You say it is a sin to go to God in prayer when you are struggling with obedience. Where are the scriptural references backing that up? I am done tolerating pastors who shame. If God dealt in absolutes the way all preachers portray Him, He would have discarded me a long time ago and that would have negated John 6:37 entirely. I spent many years, decades actually, trying to come to terms with what my mother did to me and the repercussions that I still live with daily. God says to forgive. I couldn't. If I had believed you that it was a sin to go back to God with my need for help, I'd still hate her for what she did and my relationship with God would have suffered. One day in one of our many conversations I heard: "I am conforming you to the image of My Son and I told you, you would suffer. Should I have chosen another method?" God didn't start out with that message. That message took years for me to hear and understand. Stay in your own lane because if obedience were easy, everyone would be saved and Christ need not have sacrificed Himself. Francis Shaeffer said: "Man, made in the image of God, has a purpose - to be in relationship to God, who is there. Man forgets his purpose and thus he forgets who he is and what life means."
