Occasionally WILQ 105.1 or 99.9 THE BEAR here in central PA play songs that aren't as popular like Kenny Chesney or Tim McGraw songs were. Miss yall. Love these old songs from my childhood.
I saw them for the first time in early 98 or 99 when they opened for Blackhawk (my all time favorite group). Was a great show. SOD played "Goodbye Earl" for the first time live that night. The vocals these two groups showcased was truly special.
Still love this song, and I remember when it was on the radio briefly around the spring of 1999. It's another great feel good song that takes me back to better times. Although I was lucky enough to find a cd single of the song recently, I still wish they were able to release the album it was supposed to be included on. Bet it would've been great!
That album was going to be massive. This was the lead single, then they had Albuquerque.. but the massive hit that they never got a chance to released went to the Dixie Chicks, that was Goodbye Earl. Unfortunately that is what really ended the band.. record label issues twice in a row. Even putting trust into Tim McGraw for their second album did nothing for them.
I ended up with a copy somehow that I currently can't find, but thankfully I had imported it into iTunes many years ago so I still have it that way, even though it's not the best quality. And yes, the album is amazing.
Yea agreed what happened to them, i went to the Greater Shenandoah Valley Fair, 1997 and went to their concert, i got front row seats, :P i wish they would come back *prays*
if any of you sons of the desert \ fans live in the austin area the singer drew womack is doing a sonwriters showcase thursday 4-21-11 at legends sports bar at the holiday inn located in the arboritum 7:30 we could use yalls support come out and hear drew do what he does..
These guys were great. Shame about the record label and the Dixie Chicks. I'm sure their version of "Goodbye Earl" would've smoked the Dixie Chicks' version. Natalie Maines has such an irritating voice.
Sons of the Desert were an awesome band. It's too bad they are no longer. Thankful I have their cd.
She still In the lead. Don't worry ❤. 🎉🎉
World class song of any genre.
Its a shame...these guys should have been massive!
Wish ya'll would come back. Would love to play your stuff on the radio again.
