No way! Randomly remembered having one of these as a child 20 years ago, went to google to find out what it was, and saw your video! That’s the EXACT one we had! So awesome to see it. Memories of getting yelled at for touching the strings and getting oil on everything 😂
Oh my gosh thank you, My grandparents had one of these and I remember seeing it whenever I was seven that was over two decades ago and I could not figure out what it was and now I know what it is and I can show other people and convince them that I'm not crazy because I've tried explaining it and they swear up and down I must have been dreaming lol
I love the old oil lamps too. They give you a tranquil feeling. Once in awhile you can find one at a Flee market. It’s a simple pump system in them that can be replaced. Thanks for the comment.
I bought 2 from an antique shop for only 10 bucks a piece that were sitting in his shed for the last 20 years. One was just like the one in this video. Unfoutunately the plastic reservoirs broke from age. But I kept the parts from it to fix the other one which was missing the bottom, original Venus statue, and some strands were broken. But I fixed it. I like the Venus ones better cause the reservoirs are brass. I took the top off the grist mill one and plugged the hole in the top, drilled 3 screw holes along the rim it so I can convert it from a table top to a swag lamp.

Yep! They have been around a long time. Wait till you say 40 years ago I remember getting yelled at! :)
Yes I remember them from the '80s ....... watching from Oak Cliff, TX
They are neat looking.
I'm 45 and I had never even heard of these until I randomly saw someone talking about them in a Facebook group. So cool!
Yes, they were popular in the 70’s and early 80’s. They are nice looking. Just don’t knock one over. You will have a terrible mess.
That is incredible. Wow. Thank you for sharing.

That's great to hear
They are mesmerizing. I remember the first one I saw. It was incredible.
I still have a great rainlamp collection :-)
That’s awesome. They are hard to find today. I’m surprised they didn’t make a reproductions of them.
I have one of these from my grandma
The water wheel doesn't spin though 🥲
These can be repaired. They are fun to watch.
I inherited one that hangs from the ceiling, I need a new cord on it. Mines much bigger.. it has a green light in it , it’s beautiful.
They are neat! That’s an easy fix. You might want to replace the oil in it. Just pour it out and use a good vegetable oil.
We need a rain lamp with a lava lamp in the middle. 😂
Yep! I have a Lava lamp too.
Dove or dawn dish soap? Where do you put the oil in at?

That’s awesome!! They can be restored. It looks like a 60 lb. Fishing line that they use for the oil to slide down.
Wher does oil go
Just pour it into the bowl beside the plants and water wheel. It has holes for it to drain into the bowl.
I have one, Does not have any oil in it, Not sure what do do with it
You can use vegetable oil in them.
@@knightingalesaid how much?
Do I pour it into the bottom portion?
Great video!
