- Went to visit Ian and Jack down at Cooperb Motorcycles in Wellingborough, and took out the new 450 Himalayan while I was there.
Not really a review, just me rambling on a bit!
The reviews have been really good from most people, but quite a few times the issue of weight came up which, been only 5'6" and about 55kg, it made me a little apprehensive. Happy to say I didn't feel the weight was a problem at all, yes the bike leans quite far on the side stand, but after first initial sit on the bike I got use to it and I definitely didn't feel like it was that hard to lift upright. As for riding , it was a pleasure, that extra power really does make it easier and less laboured than the 411, the suspension, the riding position, even the little things like the levers, it feels like a far more refined bike.
It would be interesting to take the bike off the tarmac, as that's where the 411 really came into its own.
I loved the old Himalayan/Scram, but this feels like a completely different bike, in a good way!
I get a feeling I'll be adding one of these to my garage next year...
