at either OU or Oklahoma State. I definitely agree with what you have said about recruiting in Texas.
It makes me sick to my stomach to watch Nebraska games and then flip over to other big ten teams.
Yeeeeeeah I think it's pretty safe to say Oklahoma will be trampling Nebraska in fall.

I'm curious how Smothers will turn out. Haven't given up on McCaffry yet. I'll give Martinez one more shot at the start of next season if he "wins" the starting spot.

Get a fullback, get under center, play football. The problem with this offense is that with McKenzie Milton it works, with 98% of other QBs it looks like high school.

As a Vikings fan I'd love to see him as a mid-late rd pick and be the #3 behind Thielen and Jefferson. I also wanted Carroo when he came out kinda bummed he faded out in the NFL

We won I guess. But Scott needs to understand something, having an offense predicated on the quarterback run does not, can not, and will not work in the Big Ten... The offense is all wrong, the quarterbacks Frost recruits are all wrong, the defense is dead wrong, and Im done watching this garbage. No bowl game next year either, if they allow fans and Nebraska still sell that stadium out then no amount of losing will break their cult like obsession with this has been washed up group of nobodies.
What is Schiano talking about ,not waiting for a bowl game? Who in there right mind would pay to watch these teams play another game? Thank god Nebraska won this game.let’s hope the hunkers are on the trail back toward greatness. Some of the best football ever . Good luck going forward. Rutgers, well we got what we wanted, more money down the drain. Had a good young coach but had to fire him and hire a guy who left for greater glory. This is not the watered down big east.
