Boulevard of Broken Dreams but you're ambushed on a combat patrol in Ramadi

- The Battle of Ramadi was fought during the Iraq War from March 2006 to November 2006. Since the fall of Fallujah in 2004, Ramadi had been the center of the insurgency in Iraq. Coalition strategy relied on establishing a number of patrol bases called Combat Operation Posts throughout the city. Colonel Sean MacFarland decided to take it slowly and softly, without using heavy close air support. Tanks were used to safeguard soldiers against IEDs and were key in targeting bunkered insurgents and snipers. By mid-November at least 75 American soldiers and Marines were killed along with an unknown number of Iraqi soldiers and police.

My dad went to Afghanistan from 2016. He always would write to me about how he was doing, stuff that happened, and how he missed us.On January 17th, 2019, he had his right leg blown off from an IED. He came back home a few months later, with just his left leg, but he was proud of it. He was such a funny man, and loved this band. Before he left, he played this song on his guitar. He was a sergeant, and died just a few weeks ago from a stroke. This was the song played at the funeral, and reminds me of him all the time.
Sergeant David, 0331 MOS. Rest In peace, dad.

“The last stand” but your a Swiss guard valiantly defending the Teutonic cemetery from foreign invaders.
Yes this!
This, but with a contemporary hymn to make it more authentic
Just read about that event. Man those guys fought valiantly against a literal tide of invaders.
We don’t even get thought this in Swiss schools. All they talk about is WWII (in terms of wars), I’ve had 6 consecutive years of this same subject in history class and we didn’t even learn like technology advancements during these times, no we just learned about the statistics (deaths, dates, …).
As someone who has been infatuated by historical events for his entire life, and dedicated his entire academic career to studying history and politics, this style of media is one of the most unique and enthralling blends of social history with the events themselves. It's so easy to be disconnected from these events when reading about them they so easily become mere facts, statistics. Growing up during the 'War on Terror,' hearing this music (and actually fucking love Green Day, one of my favourite bands) blended with combat audio adds a weird level of despair for our modern world. We try so hard to bury ourselves in the norms of our societies, while our taxes go toward leveling the cities, toppling the governments, and slaughtering those less fortunate than ourselves. This world truly is fucked.
I love the Insurgency Sandstorm audio by the way
I believe that it's a matter of perspective more than anything. The Fight can be considered as good. Toppling genocidal Dictatorships and Slaughtering Murderous terrorists. But then it's all bureaucracy and mistakes that are inevitably made that do the harm nobody wanted. And then it's a long war with no good ending. Maybe it's just the way the world works. Nothing will ever be perfect but that doesn't mean it's all bad. The intentions are good most of the time.
@@aleksandrasmiksenas317 Anything can be made good. Putin's war in Ukraine, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The Nazis made their war 'good.' I fundamentally believe that it is our duty as citizens of this world to analyse these events for ourselves, and make objective and unbiased opinions. When you understand that 95%+ of the taxpayer's money spent in Afghanistan and Iraq went to arms manufacturers with direct and indirect links to Congress and the Senate, you begin to realise these wars aren't for the sake of toppling dictators, but for making a profit. the CIA has installed more dictators than it has removed, and the wars in the middle east have claimed over 1 million innocent lives. The notion that there exists a 'good guy' on the world stage, a 'good country' is infantile and stuff of fantasy. No matter where you live, your taxes fund suffering. There are not good intentions, I hate to say it but there aren't. Saddam was a bad man, but what came after was worse. The last war fought with good intentions was WWII, and even then half the world only joined in when they had to or when it was beneficial to them.
"War isn't hell. war is war, and hell is hell... there are no innocent bystanders in hell. War is chock full of em. Besides some of the brass, almost everyone involved is an innocent bystander."
War on 'terror' to enact invasion based on 'WMD' that turns out a fake news 😅. That's history for you
Ahhh, nothing like the gentle sounds of RPGs, mortar fire and IEDs to serenade a man to restful slumber. I was once so tired that, after working a 14 hour shift on an Airfield, during a mortar attack, I used my kevlar vest a blanket and slept in the sandbag bunker. Good times ...
Definitely good times when you're invading someone's else home and gets shot at

18 year-olds should not be kicking down doors in a country halfway around the world fighting an enemy they do not understand to liberate a people who do not welcome liberty, yet there they were. Ultimately, this war was about America. This was the last time in the 21st c. that our nation was truly united.
Neither should war be fought, yet we humans have done it for centuries. They fought for their country and for what they believed in, they volunteered for the job and were patriots in my opinion
Yea, invading a country on false pretenses when no one asked you to and starting a power vacuum that gets hundreds of thousands of innocent people killed is definitely what American foreign policy is all about. To claim that the US fought on behalf of Iraqis but that they didn’t “welcome liberty” has to be the stupidest comment I’ve read all day. Please explain what virtue and honor can be found in invading a country on a lie? The Iraq war was an abject foreign policy failure for the US. Honestly go fuck yourself.
United by a blatant lie told by a criminal administration that got out country lodged in a 20 year quagmire....AGAIN?
Sure.

1:00 dear god the faint woman's scream in the back. I am so used to these videos just being a "music + gun sounds" deal that hearing the scream caught my feels so off guard
