    On today's episode of Locked On College Football, Spencer McLaughlin and 'Locked On Alabama' host Luke Robinson discuss the Crimson Tide's 2025 Playoff prospects. Should their win total on FanDuel really be lower than last season in Kalen DeBoer's second year? 10:47
    Boise State WR Cameron Camper will NOT be entering the NFL Draft, but will find a new home next year not with the Broncos. He along with Notre Dame center Pat Coogan represent 2 of the highest level transfer targets available for power 4 schools. 19:28

    UNLV is The Longshot. Unless the Pac-12 wins their court case and doesn't have to pay any poaching penalties, UNLV is a non-starter.

  • @MarkJensen-e8d
    @MarkJensen-e8d 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    I think it all comes down to Media value on why UNLV makes the switch. A 1 time lump sum payment of say $20mil for staying in the MW and getting a media deal of $4mil a season, would be considered worse if the PAC12 can get $8-10 MIL without UNLV in it (and more if they join). $8mil a season is a break even for UNLV IF the money in the PAC is double the MW. It won't make sense if the MW is at $6mil and PAC at $8mil.
    HOWEVER, if UNLV wants an invite say to the BIG12 or B10 and the PAC12 just offered you a spot in a better league and you turned them down, why would they want you? Being a member of the PAC12 for UNLV is far more beneficial for them long term because they just proved that for 5 years they played against the best of the west and deserve an upgrade to the P4.

    Adding UNLV seems very unlikely, since they have agreed to accept a big check from the MWC. If the Pac has the cash to buy out that deal, the money would be better used to add Memphis (football and basketball value, and another time zone for TV).

    Spencer you forgot to mention Texas St as a PAC-12 expansion option. Adding TXST and getting into Texas could lead to AAC schools such as UNT and UTSA to jump. Adding 3 Texas schools could help the PAC-12 get a better media deal.

    To me, the PAC's number 1 target absolutely should be UNLV, after that they should be looking at New Mexico. New Mexico provides a geographic bridge into further expansion east into Texas and beyond. While I think it is likely that the service academies will be just fine going forward, there is some risk that they are not going to be able to keep pace in the new NIL environment. Which provides an argument against Air Force.
    If the PAC plays this right, I can see having UNLV, Memphis, Tulane, New Mexico, and UNT in the conference. There will likely be another Texas team in there too, but I don't know if that is UTSA or Texas State. I think my preference would be Texas State just because it is more of a college town school where UTSA is clearly a commuter school. I am not moved much either way between those two though.
    Add in St. Mary's and maybe another strong non-Football like Wichita State and we have one hell of a strong Basketball conference! Only weak basketball team would be Fresno, everyone else would be a knock down drag out fight to get a win.

      If they had the resources I’d suggest adding east coast and Florida schools and pulling the big 10 coast to coast move.
      Army, Navy, UConn, USF, maybe one other Florida team. 2 Texas schools. Memphis. Tulane. Marshall. Fresno state or San Jose state New Mexico Boise unlv.

I’m not that confident that media executives think the PAC 7 is really worth that much more. It certainly wasn’t worth what the former PAC 12 demanded. And how come there is no media right deal yet for the PAC? A merger always made the most sense and the PAC did the end around on the MW.
