- Yet more quality treasure… it’s a camper van it’s doesn’t go and to make things even better they lost the keys! I said no, walked away twice…
So today me and fudge are attempting to beat it back into life and some how get it back to the yard !!!

I've always thought that model was handsome. The camper body is nicely proportioned too. I say do the mechanicals, repair and paint the cab, seal up the leaks on the body and sell it on for someone to do the inside.

I love these hedgerow/barn find videos, getting something running, that most people would probably just drag to the nearest scrapyard! Get this mechanically usable, give it a good wash inside & out & go on a long weekend road trip in it!
The only thing Al, is that as it's left hand drive, the side entrance door is on the 'wrong' side for the UK, not a major problem, it would be ideal for someone touring Europe!
At some point in its life this vehicle has most definitely been registered in Austria, the green and white MOT sticker in the top right corner of the windscreen is a dead giveaway. When did that expire? The sticker should have the year and month of expiration punched out. The fact that it's green suggests that it expired a while ago because green ones were discontinued in 2018, newer ones are white. The sticker should also have the registration number at that time, which tells you where in the country the owner lived, as Austrian plates are tied to the current registration and the owner's home address. If you move outside your region or sell the car, the car gets new plates with a different number. Plates are also considered documents and only issued by the government.
I might have to add that Austria loves road salt at least as much as the UK so it's an absolute mystery how this has survived. Probably simply because it's a camper and campers round here tend to be driven for three or four weeks in July or August and you aren't that likely to encounter road salt that time of the year.
The very top line of that green and white sticker should be the registration at the time it was last MOT'd in Austria. Pre-1990 plates had one or two letters followed by up to six numbers, post-1990 ones have one or two letters, one to five numbers and one to five letters, usually 2+2, 2+3 or 5+1numbers and letters.
That is a diamond in the rough, got to be saved . With a bit of work it could be a lovely camper . Brilliant vid as always guys . Good to see fudge back , just be careful with that back . 👍👍👍

I do love these “adventure” ones where you go off and discover new interesting rubbish . The exploration of the inside was very amusing. It does seem too good to scrap . I reckon it’s best shot is if you two patch it up as properly as you can so it’s a good base for someone to work off , I know you’ve not got time to restore it but just get it solid, safe and somewhat clean
Used to drive a panel van one of these, would do 55 flat out, had a memorable gear change but would never break down or not start. Where did we go wrong? Brilliant vid fellas!
What a beauty !! Driving them is an attitude of mind. Slow your expectations, enjoy the Zen of a slow motion progression and allow serendipity to take you somewhere that a modern vehicle would flash past causing you to miss great experiences. Keep it as is. So much nicer😊

Great video guys. Those T1n,s are very robust vans very slow but very reliable. Drove in 95 a 310 for a while. Remember that the gearchange has a different pattern. I am watching this upload in my LT 46 campervan on a campingspot in Luxembourg.

I had the 307d compass clipper on a 1982 and just sold it a year ago to a lad round the corner from me he loves it.
I only sold as it was to big and no power steering.
We went to Spain 'Scotland lake district and all over Britain and I do think you will find some one will buy it.
Definitely store it up for August.

Guys that was awesome, I had one of those as a delivery van in the mid 90s and yep flat out every where .
I never ever had trouble with the engine I was bomb proof .
I only stopped using it when I pulled up outside a post office in small village to get some lunch and whilst in there buying a sandwich she caught fire as the nearside front brakes had lit up .
Death was pretty quick tbh she burnt out quite quickly I still have the grill badge off said van .
Oh how that brought back memories lol.
Can't wait to see what you guys get up to next .

Now it's had a good clean up it's no where as bad as I was thinking it's amazed me how rot free it is if it was a UK one it would of been falling apart you have had a good deal
At least at some point she was an Austrian and that's 100% as bad as the UK as far as tinworm is concerned. I know exactly two people in Austria who still drive T1s and they both weld everything themselves, otherwise the vans would have disintegrated 20 years ago. Campers are a different story though because most people round here drive them for a few weeks during the summer holidays and keep them under cover for the rest of the year. We aren't anywhere close to the sea so it's road salt that kills cars and that's mostly used between November and March in our climate. Way up in the alps where you might need it during summer I think they're sensible enough not to use it at all, it's mostly in the lowlands where everyone forgets how to drive at the sight of a single snowflake.
This will definitely live on, with a wood burning stove fitted and some flower power stickers 😅

There is Benson & Hedges for smokers and here we have Finds-'em in Hedges and she's a non-smoker. Find the external source of the moisture ingress and get it sealed quickly but try to get rid of all the moisture from inside the vehicle using any means possible. (non- flammable).

WOW AL u love buying headaches!!! I recently done a load of welding uo one door steps sills wheel arches etc etc then the roof started leaking a few months later it runs nice but wont pull the skin of a rice poodin !!!

Bit like a non turbo banana transit, you scream the nuts out of those but you put a turbo on it, you got half a chance of going uphill.

In Austria (where it either came from or at least lived for a while) it would be worth 4k as is I reckon. The last time I looked at campers the most affordable one I could find was a 1983 Mitsubishi L300, which is considerably smaller than a T1 and even more woefully underpowered with a carburetted petrol engine, with leaky windows (so badly that the owner actually mentioned that in the ad) for 3500 Euros. And that was at least two years ago.
